00:00I'm off to speak with Chris from Ness Aviation who's taking part in the World Flight Charity event.
00:10My name is Christian Abbey. My name is Gideon Dyke. And we're flying World Flight event.
00:16So we started in Sydney on the Saturday 9pm past Saturday and we're flying back to Sydney
00:23on the next Saturday at 12 o'clock. We're doing 42 flights so flying non-stop around the world
00:29raising money for charity and the charity is Scottish Air Ambulance. Scottish Air Ambulance
00:34charity is a good charity obviously to support and it's also part of good fun and you know make
00:41it as realistic as possible. It started in 1999 and since then obviously grown to over 20 teams
00:47doing this kind of stuff. They raised over millions of dollars for different different
00:52charities around the world and yeah it's our first time and probably not the first not the last.
00:57I think this is really important because if people are watching at home they could be inspired to
01:03pursue a career in aviation but also of course it's really important to be able to raise money
01:09for the Air Ambulance because they do such important work so being able to help them
01:16is just really rewarding and I think that's a big part of it. Four or five years ago Covid came in
01:22and I had nothing else to do so I built a whole simulator by hand, wired every single switch and
01:27then it turned into this kind of business. I started about when I was 15 years old flying
01:35with a first experience flight and then I earned my private pilot's license and got to know Chris
01:43through the flight school and now I've had the opportunity to come and help with this. It's
01:49definitely tiring. I don't even know if it's a day or night anymore. Some of the other guys
01:55have been flying here, been flying for 20 hours non-stop and then some of them were sleeping in
02:01a car for two or four hours and then we're back in again for 10-16 hours and obviously there's work
02:07still in between and other life which for some of us doesn't exist right now for the whole week.
02:12We literally go home, sleep, come back and fly again. So yeah it's definitely demanding on your
02:18brain and physical and mental, you know, talking to traffic controllers and dealing with all this
02:24but it's good fun. I'll need probably a week to recover after that.
