00:00Today's momentous occasion affords the Filipino people to dwell deeper on the magnitude of
00:05their good fortune in having an archipelago for a country which has one of the longest
00:10coastlines on the planet.
00:11A message the President shared and enjoined all his compatriots to internalize on the
00:16occasion of Maritime and Archipelagic Awareness Month, or simply Manamo, your heritage or
00:22inherited gift, whose details our Kenneth Paciente lays out in this story.
00:28As the second largest archipelagic country in the world, the Philippines joined the celebration
00:33of Maritime and Archipelagic Awareness Month, or Manamo.
00:36In his message, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized how fortunate the country is
00:41to have vast maritime and archipelagic resources that Filipinos benefit from.
00:46He also urged Filipinos to fulfill their role as stewards of these resources.
00:51This year's celebration of Manamo is a clarion call to raise greater consciousness on maritime
00:58and archipelagic concerns, as well as to engage our people in protecting our maritime
01:04interests and resources from various threats.
01:07The President also highlighted the importance of cooperation in protecting these natural
01:11resources, especially the role of the youth.
01:14I encourage everyone, especially our youth, to support and to join the countrywide coastal
01:20cleanup and conservation activities.
01:23The Chief Executive stressed that every Filipino can do something to preserve and protect the
01:28country's natural resources.
01:30Everything starts from each of us, and with all of us working together, we will soon harvest
01:36the fruits of our hard work and realize a sustainable and greener future for everyone
01:42to enjoy.
01:43Maritime and Archipelagic Awareness Month is celebrated alongside Fish Conservation
01:47Week, International Coastal Cleanup Day, and National Maritime Day.
