00:00The Office of Civil Defense, or OCD, reported that over 30,000 individuals have been affected
00:06by Typhoon Marseille.
00:08OCD Undersecretary Ariel Nipamoseno explained the recovery efforts have extended from the
00:13previous typhoons Christine and Lyon.
00:16As of the latest data, 17,019 individuals, or 2,059 families, are currently in evacuation
00:23centers in Regions 1, 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region, or CAR.
00:29Meanwhile, 10,792 families, equivalent to 32,138 individuals, have been recorded as
00:36severely affected in these regions.
00:39The most recent update received by the OCD shows five bridges in Region 2 are not accessible
00:45and eight road sections across Regions 1, 2, and CAR are closed.
00:49There have also been reports of landslides in Cagayan and Ilocos Norte.
00:54A seawall in Pagodbud collapsed due to the impact of Typhoon Marseille.
00:58Fourteen local government units, or LGUs, have also reported power interruptions in
01:03Regions 1, 2, and CAR.
01:05According to Nipamoseno, while they wait for the final field reports, he assured that necessary
01:10aid has been prepositioned in compliance with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcus
01:15Jr., including clean water, food packs from DSWD, and non-food items, such as hygiene
01:21and medical kits, from the DOH.
01:23In their initial report, they have distributed 187,875 family food packs and expect this
01:30number to increase.
01:31In addition, the OCD also confirmed that assets from the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine
01:54National Police, such as generator sets, have been deployed to affected areas like Ilocos.
01:59Under the leadership of Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., a call was made to LGUs
02:05for immediate pre-emptive evacuations to avoid casualties due to the storm's impact.
02:10The OCD, in partnership with the DILG, also called for the use of geo-hazard maps to improve
02:16the relocation efforts for communities frequently affected by disasters.
