00:00Deepavali is a time of great cheer and festivity.

00:04For 27-year-old Jocelyn Devi and her family, however,

00:08the festival of lights is looking dimmer this year.

00:12Jocelyn is the sole provider for her three siblings,

00:1518-year-old Anandasai Sumeta,

00:1816-year-old Anandakrishna,

00:20and 14-year-old Andrumetta.

00:22Sadly, she has had difficulty making ends meet

00:26over the past few months.

00:29Normally this year, I'm just going to do some prayers for my father

00:33because we also don't have that kind of budget to do bigger ones.

00:38And so for my sister's siblings, I ask them,

00:41do you want to do shopping?

00:42They don't want.

00:43They say, no, I can't make it.

00:46Anyway, we just pay how we can.

00:50Jocelyn has been working tirelessly to support her family

00:55and their mother left several years ago.

00:58Most of her income is derived from her home cooking business,

01:02Jo's Kitchen.

01:15According to Jocelyn, business has not been consistent

01:18and is barely enough to sustain them.

01:21But it is difficult for her to get better jobs

01:23as she has no Malaysian IC.

01:26In addition, her brother Andrew is on the autism spectrum

01:30and is unable to care for himself.

01:33Despite these challenges, Jocelyn is determined to do

01:37all that she can to help her siblings,

01:39including raising money to help Anandasai, who is in Form 6.

01:53So it's like pocket money, then school transportation.

01:57And then sometimes they will have,

01:59what is this right now?

02:00Additional.

02:03Additional people like more bills and everything.

02:06So that is what we need to cover.

02:08I want to be a lawyer.

02:10Since I was in secondary school,

02:13I really wanted to be a lawyer.

02:15And my sister at that time said that you can,

02:17but you have to study hard.

02:18We are not in a rich family.

02:19So if you study hard, then you get your scholarship.

02:22It's easy for you to pursue any kind of initiative.

02:25Jocelyn and Anandasai's Deepavali wishes this year

02:28are very simple.

02:30So I just hope that this year's Deepavali

02:33will give us happiness among only our family members,

02:37me, my brothers and my sister.

02:40Hope and wishes is just for my siblings.

02:45So nothing else.

02:47It's very hard for me to say anyone who can help me

02:50to support my siblings in their education-wise,

02:53in their expenses or anything,

02:55will be really, really helpful for me

02:57and will release my burden and pain.

03:00This is what I really want.

03:02I want them to achieve in life.
