00:00The idea of the STEM Observatory was born more than five years ago.
00:08The Deloitte Network, being one of the largest in the world of professional services,
00:13is very focused on the topic of talents and human capital,
00:17so the choice to focus our attention on these topics was a natural choice.
00:24In particular, as a Deloitte Foundation, we have three statutory objectives,
00:28namely education and research, so we have seen this convergence with good eyes.
00:34We have reached the third edition, the first was in 2020, the second in 2022,
00:39and the latter is the one we are presenting today.
00:42The objective is to investigate the phenomenon of STEM subjects,
00:46starting from the factual data, which is the lack of STEM profiles,
00:50with an emphasis that we wanted to put from the first edition on the gender gap,
00:54because it is a great vulnus, a great lack,
00:57which means that they are greatly weakened as a presence
01:01by the fact that girls access these subjects in a very, very small way.
01:08And above all, starting from these findings,
01:11we went to investigate, with a very extensive demoscopic investigation,
01:14on ten European countries, what are the determining factors of the choices,
01:18or of the non-choices, to undertake this path of study.
01:22This year, the title includes the theme of the energy and digital transition,
01:28because, for many, it has emerged as the contribution of STEM subjects,
01:32and it will be fundamental to face these challenges,
01:35not only on the part of companies, but also on the part of institutions,
01:39and on the part of the impact that the entire society and the systems of the countries involved
01:43will have and will benefit from a greater relationship of STEM skills.
