00:00Proving themselves formidable on the international stage, the Miralco Bolts grinded out a tough win against Korean Basketball League bet Busan KCC Aegis in the East Asia Super League last night.
00:12For all the highlights and insights, here's Elvan Airel.
00:18The Miralco Bolts successfully defended home court against the visiting Busan KCC Aegis in the East Asia Super League Wednesday night at the Fieldsports Arena in Pasig City.
00:29The South Korean squad controlled the tempo of the game, leading by double digits by as early as the first half.
00:36But the hometown Bets were able to keep in step, and in the fourth quarter, Achille Mitchell's efforts sparked a scoring run, punctuated by Bon Quinto's clutch three-pointer to tie the game at 80 points apiece.
00:49A few possessions later, Mitchell was sent to the charity stripe with the chance to win the game.
00:54The American Panamanian import sunk one free throw to put his team ahead.
00:58With a few seconds remaining in the game, Busan had one last chance to win it, but Pyo Ong's Hail Mary was way off.
01:06Just like that, Miralco escaped with a narrow 81-80 victory.
01:29Mitchell finished with 33 points to go with 22 rebounds.
01:35Although a newcomer to Miralco, the 6'9 big man said adjusting to his new team wasn't really too difficult.
01:43Like I said, the character of the guys means a lot.
01:46So even in the first day, the communication from everybody, explaining to me where to go, showing me the way around.
01:54Little things like that go a long way.
01:56With the victory, Miralco improved to two wins and one loss in the EASL standings.
02:02Meanwhile, the San Miguel beermen remained winless with two defeats after falling short against the Taoyuan-Pawian pilots.
02:10The boats and beermen will have a long break from EASL action with their next game slated for December 18.
02:16However, there won't be such stress for San Miguel's Junmar Fajardo and CJ Perez, as well as Miralco's Chris Nusang and Ansh Kwame.
02:25These four players will shift their focus on preparing for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers this month.
02:32Rafael Bondarell from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
