00:19Forces of the Philippines is now utilizing EDCA sites to get to those in need as quickly

00:30In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to revisit the Bicol River Basin
00:37Development Program, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan stated, the plan is to begin detailed
00:44engineering for the project next year, while civil works are scheduled for 2026.
00:51The Bicol region was one of the most flooded areas after the devastation brought by severe
00:58Tropical Storm Christine.
01:00This could be alleviated by the Bicol River Basin Development Program, a project of the
01:06President's father, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., but was halted in 1986.
01:14The DPWH said the project will cost a shade under 80 billion pesos, with implementation
01:21spanning from short to long term, with funding assistance from the Korean government through
01:27a soft loan.
01:56A comprehensive study is also underway for flood control across all 18 major river basins
02:04in the country, led by the DNR.
02:33These are part of the long-term solutions to flooding, while local flood control projects
02:39will continue to be prioritized.
03:01Meanwhile, continuous aid is being provided to those affected by the typhoon, with over
03:21600,000 family food packs distributed by the DSWD.
03:26According to the AFP, EDCA sites are also being utilized for rapid deployment of assets.
03:50According to the RRMC data shows, a total of 6.1 million individuals has been affected
03:57by Severe Tropical Storm Christine, and 140,000 families, or half a million individuals, remain
04:05in evacuation centers.
04:07The reported death toll has risen to 116, with 39 still missing.
