AnimalsTranscript
00:00If worst scenario, if that really happens, is I got no choice but to euthanise every single one.
00:09Yeah, because I don't see any other options.
00:12You release them on the street, they won't make it either.
00:16They would be in more pain, you know, being mistreated by people.
00:21Wolf Langkawi, the island's only animal sanctuary, has been a safe haven for stray and injured animals for the past 18 years.
00:34Founded by Geoffrey Tan, an animal behaviourist and therapist, Wolf is home to more than 150 dogs and cats.
00:42Here, animals roam freely, form bonds and recover from past trauma.
00:47But today, the sanctuary faces an uncertain future.
00:52The land Wolf sits on is being sold, and Tan needs to raise RM380,000 by the end of December to relocate.
01:02If they can really help, by all means help out, you know.
01:06Because the thing is, you're not just helping me, you know, whoever out there.
01:12You're helping the rest of the animals here.
01:14You're talking about more than 150 lives, it depends on it.
01:18So not just mine.
01:20If the funds aren't collected by the end of the year, Wolf's furry residents could lose the only real home they've ever known.
01:28First option is to release them back on the street, which they may not survive.
01:37They're so used to being taken care of.
01:40And option B, if worst scenario, if that really happens, is I've got no choice but to euthanise every single one.
01:49Yeah, because I don't see any other options.
01:52This potential loss is even more heartbreaking when you consider what Wolf represents, a place of second chances.
02:01Every animal here receives specialised care, allowing them to live, play and heal at their own pace.
02:09And each recovery is a small victory celebrated by Tan and his volunteers.
02:14With Wolf's future hanging in the balance, Tan is placing his hopes in the kindness of strangers.
02:21Despite the uncertainty, he's determined to see the glass as half full.
02:26I always have hope.
02:29Who knows, maybe a miracle can happen. You wouldn't know.
