00:00Well hi, we're at a Bayos rehearsal today for Bayos Goes to Hollywood, which is our review at the moment, and yeah, it's all going on.
00:10So it's a cabaret style review, all based on Hollywood musicals, movie musicals, songs, soundtracks, dances, everything you could possibly want from a cinema experience.
00:22This is my first time ever directing and being this side, so I'm really enjoying that, and it's been really nice being the other side of the table for everything.
00:33We're a club, we've got a seniors group and a youth group as well, we've got about 150 odd members, and we put on two shows a year for both sections, and we do one at the Redgrave, and we do one at the Newman Hall.
00:51I think because, I really wanted to do it because I obviously love musicals, and the way that I got into musicals and discovered that I enjoyed them was watching Mary Poppins and Bugsy Malone when I was younger, so I really wanted to bring that kind of childhood joy and put it on the stage.
01:11It's a review show, which is just a bunch of musical theatre songs set to a fairly loose theme of having been in Hollywood musicals, and there's a huge range of things that we're doing, from I'm Just Ken, from Barbie, back to the Trolley song from Meaty and St. Louis in the 50s, so there's loads and loads of really good stuff.
01:34It brings a lot of community, so one of the great things is that we use a lot of different spaces for rehearsals, so getting the community involved and coming to watch things is fantastic. Bay House in particular, obviously we have the youth side of things, so encouraging children and teens to be more creative and get out of the house and do something a bit different as well.
