00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03A ÂŁ1,000 reward has been offered after a series of knife point robberies in Derbyshire,
00:08including one incident where a brave shopkeeper fought off the armed robber using a mop.
00:13Several amounts of cash have been stolen from shops during seven robberies in recent weeks.
00:19Now independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to ÂŁ1,000
00:23for information they exclusively receive, which significantly assists officers in their investigation.
00:30Chief Inspector Chris Thornhill said,
00:32These offences have understandably caused concern, and a team of detectives are following
00:36a number of lines of inquiry in an effort to bring the man responsible to justice.
00:41I know there are people in the community who know who this man is,
00:44and they know the right thing to do is to come forward.
00:47We have thankfully seen nobody physically hurt in the incident so far,
00:50but any person who is willing to arm themselves with a knife is putting our community at serious
00:55risk. We are increasing both our uniform and plainclothes patrols, as well as armed response
01:01officers including potential targets as part of their patrol strategies. I would urge anyone who
01:06has any information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward as soon as possible.
