00:00The 4th Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill was held in Cebu

00:04led by OCD-7 and its partner agencies.

00:08The details are reported by Robinson Gabardo of the PIA Central Visayas.

00:14Led by the Office of Civil Defense Region 7,

00:17Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office,

00:19and other government agencies,

00:21the 4th Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

00:24was held at the University of Cebu Medical Center in Cebu on November 14.

00:29Almost 100 participants were involved,

00:31including staff and medical students of the hospital

00:34and personnel of the disaster, emergency, and rescue units.

00:38Evaluators examined the preparedness of the UCMED

00:41and its follow-up to the DAC, cover, and hold.

00:43Other aspects of disaster preparedness were also examined,

00:46following evacuation procedures,

00:49damage assessment,

00:51and activation of the Incident Management Team.

00:53It is very important to greet and participate in the NCED

00:58because this is our way to practice

01:02and to strengthen preparedness to the public

01:05and to promote awareness

01:06in all times in Cebu if there is an earthquake.

01:11The leadership of the UC Medical Center was happy

01:14that they were given the opportunity to participate

01:16and learn about the activity.

01:18We always look forward to these kinds of activities

01:22because it beefs up our own preparations,

01:25our own internal preparations for disaster,

01:28specifically for earthquakes.

01:30And as a hospital, it makes us better

01:33so whenever such an incident might occur in the future,

01:37we can be truly ready and help,

01:39not just Mandaway, but of course Cebu City.

01:42The NCED is a quarterly exercise led by the Office of Civil Defense.

01:46It aims to strengthen the preparedness of LGUs,

01:49government agencies, private stakeholders,

01:52and the public in times of crisis.
