00:00Change the law. This is what political analyst Professor Antonio Contreras is trying to do as a result of the public's reaction to the impeachment of the candidate of an individual who is facing a case.
00:15Just like the impeachment of Pastor Apollo Kimuloy, who is currently in jail by his COC for being a senator on the last day of the COC filing yesterday.
00:25Contreras explained that under the current law, it is legal or allowed, even if there is a case or the decision is not yet finalized, anyone can still run.
00:37This is not a solution to stop these people from running.
00:41Contreras thinks that there should be a condition for their running.
00:47They can be allowed to run as a candidate, but they have to pay a bond equivalent to the salary and the benefits that they will receive if they win for their entire terms.
00:59So that if you are found guilty in the future, even if you are in jail, you will not be able to get the bond that you paid.
01:10If you are acquitted, you will be refunded without interest.
