03:37The countdown is almost over as Azerbaijan's capital Baku is getting ready to host COP29,
03:42the world's most important meeting on climate change, for 10 days starting Monday.
03:47Around 200 countries will be represented here to address the urgent need to prevent irreversible
03:52damage of the climate crisis.

03:55The world is already off track to meet the Paris Agreement's goal to limit temperature
04:00rises to below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
04:03We've witnessed events such as recent floods in Spain and the deadly effects of global

04:09Now, the core of this year's meeting is finance.
04:12Will developed countries be able to contribute more and help poor nations deal with the effects
04:17of the climate crisis?
04:18Although this year the leaders of some of the biggest world's economies and top polluters,
04:24including the US, which will come to Baku following an election that will put Donald
04:28Trump back in power in 2025, China, Xi Jinping, Francis Macron, including the president of
04:34the European Commission, will not attend the summit.
04:36So will this COP29 still be able to meet its goals despite this?
04:40Well, the agenda set by Azerbaijan's presidency is highly ambitious.
