00:25President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has also passed two laws that will strengthen our rights in the Philippine territories.

00:34The President provided the ceremonial signing of the Philippine Maritime Zone Act and Philippine Archaeologic Sea Lanes Act.

00:42The Philippine Maritime Zone Act allows the country to improve the rights and benefits in the maritime area.

00:49The rich also gained from these by following the Philippine Constitution and International Law,

00:54especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, or UNCLOS.

00:58While the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act

01:01is pushing for the establishment of archipelagic sea lanes in the waters surrounding the country

01:06in order to avoid arbitral international passage in the territory of the Philippines.

01:11This includes the non-regulation or controlled passage of foreign vehicles in the waters of a country.

01:17In the context of the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act,

01:20its aim is to prohibit the passage of foreign vehicles in the waters

01:26in order to ensure the control of the Philippines in its waters.

01:31According to the President, these two laws are important

01:34to show the country's importance in the International Rules-Based Order.

01:39The government's clear commitment to protecting the nation's natural resources

01:43and firm commitment to the survival of Filipinos,

01:47especially fishermen, who do not experience drought.

01:51It will also show the country's commitment to the protection of the country's maritime zones

01:56as well as the protection of the maritime domain.

01:59These laws will also support the establishment of international laws

02:04and show the Philippines' responsibility to the international community.
