00:00I needed you. I needed you around and you weren't there.
00:04And I was lonely. And I'm... I'm really sorry.
00:08Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks
00:11for the scenes that made us completely rethink
00:14what we thought we knew about our favorite TV characters.
00:17Be warned, this list contains massive spoilers.
00:21How do you know it'll be good?
00:23Because I know what is good.
00:25Number 20. Nancy marries a DEA agent.
00:28Weeds.
00:29On Weeds, Nancy Botwin's husband dies suddenly,
00:33leaving her without enough money to keep up the suburban life
00:36she and her sons have become accustomed to.
00:39In order to maintain her lifestyle, she enters the drug trade.
00:43However, what starts out as a way to keep her family secure
00:46inevitably ends up getting them in danger.
00:48Nancy marries Peter, a DEA agent, for her own purposes
00:52despite her son's feelings, and ends up using Peter
00:56to take down her competitors in the business.
00:58Residents were awakened to the sounds of police sirens
01:01and battering rams.
01:02Over a thousand plants were confiscated
01:04and dozens were arrested.
01:05Her remarriage marks a turning point for the show.
01:08Most anti-heroes get into crime for an all-right reason,
01:12but once they become obsessed with power,
01:14things really go south.
01:15As I was saying, I was looking for the perfect gift
01:19to get my wife, and so I got her in Neighborhood.
01:23Number 19.
01:24Allison Kills Harlan.
01:26The Umbrella Academy.
01:28This Netflix series follows a group of siblings
01:30bound together by a shared birthday
01:32and a host of different superpowers.
01:34Allison Hargreaves, also known as The Rumor,
01:38has the power of mind control.
01:40Season 3 sees the previously good-natured Allison
01:43turn hateful, power-hungry, and careless.
01:46You're the reason Claire's dead.
01:48My power spilled over, I got in my head.
01:49And the reason the whole world is ending!
01:51I couldn't stop myself.
01:54Victor knew.
01:56I'm sorry.
01:56The consequences are deadly.
01:58Her impulsive murder of Harlan Cooper turned viewers against her
02:02and started her down a path many still can't understand.
02:06How far she goes is drastic and hard to digest.
02:10It also made us look back at some of her past behaviors
02:12through a new, less forgiving lens.
02:15You end the world and take it from me!
02:19How are you doing this without saying I heard a rumor?
02:21Just a little residual gift from Harlan.
02:24All right, that's it.
02:25Number 18.
02:26Ted dumps Natalie on her birthday.
02:28Twice.
02:29How I Met Your Mother
02:30Nobody would ever claim that Ted Mosby is the perfect man,
02:34but early on in How I Met Your Mother,
02:36his antics were more charming than downright cringeworthy.
02:39All of that changes when we meet Natalie,
02:42Ted's ex whom he reconnects with.
02:44Let's not forget though that he broke up with her
02:46over the phone three years earlier, on her birthday.
02:49You really are awesome.
02:52I'm just like super busy right now,
02:54so maybe we should just call it a day.
02:58After only a few short weeks of dating again,
03:00he decides that she's not the one for him
03:03and plans to end the relationship once more, on her birthday.
03:07This was a totally heartless move on his part,
03:09especially for someone who claims to be such a hopeless romantic.
03:12I'm sorry, I just, I thought the mature thing to do would be-
03:15It's my birthday!
03:16Yes, I know, I didn't realize that it was-
03:17It's my birthday and you're telling me I'm not the one for you?
03:21It's really not such a big deal.
03:23Number 17.
03:24Michael Kills Libby and Anna Lucia, Lost
03:27One of the survivors of the ill-fated Flight 815
03:31has a tougher road than many of his fellow castaways.
03:34Michael comes into the story as a sympathetic character,
03:37a father to a young boy named Walt,
03:39but after he's kidnapped by the others,
03:42they use his love for Walt against him.
03:44I'm sorry.
03:47For what?
03:53Things come to a head when he betrays his fellow survivors
03:56and shoots Anna Lucia and Libby dead.
03:59He ultimately trades their lives for his and Walt's freedom from the island.
04:04Michael's attempted redemption arc in a later episode didn't do much good either.
04:08It's game time.
04:09Are you in or out?
04:17I'm in.
04:18Number 16.
04:20Donna Doesn't Go to College, That 70s Show
04:23In season six, Eric Foreman puts his girlfriend Donna on a bus
04:27to begin her college career while he stays behind to help look after his ailing father.
04:32But as the bus pulls away, Donna's still on the sidewalk.
04:36She says she can't leave him behind.
04:38Eric's ecstatic, and so is the studio audience.
04:42Donna, what?
04:44I couldn't do it.
04:45But viewers are still divided on the twist.
04:47The thought of Donna giving up a promising education for her boyfriend
04:51still doesn't sit well with many today.
04:53It just seems so out of character.
04:55She would later end up going to college,
04:58but this decision ultimately skewed a disposition we once thought we knew so well.
05:02Donna, I think we were about to make a huge mistake.
05:05Yeah, I know what you mean.
05:09I had a bad feeling too.
05:10Number 15.
05:12Andrea Gets With the Governor, The Walking Dead
05:15Up until season three, Andrea Harrison's character development
05:18from frightened survivor to badass zombie killer
05:22was one of The Walking Dead's storytelling triumphs.
05:25Then the Governor thing happened.
05:26The Governor leads the town of Woodbury with an iron fist.
05:30So what's your real name?
05:32If it's not asking too many questions.
05:34If it's not asking too much.
05:41I never tell.
