00:20Joshua was given another chance by the House Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability

00:26to face the next hearing

00:32because if not, they are expected to be dismissed by the contempt order.

00:38It was passed this morning by the House Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability

00:47on the continued fond misuse of the Office of the Vice President

00:50The Department of Education, Vice President Sara Duterte, is also leading this.

00:56The confidential funds of the agencies were given in particular

01:00which were used for questionable purposes.

01:03In his opening statement, the Chairwoman of the Committee, Joelle Chua,

01:07stated that they only wanted to see the truth.

01:11They also wanted to form paramilitary police

01:14who will not be able to abuse the funds of the government,

01:17particularly the confidential funds.

01:20The seven officials of the Office of the Vice President are facing a hearing.

01:24However, they did not attend.

01:27Another one of them is Atty. Zuleika Lopez,

01:30Chief of Staff of Vice President Duterte,

01:33who was confirmed to fly to Los Angeles, California last night.

01:37The officials were repeatedly invited but they did not attend

01:41because they did not attend the hearing that was held in aid of legislation.

01:46Instead of being dismissed by the contempt order,

01:48the officials were given a chance by congressmen

01:51to face their next hearing.

01:54Let's listen to the part of the statement earlier of Congressman Chua.

01:59It is clear that it is easy to abuse the confidential funds

02:03if the charges are too broad in their use.

02:08COA has been basically reduced to the ministerial task

02:12of checking whether the documents required to be submitted

02:16with respect to the confidential expenses are complete

02:20without even checking the veracity of the information contained in these documents

02:25compared to the audit of regular funds

02:28where transactions need further substantiation.

02:32This must be addressed to prevent not only leakage of government resources

02:38but to close an avenue for graft and corruption.

02:46At the hearing, Atty. Michael Poa was one of the speakers of Vice President Sara Duterte.

02:53But Joshua, earlier in the hearing, he confirmed that he is no longer connected to the OVP

02:58and he is no longer the speaker of the Vice President. Joshua?

03:02Yes, Mela. When do you expect the committee report,

03:07the house panel, to be completed regarding the issue of humanoid fund misuse?

03:11Joshua, actually, in our interviews with Committee Chair Joel Chua,

03:19that is one of the questions we always ask.

03:21Today, Joshua, we expect that the committee will wrap up

03:26not only on their hearing on fund misuse

03:29but it is clear that since they gave an opportunity to the OVP officials

03:34who are not facing their next hearing,

03:36they still have their next hearing.

03:38This committee report, Joshua, will usually be completed when this committee is wrapped up.

03:45That is one of the things we are waiting for now.

03:47But Joshua, what Committee Chair Joel Chua is saying is that

03:51this committee report will contain all of their findings regarding the investigation

03:56as well as the recommendation to improve the administration of funds

04:01of the government, especially the confidential funds. Joshua?
