00:00So my name is Paul Hassan. I'm the partnership manager for an organization called ACH.
00:06ACH is an organization that's focused on the support of effective integration for refugees
00:13and migrant communities. So it provides housing opportunities, but also supporting employment,
00:19setting up businesses, and help with education and training. We operate right across the West
00:24of England area and probably support close to about a thousand individuals over the course
00:29of the year. And tell me a little bit about what you've been doing in Bristol then.
00:35Yeah so in Bristol we've been working on a number of challenges. I mean if I just focus on housing
00:43which is one which I'm sure you know many of you viewers will understand is a massive challenge
00:48in Bristol. We've been looking to see to what extent we can work to find what we call meanwhile
00:55use housing opportunities. So that's buildings which are going through a planning process which
01:00can potentially provide sort of intermediate accommodation. Obviously bearing in mind we
01:05want that to be quality as well. So we've been working with a number of organizations in terms
01:11of that type of provision. We also are focused on working with the council and with other
01:19bodies to look at finding ways of looking at properties which are called derelict which are
01:27basically below habitation standards and finding ways to ensure that they can be brought back
01:35and can be therefore used for to house people who've got their leave to remain i.e they've
01:41gone through the asylum process or they've been accepted into the country as refugees.
01:46And then we've sought to find them appropriate accommodation. Probably work with you know
01:53three or four hundred individuals finding them places to stay.
01:57Most of those would be through the private rented sector.
