The Washington Commanders game against the New Orleans Saints looks a little easier as they should see Spencer Rattler at QB after Derek Carr fractured his left hand Sunday.

00:00Let's begin in the NFL here out of the bye week
00:04with how things worked out for the commanders.
00:07Because I would say overall that yesterday
00:09was immensely helpful to Washington.
00:12Starting with, first and foremost,
00:15Derek Carr suffering an injury.
00:17So I hope he's okay.
00:19Stinks, part of the game, obviously.
00:21But the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints,
00:24who's a pro, whatever you think of Derek Carr,
00:26I know he's the butt of a lot of jokes.
00:27He's not in the cool club, right?
00:29People think the guy stinks.
00:30But when he's on the field, they're a better football team.
00:32They are three and one in their last four games
00:35with him having been healthy now with a new coaching staff.
00:39And he's very unlikely to play against Washington.
00:41Looks like a fracture of the hand,
00:44so he is now done and cooked
00:46for the remainder of the season, very likely,
00:48if the reporting's all correct
00:49and the imaging today comes out
00:51the way that it was supposed to.
00:53That means Washington going to New Orleans this Sunday.
00:57The play at the Superdome is going to get,
01:00very likely, Spencer Rattler or maybe Jake Hayner,
01:05one of the number quarterbacks
01:07on the depth chart for the New Orleans Saints.
01:09I would think they'd roll with Rattler
01:11just because you just drafted the kid
01:13and now it's a lost season
01:15and you're playing out the string,
01:16so why not give him a shot?
01:18He's thrown 99 passes this year.
01:20Has a touchdown, two interceptions,
01:22started three games, they lost all three of them.
01:24And he struggled, as you'd expect for a 24-year-old
01:28who was drafted in the fifth round in his rookie season.
01:31Started his college career at Oklahoma,
01:34transferred to South Carolina.
01:37But playing a Saints team
01:38led by a late-round rookie quarterback,
01:41very, very different than if you're going out
01:43and playing against a veteran
01:44who's put some pelts on the wall.
01:45So that was probably the most influential item
01:50on the weekend as far as Washington goes
01:53that that Saints game, which already was a scheduled win,
01:57got a little bit easier.
01:58Now you gotta go play the game, right?
01:59You don't just get to show up and roll the football out.
