00:00The 16th BRICS Summit continues on its third day and final day.
00:04Our Special Envoy Yunus Ă–ner brings us details from Kazan, Russia.
00:08Good evening from the city of Kazan in the Russian Federation, where the 16th Summit
00:18of the BRICS Alliance is about to end.
00:22The final public statement on behalf of the Alliance was made today's afternoon by the
00:30Russian President Vladimir Putin.
00:33Russia has the chairmanship of the BRICS this year until the end of the year.
00:39Russian President Putin stated that this is, I quote, the gathering of the truly independent
00:47and sovereign states that have chosen to follow their own path.
00:52He referred to the BRICS Plus meeting that happened today's morning in two different
00:59sessions where 35 countries participated on level of head of government or head of state.
01:06This is the platform where BRICS members take part.
01:12Those countries take part that would like to join the BRICS or that would simply would
01:16like to have better and closer relationships with BRICS.
01:20And in this format, he said that the work of BRICS will continue towards achieving a
01:28more democratic, inclusive and multipolar world.
01:33As you know, the decision was taken by the BRICS to establish a new category that is
01:41the partner country status.
01:43This has been agreed upon by the members.
01:46So this is another important issue that the President, the Russian President referred
01:52to in his press conference, in his closing press conference where he stated that there
01:58was a lot of contact between the delegations and a certain number of countries were agreed
02:04upon by the current BRICS members to invite them to join as partner countries, not fully
02:11members but partner countries.
02:13He described the path ahead as follows, that these countries would be sent an invitation,
02:20an official invitation letter and if they respond positively to this invitation letter
02:26then they would be disclosed as joining the alliance as partner countries.
02:32In the questions and answers section, there was, this has appeared, journalists from the
02:38Brazilian newspaper O Globo asked the Russian President whether, I quote, Russia would overwrite
02:45a Brazilian veto against Venezuela's application to enter the BRICS alliance.
02:52That was quite a difficult and provocative question actually because obviously these
02:59decisions are taken in BRICS on the basis of consensus and the answer of the Russian
03:06President was important.
03:08He said firstly, he acknowledged there is a difference of opinion between him and Brazilian
03:15President Lula and he added that he thinks, his government believes that there are laws
03:21in Venezuela and according to these electoral laws, Nicolas Maduro has won the elections
03:29and is the elected President of Venezuela and he also added that for him right now Venezuela
03:37is fighting, I quote, a struggle for its independence and sovereignty.
03:43So he clearly reaffirmed his support for the Venezuelan government of Nicolas Maduro and
03:50then he added that he believes that Lula, if he faces the facts objectively and as he
03:57is an integral person, that's the word of Russian President Vladimir Putin, he will
04:03come to terms with Nicolas Maduro's application for BRICS.
04:08That's the implicit message that the Russian President gave and he also added that Lula
04:13had sent a message to President Maduro via the Russian President as well.
04:19So here some dialogue will continue on the issue but besides that the summit is getting
04:25to an end.
04:26Right now the last bilateral meetings are taking place to happen until tonight.
04:33We have here local time 9.30 so they are about to end and tonight the 16th summit of the
04:42BRICS alliance will end and already some of the leaders are departing towards their home
04:48countries.
04:51Thank you Yunus for all the information.
04:53We were listening to our special envoy Yunus Unar in the framework of the 16th summit of
