Adam Peters giving Marshon Lattimore to Dan Quinn could make the defense much better very quickly.
Transcript
00:00How about him saying he thinks Lattimore is still an elite corner, says he's the type
00:04of guy that you want defending wide receiver ones, gets up for the matchup, let him travel,
00:11let him chirp and get in their head.
00:12I mean, his matchups over the years with Mike Evans are iconic, like the stuff of legend.
00:17Those guys, more than any players I can remember, hate each other's guts.
00:21They're quite literally being separated after every play and they're fighting and throwing
00:26punches and getting ejected.
00:27I mean, it's crazy how those guys feel about one another.
00:30Having said that, it sounds like he's that type of player.
00:32He is a, I'm with you all day long, I'm going to get under your skin, I'm going to get in
00:36your head, and he wants to basically travel around with one guy.
00:40This is a pretty darn good place to come to do that, because if you can just have him
00:43take on George Pickens this week, AJ Brown next week, CD Lamb against Dallas twice, and
00:50then the rest of the depth chart, St. Joost, maybe inside with San Restille, Igbenagany,
00:56those guys can handle the rest of the receivers.
00:58It's just a different world for this defense.
01:00You get a lot better really fast.
01:02We talk about all the time with quarterbacks making defenses go 11 on 11 with running games.
01:06Well, it's a similar advantage for the defense, if not more so, to go 10 on 10, right?
01:11Where you, in order to stop a really good wide receiver or any wide receiver, quite
01:15frankly, you've got to roll coverages.
01:17You've got to have help, short, intermediate, deep, certain kinds of coverages you have
01:20to run.
01:21If you're worried about somebody getting beat over the top, you have to have shells.
01:24And the paradigm in the NFL has changed because everybody's so sick of allowing big chunk
01:29plays.
01:30That's why you see passing totals.
01:31It's now like, I don't want to say it's rare, but it's rarer for those 300 yard passing
01:35totals.
01:36Remember a handful of years ago with breeze and Brady and Manning and rivers and everybody
01:40was like, if you didn't throw for 320 yards, did you even play quarterback today, bro?
01:44That's just different, right?
01:45Where things are more underneath.
01:46So that's because that's how coverages are.
01:48If you've got all the options on the table, because you've got one guy that can shove
01:51it on somebody that is a massive strategic advantage.
