A businessman and two Vietnamese nationals were charged at the Johor Baru Sessions Court on Monday (Nov 4) with kidnapping a 59-year-old developer for a 20 million ringgit ransom.

46-year-old Chong Shih Ming and Vietnamese nationals Luong Van Tung and Tran Van Chung allegedly kidnapped the victim on Jalan Straits View in Johor Baru on October 13th, with a fourth suspect who is still at large.

00:06on Monday with kidnapping a 59-year-old developer for a 20 million ringgit ransom.
00:12Forty-six-year-old Chong She Ming and Vietnamese nationals Luong Van Thong and Tran Van Chong
00:17allegedly kidnapped the victim on Jalan Strait's View in Johor Bahru on October 13, with a
00:23fourth suspect who is still at large.
00:26Chong denied the charge, while Luong and Tran requested for a Vietnamese interpreter
00:31as they did not understand the charge read in Bahasa Malaysia.
00:35Sessions' judge Cheywan Zaidi Cheywan Ibrahim set bail at 50,000 ringgit for Chong, and
00:41he is also required to report to the nearest police station once a month and surrender
00:46his international passport.
00:48The court said for the two other accused, no bail was offered and it will be reconsidered
00:53after the charge is read to them by a Vietnamese interpreter on November 17.
00:58Meanwhile, a Vietnamese woman Nguyen Ngoc Ngan was charged at a magistrate's court
01:04with the disposal of a vehicle that was used in the same kidnapping case.
01:09The 36-year-old pleaded not guilty to disposing of a Japanese-made sedan car in Taman Johor
01:15Jaya on October 24.
01:17Associate A Sharmini set bail at 7,000 ringgit and also fixed November 17 for next mention.
01:24According to previous news reports, the victim was scheduled to go on a business trip when
01:29the incident occurred.
01:31The kidnappers demanded a 30 million ringgit ransom, and after negotiating, it was reduced
01:36to 20 million ringgit.
01:38Police arrested a total of 14 suspects, including a local woman who is the victim's relative.
