00:00Meanwhile, we have an update on the weather.
00:02Now, we are watching two storms.
00:05Let's talk to Lori Din de la Cruz Galicia,
00:08the weather specialist of Pag-asa.
00:10Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:12Lori Lin.
00:14Good morning, Ms. Juan Lin.
00:16Yes, and what is our latest?
00:19Where is the Nika storm?
00:21Is it already out and away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility?
00:26The Nika storm is expected to be out of our area this afternoon.
00:33It is still inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility
00:35but it is about to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility this afternoon.
00:39As for the Ophel storm,
00:41based on our latest data,
00:44it was seen at a distance of 950 kilometers
00:46east of southeastern Luzon.
00:49The strong wind was blowing at 85 kilometers per hour
00:53near the center at a gustiness of 105 kilometers per hour.
00:57It is currently moving north-westward.
01:01But right now, we don't have a signal
01:03or a tropical second wind signal
01:05to indicate the location of our areas
01:08because it is still far away.
01:09Yes.
01:11Ms. Ophel, I mean, Ms. Lori Din,
01:15regarding the Ophel storm,
01:17will the Ophel storm be heading in the same direction as Nika?
01:23There is a similarity,
01:24especially since we are expecting
01:27that it will approach or hit the northern or central Luzon.
01:32But it will recurve to the extreme northern Luzon afterwards.
01:37But for now,
01:39as long as the area is within the cone of probability,
01:43it is still possible for the storm to hit the central Luzon.
01:46So, the landfall of the Ophel storm is still on Thursday, right?
01:52Yes, Thursday.
01:53Thursday.
01:54And what are we expecting from the tropical storm, Mani,
01:59that when it hits our PIRs,
02:01it will hit the Philippine area of responsibility?
02:07Yes, as of now, as we can see in the projection,
02:09it is possible that it will continue to head northward.
02:12So, there is also a chance that it will land on our land.
02:16But its intensity,
02:17it is possible that when it hits the land,
02:19it will be weaker.
02:21Even though we have a projection,
02:24our advice is to monitor the updates
02:27that are coming out of Pag-asa about the weather disturbance
02:29because there are still many possible changes
02:32and there is still uncertainty because it is still far away.
02:35Okay. But will the Ophel storm be strong like the Nika storm?
02:41Yes, we expect that it will also be a typhoon.
02:44So, its peak intensity can be in the typhoon category
02:47before making landfall.
02:48Alright. Thank you very much for that update.
02:51Ms. Lori Din de la Cruz Galicia of Pag-asa.
