00:00Tomorrow, on October 15, the Bureau of Immigration set a deadline for foreign POGO workers to voluntarily downgrade their work visa to a temporary visitor visa.
00:09We will talk to Bureau of Immigration Spokesperson, Dana Sandoval.
00:13Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:16Good morning to you.
00:18How many foreign POGO workers have voluntarily downgraded their visa before tomorrow's deadline?
00:25Well, as far as we know, around 12,000 foreign nationals have submitted their downgrading before the deadline.
00:34So there is still time today and tomorrow for them to file their downgrading before the office cancels their visas.
00:43How important is it for foreign POGO workers to downgrade their visas, aside from the threat of cancellation?
00:50Yes, their voluntary downgrading of visas means that they are complying with the regulations of the Bureau of Immigration and the national government.
00:58If they do not follow this and do not leave before December 31, they may be placed on our blacklist and will not be able to return to the Philippines.
01:09If they voluntarily surrender their status here and they downgrade and they leave the country voluntarily,
01:18it means that they are still complying with the laws of our country.
01:22And they still have an opportunity to return to the Philippines if they have legitimate activities here in the country.
01:30Can this be done in the main office of the Bureau of Immigration and the national government?
01:33Two offices. They can do it in the main office in Intramuros. They can also do it in our office in Taguig.
01:41In other issues, are there any personalities that have been mentioned in your backtrack and in your relationship with your counterparts in Malaysia,
01:48in regards to Alice Guo's departure from Kuala Lumpur International Airport?
01:52Currently, we are being followed by leads, but we do not have a finality regarding those leads.
01:58We still need to verify with other sources.
02:01We are getting a lot of conflicting information regarding Alice Guo's illegal departure.
02:09That needs to be verified and re-verified with other external sources.
02:12Maybe in the next few weeks, we will be able to give more details.
02:16What we know is that half of the story of former Mayor Alice Guo is invalidated already.
02:23And we are in the process of knowing the other half of how she really left the country.
02:29But is it normal that if it is a small airport, it is not possible that the people who will leave the country will not pass through the B.I.?
02:38There's a possibility for that if it was kept from the C.I.Q. or the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine.
02:44Because for smaller aircrafts, there are ground handlers who apply for permits and clearances for the aircraft itself,
02:55and for the passengers, the cargo, and everything else in that airplane.
03:02If it was not kept from the C.I.Q., then there is a possibility that it took off without the clearances of those airlines.
03:09Okay. Anyway, is Harry Roque still in the country?
03:14Is he still in the immigration lookout of the B.I.?
03:17And will his wife be the one who will be contacted by the Quad Committee?
03:21Yes. For now, we do not have a record of them leaving the country.
03:25But it does not mean that they are still here.
03:29You just do not have a record of them leaving the country?
03:31We're basing on the immigration records and what we have processed, no attempts to leave the country.
03:37Okay. Thank you very much for the time you shared in Balitang Hali.
03:41Thank you and good morning.
03:43This is Bureau of Immigration Spokesperson, Dana Sandoval.
04:29Thank you very much.
04:30Thank you very much.
