00:00We're here at Grand Station in Wolverhampton and it's a bit of a celebratory mark of this one.
00:06Just fill us in on who you represent ladies.
00:09We're from the Haven Wolverhampton, a local charity supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse.
00:14Cool. And we've got Danny from the venue here.
00:18So what's this all about then Chloe? Fill us in.
00:21So every year for the past 10 years, Danny at Grand Station has organised these amazing Christmas events
00:27where we're invited along to do raffles. So we sell raffle tickets on the night and we raise over £5,500
00:34over the six evenings at the Grand Station, which is absolutely amazing.
00:39You've been working with the Haven for a few years now haven't you Danny?
00:42Why the Haven? What's special about them? I mean we kind of know really, but go on.
00:46What is it that caught your eye?
00:48It's always great to support a local charity, but the events industry is predominantly female led,
00:53if that's weddings or if that's corporate events.
00:55So what we look to do is to help a charity from the local area that's female led.
01:00And that's what we've been doing with Haven and we've had some great results over the past few years and I hope it continues.
01:06Fantastic. Who have you got with you then Chloe? Who are these girls that are helping out today?
01:11So we've got Lauren Beamon, our fundraising officer, and we've got Anna Pendlebury who's our fundraising manager.
01:18So, I mean, you don't get given loads of money from the government.
01:21These events are important, aren't they, to keep you ticking over, to keep you going.
01:25How many people is it you think you help each year? Do you put numbers on it?
01:29Yeah, so currently in our refuge and safe housing accommodation we provide support for 77 women and 100 children.
01:36That's in our emergency accommodation, as well as 200 families in the community as well.
01:41Wow, that's a big operation isn't it? And how long has the Haven been going for?
01:45We celebrated our 50th year last year, so we're into our 51st year.
01:50Yeah, awesome work. Well, thank you for all the great work you do here.
01:54Let's just zoom in on this amazing amount. Thank you for everyone that's played a part in getting to this target.
02:00And most of all, thank you Danny. Cheers buddy.
