00:00The NEDA promised that the country will remain on track when it comes to the movement of the prices of the main goods in the country.
00:09However, despite the rapid inflation this October, the government agencies were added by President Marcos Jr.
00:22to reduce the effect of calamities on the goods.
00:25Joshua Garcia in Central News.
00:30The National Economic and Development Authority promised that the prices of the main goods in the country will remain stable
00:36despite the reported rapid inflation for the month of October this year.
00:41According to the NEDA, although it increased by a portion, from 2.3% in October 2024 to 1.9% in September,
00:49it is still considered stable if it is based on the target of the government of 2.0% to 4.0% inflation rate.
00:56The Philippine Statistics Authority or PSA explained that the main cause of the rapid inflation
01:02is the increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, especially rice.
01:07According to National Statistician Dr. Dennis Mapa,
01:09it is also a source of calamities and it can also be experienced until next week, this November.
01:16There are rising prices and of course, the expectation is that this month of November,
01:24maybe the first two weeks, we will also see an increase in the prices of vegetables.
01:32So we are tracking that. Normally, we see that after the typhoon and then it will normalize.
01:38According to the PSA, although the prices of some foods like vegetables, seafood, chicken and bananas are increasing,
01:45the prices of rice and corn are still high.
01:48Our expectation is that it will peak. This is just a blip.
01:54And we expect that it will go down again, inflation rate and of course, the price level per kilo in the coming months,
02:05November and December.
02:07While also included in the big impact on the inflation of the household sector, water, electricity and other fuel products,
02:14it is also said that the government will continue to take steps and efforts to address the challenges,
02:19such as the trials and tribulations of bad weather that also have a contribution to the rise of the inflation rate in the country.
02:24According to the Central Bank of the Philippines, the said inflation rate of 2.3% for the month of October
02:29is still within their forecast range of 2.0% to 2.8%.
02:34Meanwhile, their Monetary Board will continue to implement measures to maintain price stability and sustain the economy.
02:43Joshua Garcia for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
