00:00live right here on the early line. The opening week of this
00:05college basketball season does continue. Huge game tomorrow
00:10night. Top ten till in Lawrence, Kansas between the Jayhawks and
00:14the Tar Heels but elsewhere DRS before we get to Thursday or
00:18before we get to Friday, it is Thursday here in college hoops.
00:22We'll go around the country. One ranked team in action
00:25tonight in SEC territory. Number twenty-one Florida hosts
00:29Jacksonville. The number on the screen slightly outdated.
00:32Just how college basketball works by the time you reach the
00:34morning of these days of the actual games. Twenty and a half
00:39was the number. Florida now laying twenty-three and a half
00:42against Jacksonville and if you wanna keep it under twenty-four,
00:45you gotta pay some juice. It's minus 120. If you can get in
00:50early on non-conference college basketball games, heck, even
00:54conference college basketball games and the line works to
00:57your favor, it is always a very good sign. Sometimes when
01:00you see line and market movement DRS, you're like, okay,
01:04people are wagering on that a ton or maybe I'm getting a
01:06better of the number because I still feel very strongly. This
01:09is the right side in college basketball more than most. If
01:13the market moves, it is for a reason. Florida now a 23 and a
01:18half point favorite against Jacksonville tonight. Yeah, a
01:21lot of these teams really flex their muscles early in the
01:24season by absolutely hammering these teams that aren't as
01:26talented and we see it on a night-to-night basis last
01:28night. Hey, Sacred Heart goes to play, you know, UConn. Oh,
01:31this is a new UConn team. What are we going to get? A little
01:33bit sluggish to start. You saw the final score easily covering
01:36into the mid-thirties here. You get those sort of vibes today
01:38from Florida and Jacksonville. The only good thing I guess is
01:40Jacksonville's not too far away from Florida where they're
01:42playing. So, it's not as if they had to travel 500, 600
01:45miles just to get to town. So, maybe there's that but it's
01:48hard. Like in action last night, I can look at some
01:50statistics because those guys have played a couple games and
01:52maybe catch a bat. It's very hard for me to start the season
01:55where I don't do a lot of research on these teams just to
01:57try to take a flyer on players I don't know which is why Ken
02:00Palm is the single best college basketball betting source you
02:04can have but it doesn't work for me until January. It
02:08doesn't. What do you mean it doesn't work? Like you have
02:10like the numbers. There's not enough numbers. No. The perfect
02:14scenario for me is ten conference games being played.
02:17It's a very short sweet spot but they're really profitable
02:20because you can look at those statistics and go game by game
02:22and they're fantastic. Right. But it's hard to say those same
02:25statistics where Florida's going to be playing Alabama are
02:27the same as Florida versus Jacksonville. It just doesn't
02:29help me out that much. For sure, right? You have the power
02:33ratings and the projections of what Kenneth Pomeroy does and
02:36they are very sound. Just for instance, we know Florida's
02:39going to be a really good offensive team. Walter Clayton
02:41there for Todd Golden. It's how they're going to do things in
02:44Gainesville and they play at a fast tempo. Twentieth fastest
02:47right now in college basketball. Those numbers will
02:50become more secure of course as this season plays out.
02:53Certainly by the time we get to conference action. Total 153
02:56and a half. Florida did score ninety-eight in its season
02:59opener against South Florida. Of course a tough night for USF
03:02basketball after the sudden passing of their head coach
03:05Amir Abdul Rahim. So that was an interesting game. Florida
03:08did struggle early but they ended up winning by fifteen
03:11ninety-eight eighty-three. Multiple Big Ten teams in
03:15action for their second games of the year. Wisconsin hosts
03:19Montana State. Montana State has been a tournament team here
03:22as of late. In fact, their head coach Danny Sprinkle now in
03:27Washington. Sixteen and a half point spread in favor of the
03:30Badgers. Iowa a slow start but Peyton Sanford is going to be
03:33one of the best players in the Big Ten. He nearly had a triple
03:36double for the Hawkeyes in their opener. Twenty-four and a
03:39half point favorite against Southern. Michigan State big
03:42weekend and early next week on the horizon. Twenty-seven and a
03:45half point favorite against Niagara. USC and Eric Musselman.
03:50Ton of new players in LA of course under a new coaching
03:53staff. Twenty-three and a half point favorite in the Galen
03:55Center against Idaho State. So many games we got up there.
03:58What is it? Six total. I'm going to say you would go four
04:01and two worst case scenario laying the points in every one
04:05of those spots. What do you think about that? What do you
04:07think? I think that's right. I actually think that I think
04:09it's very fair, right? Yeah. It's tough, Donnie, right? To
04:12look at these numbers and say, oh. Yeah. Here's why I think
04:15Southern is going to keep it close against Iowa, right?
04:18Their style of play is going to limit what the Hawkeyes do.
04:22Sure, Iowa's defense is not whatever your reasoning might
04:25be. Yeah. The numbers are the numbers. It's going to sound
04:28really dumb like the standard is the standard. The numbers of
04:30the numbers right now in this portion of the season for a
04:34reason, right? We showed you some of the recaps of yesterday.
04:37There's going to be some monumental upsets like
04:39Villanova getting beat at home by double digits as a seventeen
04:42and a half point favorite. There are going to be some
04:46underdogs that cover like Lipscomb last night losing by
04:49sixteen as a seventeen point dog against Arkansas but more
04:53than likely Donnie's point is pretty sound. Connecticut was
04:57laying thirty-four and a half last night. They went by
04:59thirty-six. Rutgers was laying seventeen and a half last night
05:02against an NCAA tournament team in Wagner. They won that game
05:05by twenty-three, right? The edges are not monumental right
05:09now unless you really feel as though you have some. It
05:12probably makes sense to see hefty favorites and lay a
05:15couple of those prices.
