Chadsmoor has many families that need support and thanks to lottery funding West Chadsmoor Family Hub will be able to continue with there good work.

00:00Heather, we're here at West Chaddsmoor Family Centre and a bit of a special day today, what's happening?
00:05Today we are celebrating our Lottery project which is known as Blossom and Flourish
00:11and today we're doing a launch day for everybody to know what we're doing in West Chaddsmoor for all the families locally.
00:19Well yeah, you're very busy down here aren't you? You manage the centre.
00:22What's some of the stuff that you get up to in ways of supporting families here Heather?
00:25Well we offer activity sessions for the parents and children who have babies and toddlers.
00:31We also offer education to the parents supported by a creche.
00:36We offer a parent support group also supported by a creche.
00:40We've got an allotment, we've got a family support worker who works one to one with the families.
00:49We run a community table as well that give out food one day a week and we run a lunch club too, so a lot of things going on.
00:59So that Lottery grant, that just basically means you can keep the doors open and keep doing what you do well.
01:04That's right, for another three years. We started in May so we've got until 2027 now and then we have to start looking for funding again.
01:12That's a very arduous task I'm sure.
01:15You've got some fun events going on today, what's been happening? I've heard a lot of kids laughing their heads off.
01:20Yeah we've got Fabuluni who are doing a magic show and face painting and they've done all the balloon arches that are everywhere.
01:32And they are a local children's entertainment company who we work with quite a lot.
01:39Then on top of that we've got Messy Play in the Conservatory for all the little ones and we're doing ghosts, making ghosts and we're painting stones.
01:50And we're also doing food so they can have burgers and sausages and things like that.
01:56I thought I could smell something on the grill.
01:58So you must be busy down here, is it a centre like this here in Chaddsmore? I should imagine there's a lot of families that do need support.
02:07There is and it is very well attended. We do a few drop in sessions so anybody can come along.
02:13We do have a Facebook page and a website both under West Chaddsmore Family Centre if anybody wants to have a look.
02:20I think there's an Instagram page as well so it shows what goes on here.
02:25And then we do a series of drop in sessions people can come along to.
02:30We also do some targeted sessions where people book on to the sessions.
02:35Through our email address so we have a booking system.
02:38So yeah it's quite busy and as soon as we put the things up they're more or less full.
