00:00This manual is a work, first of all, that comes from a research that our association has done in the sector and aims to encourage the culture of the sector and to explain to all the interlocutors of our sector the peculiarities of our production.
00:21Our association, in fact, represents the transforming companies of corrugated cardboard, the typical Italian PMI that operate throughout the national sector and today have more than 350 companies and 5,000 members.
00:35The aim of this manual is to give commercial technical guidelines in full compliance with the antitrust law and to increase the culture of the sector by specifying what are the productive peculiarities in the production of packaging and therefore, consequently, also in their use.
00:54We propose, with the development of this manual, to make available to institutions to explain even better the peculiarities of this part of the supply chain, which today is fundamental for the transport of goods and for the protection of packaging.
01:10A supply chain that is very complex in itself, very complicated to understand and therefore, many times, can be interpreted in a different way from what reflects reality, what the regulations can be and in what way they impact on the supply chain itself.
01:27Our aim is to explain in the best possible way how this part of the transformation works, to make it clear both to those who buy the materials and to those who must legislate on the progress of the companies that are part of it.
01:42We expect from the European Union that all regulations that will concern our sector will not be specifically directed to the reuse of packaging.
01:55This, with a memory to the Chamber, to the commissions of the Chamber and the Senate, we went to explain it specifically to promote the recycling, which already represents an excellence in our sector and today is more than 90% in our sector.
02:12Therefore, from our point of view, Europe will have to focus on laws and directives that will encourage the recycling of packaging in wavy cardboard, a material that is already suitable for its own sustainability after its use.
02:29For example, we think that a fibre can be recycled up to seven times and therefore we hope that, at the level of the European Community, there will be differences between countries that already do recycling and their strengths compared to countries that perhaps do not have these peculiarities in their industrial fabric.
