00:00Comelec is preparing for their first BARMM parliamentary elections for next year despite the request to postpone the election.
00:12This is what Louisa Erisco reported.
00:15The Commission on Elections is in support of the preparations for the first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao or BARMM
00:27despite the request of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority to postpone the election for the next year due to the separation of Sulu and BARMM.
00:38For Comelec, only the law can stop the election.
00:42We want to show that Comelec will not be affected by those who can file such a request because again, as long as there is no law, the Commission on Elections is prepared.
00:52We will finish the filing of the candidacy from November 4 to 9.
00:56To those who are waiting, our fellow countrymen, your Commission is here and therefore we are willing and able and we will be accepting all your certificates of candidacy.
01:09To show the Commission's strength in preparing for the parliamentary elections, they personally went to Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Norte for the COC and CONCAN filing.
01:21According to the Commission, in the entire BARMM, some submitted COC for the district representative and some submitted CONCAN for the political party list.
01:30One of their wishes is for the election to continue in 2025.
01:34We, the religious leaders, have nothing to do other than being here in the Parliament.
01:42Because you know, the Parliament is making laws.
01:47So, it might not be good for us if there are laws that are against the teachings of Islam, which is the moral, the moral governance, that is Islam.
01:57So, we might blame the religious leaders.
02:02Personally, we will call both the Houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate to disregard that kind of proposal and tell the Conglomerate to proceed with the elections.
02:18In the last parliamentary elections, 73 positions will be filled in BARMM.
02:2340 for the nominees of the political party, 25 for the district representative, and 8 for the sectoral representative.
02:31But only two will be voted by the voters, one political party and one district representative.
02:38The Commission explained that the parliamentary elections will be held simultaneously in the national and local elections on May 12.
02:43That is why it will be a bigger expense if it will not continue.
02:48It is more expensive if it is automated.
02:50If we automate here in Bangsamoro, we might spend P3 billion.
02:56Here in May 12, the elections will be held simultaneously in the national and local elections.
03:07That is why it will not be that expensive.
03:09The Conglomerate is challenging the candidates they want for the parliamentary elections.
03:13If they want the elections to be peaceful, they will be the ones to call on their supporters so that there will be no chaos in the upcoming elections.
03:21Luisa Erispe for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
