00:00There is a big threat of a typhoon Pepito in the country.

00:03What will happen to the places affected by the typhoon?

00:06And why does Metro Manila need to be prepared?

00:09Let's find out the details of Benji Durango of PTV Manila.

00:16The typhoon Ophel is about to leave.

00:18It is now far away at 205 West-Northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

00:21It is still the signal number one while the power is about to be released.

00:24But the typhoon Pepito is getting closer.

00:26According to the latest forecast this afternoon,

00:29the typhoon is at 485 kilometers north-east of Samar.

00:33The wind speed is 150 to 185 kilometers per hour

00:38while the speed is 30 kilometers per hour.

00:40The typhoon is getting stronger because of the rapid intensification.

00:44That is why it is expected to be a super typhoon tomorrow.

00:47For now, the weather forecast is expected to be bad in some places in Visayas and Luzon.

00:51There are 22 places in the northern and eastern portion of Samar

00:54that are now under the signal number two

00:56while the signal number one is 26 places in Luzon

01:00and the northern and eastern parts of Samar and Biliran.

01:03It is now being monitored by Pagasa where the typhoon will enter

01:06tomorrow night or Sunday morning.

01:08Some of the possible landfall places are Catanduanes, Camarinesur,

01:12Albay, Sorosogon, Quezon, or Aurora.

01:15But Pagasa explains that the stronger wind is not in the eyes of the typhoon

01:19but in its surroundings.

01:20The width of the typhoon is around 760 kilometers

01:23that is why many places will experience severe weather

01:25as it moves west-northwest.

01:28Stronger winds can also be experienced in coastal areas

01:31and high places that can be affected by the typhoon.

01:34Signal number five is the highest wind signal that can be declared by Pagasa

01:38while the typhoon Pepito is approaching.

01:40The first places that will experience no rain

01:43are Saturday afternoon in northern Samar, Sorosogon, Bicol region, and Catanduanes.

01:48You can experience severe flooding here.

01:51As for the dams in Luzon, the water is already at a normal high level.

01:54This means that the rainwater that the typhoon will bring in will be able to flow again.

01:58If Pagasa is right, the typhoon will pass through Bicol region,

02:02Quezon, Central Luzon, and Pangasinan

02:05before the typhoon Pepito leaves the West Philippine Sea.
