00:00The government and the private sector are working together to ensure that POGO's operation in the country will not succeed.
00:08This is in accordance with the formal order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to immediately ban POGO in the Philippines.
00:15Here is the report.
00:18Effective today, all POGO's are banned by the end of the year.
00:24That was the announcement of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his 3rd State of the Nation Address last July
00:31in accordance with the operation of POGO's in the country.
00:33In order for the President's directive to have an effect,
00:36Executive Order No. 74 was issued ordering the immediate cessation of POGO's operation
00:43as well as Internet Gaming Licenses and other Offshore Gaming Licenses in the country.
00:48This is in accordance with the government's directive to protect the interests of national security, public safety,
00:54maintaining public order, and upholding the rule of law.
00:58Especially in the study of the Finance Department,
01:01POGO's activities have a negative effect such as the increase of crime and exploitation of some individuals
01:07which is heavier than the economic and social benefits that the country is getting from the POGO industry.
01:13Under the Executive Order, the Technical Working Group on Employment Recovery and Reintegration will be formed
01:19in order to respond to the effects of the cessation of POGO.
01:23This is led by the Court of Appeal.
01:25While the TWG on Anti-Illegal Offshore Gaming Operations led by PAOK and DOJ
01:32has ordered to strengthen the presence of illegal POGOs
01:36as well as to investigate and respond to those involved in the offshore gaming industry.
01:41The President ordered PAOK, PDEA, PNP, and other law enforcement agencies
01:46to further strengthen their operations against illegal POGOs.
01:50While the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development is urging
01:54that such activities in subdivisions, condominiums, and other real estate developments
02:01as well as in tourism establishments and facilities should not be operated.
02:06All government agencies, including local governments and private sectors,
02:11were urged to support the implementation of the so-called EO.
02:14The PAG Corp was also ordered to follow the President's Directive
02:17regarding the immediate cessation of POGO and IGL in the country.
02:21House Speaker Martin Lumualdez supported the President's mandate and insisted
02:26that this action is anchored in the action being carried out by the Camera
02:30to discuss illegal activities connected to POGOs.
02:34Senator Wynne Gatchalian recognized the President's firm position on POGOs.
02:38She said that this is just a proof of the government's commitment
02:41to ensure the safety of the public.
02:44According to Senator Joel Villanueva,
02:46this shows the dedication of the government to permanently close POGOs
02:50while tightening the restrictions of the displays of Filipino workers.
