Telstra and Optus will switch off their 3G networks across the country on Monday with a warning some phones, as well as medical and GPS devices may stop working.

00:00Many elderly individuals in regional areas rely on their 3G network and their telephones
00:09for safety and security and these devices may not be able to be compatible with 4G or
00:165G.
00:17So potentially leaving them with their device in a risky situation where they're not able
00:24to ring 000 or if they have fall alarms or cardio monitors or oxygen systems which may
00:33be impacted and so they may be in a situation where they have no one else to contact or
00:39support them if there is a need.
00:41And so it's really important that those people that look after older people, those with disabilities
00:48or you have a family member that does rely on a device that has been with them for a
00:54while that they check whether that is a compatible device with the 4G changeover.
