00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved the expansion of the construction period and some adjustments to the two primary anti-flood projects.

00:15Good morning. The NEDA Board approved President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to extend the construction period of the two major anti-flood control projects.

00:26This includes the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project whose implementation period is from October 2019 to April 2024.

00:36But based on the approval of the NEDA Board, the extension period is about 65 months, particularly from April 2024 to September 2029.

00:48According to President Marcos, more detailed engineering is needed to match the change in the time of the project.

00:55The project's goal is to reduce the amount of rain in the lower part of the Saruan River Basin and near Maalimango Creek Drainage Area in the Cavite area.

01:05According to the approval of the flood control project, the total project cost will increase by 122.79 percent or from more than P6 million,

01:17it will reach more than P22 million. Meanwhile, the 74.32 percent increase or P24,599.29 million in total project cost

01:31will be the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project Phase 4. From more than P0.3 million, it will reach P57 million.

01:42The Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project aims to reduce the amount of rain in Metro Manila due to the construction of the Pasig-Marikina River.

01:50The residents of Pasig, Marikina and Quezon City in Metro Manila and the towns of Taytay and Cainta in Rizal will benefit from this.

02:00The President has said that he expects a lot of changes in the construction of infrastructure in the country.

02:07According to the President, there needs to be a change in the planning of infrastructure, especially since what we are experiencing now is extreme weather condition

02:17where there are places that were not flooded but are now drowning.

02:23That is why there needs to be a lot of changes in the planning of infrastructure that we are building. That is what needs to be done.

02:34According to the President, the construction of the three dams in front of the Pasig-Marikina River was also looked at by the board.