05:41He kidnaps Andrea, and within a few episodes,
05:44they enter a romantic relationship.
05:47From then on, she's on a course for destruction
05:49that sees her making some pretty foolish choices.
05:52She acts as a peace broker between her fellow survivors
05:56and the Governor's minions,
05:57which leads to more conflict and ultimately her death.
06:01Viewers were upset to see the character reduced to a clueless pawn
06:05when she'd grown so much.
06:07I'm not planning on dying.
06:08No, neither am I. It just happens.
06:14Other things happen.
06:16Number 14.
06:17Miranda Cheats, And Just Like That
06:20We are all Carrie when she asks Miranda
06:22how long she's been unhappy in her marriage.
06:25So much of Miranda's story has been about
06:27finding happiness with her husband.
06:29She doesn't seem to even process the gravity of her own affair.
06:33What are you doing?
06:33I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm getting clean sheets,
06:36and I'm gonna get all that stuff off of the bed.
06:38No, no, what are you doing?
06:40It's not just surprising that she'd end her marriage this way.
06:44It's really annoying.
06:45It also doesn't help that the person she cheats with,
06:48Che Diaz, is a highly controversial character,
06:51and Miranda's husband Steve is almost universally beloved.
06:54This ain't never coming off.
06:56I don't care what Miranda does, and we all do that to his part.
07:02There's something to be said for the trials of marriage.
07:05However, Miranda's affair with Che feels underthought and underbaked.
07:10Number 13.
07:11Dan's Unfaithful, Roseanne
07:14In season nine, the show's original final season,
07:17the Conner family won the lottery and ditched their humble beginnings.
07:21But the one constant was the bickering in Roseanne and Dan's marriage.
07:25That changes when Dan goes to California to take care of his sick mother,
07:29and falls in love with her nurse.
07:31You gotta believe this.
07:32I did not go looking for this.
07:34I didn't plan on this.
07:35If I had a choice, this wouldn't have happened.
07:37If you had a choice, you didn't really just say that to me, did you?
07:40Sorry, I'm sorry.
07:41Once he finally comes clean, we feel as betrayed as Roseanne does.
07:45It's a well-acted scene, but it's hard to swallow that after all the years
07:49of Dan being a dependable and loving husband and father,
07:52he does this.
07:54Maybe it's for the best to write this one off as a big fever dream.
07:57The very last thing I would have ever expected out of you, Dan.
08:05Your duty is over.
08:07You're free.
08:08Number 12.
08:09Dan is Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl
08:12Fans were left shocked when the mystery identity of the eponymous blogger
08:15was revealed in the series finale.
08:17Yes, it makes no sense given how Dan Humphrey has behaved
08:20throughout Gossip Girl's six seasons.
08:23But more than that, it makes him come across like a total sociopath.
08:27I could write myself into it.
08:30I'd overheard enough conversations to be able to mimic the language
08:33of the Constance girls, but every writer needs his muse.
08:37If he is Gossip Girl, that means Dan is responsible for some
08:40of his best friend's worst secrets being leaked.
08:43His reasoning doesn't even make sense.
08:45If he wanted to get closer to Serena,
08:47why did he spend several years trashing her in his blog?
08:51I think you're just mad because Dan was the one
08:53who was pulling the strings all along.
08:55This whole time, I had more power than you.
08:57But what he did with that power was write a love letter,
09:00not just to me, but to all of us.
09:02It's a twist, all right, but the jury's pretty much
09:04unanimous about whether it's a good one.
09:07Number 11.
09:08Rachel Quits Her Dream Role, Glee
09:11Rachel Berry clawed her way from high school outcast
09:14to Broadway sensation in record time.
09:17However, once she lands the role of Fanny Bryce,
09:20the very same one that made her idol,
09:22Barbara Streisand, famous, it's not her talent
09:25that blows it for her.
09:26It's her ego.
09:27When she decides she'd rather be on TV,
09:29she leaves the stage behind.
09:31I know I made a mistake, but I had an opportunity
09:34come my way and I just, I thought.
09:36Oh, yeah.
09:37Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, you thought.
09:40The problem for many viewers is that they wanted Rachel
09:43to finally be humbled, and each time it felt like
09:46she was finally going to learn a lesson,
09:48the show let her off the hook.
09:49By season five, everyone had had enough.
09:52We want to create a TV show around you, Rachel.
09:55We don't know what it is, but we'll figure that out.
09:59Are you serious?
10:00Yes, Rachel, I am serious.
10:02Number 10.
10:03Andy Sets Sale, The Office
10:05After entering the picture in season three,
10:07Ed Helms' buffoonish director of sales
10:09was polarizing for many viewers.
10:12His immaturity was pretty evident,
10:14even for a Dunder Mifflin employee.
10:16Just stop doing it.
10:17You're going to drive me crazy.
10:20Fine, I'll just go sit at my desk and be quiet.
10:23Sorry I annoyed you with my friendship.
10:25Over the course of the next few seasons, however,
10:27he underwent significant character growth
10:30and became a valued ensemble member.
10:32Yet in the final season, Andy alienated fans
10:36and his co-workers when he abandoned his girlfriend Erin,
10:40who already had abandonment issues,
10:42to sail the Caribbean with his brother.
10:44I am very pleased I could help Andy.
10:46Would I have gone with him if he'd asked me?
10:49On his sailboat cruise to the Caribbean?
10:51Yes, I think that would have been really fun and romantic.
10:55This reminded viewers of the callous and selfish guy
10:58he was when he was first introduced.
11:00Even a hasty attempt to win back some of his goodwill
11:02in the latter half of the season
11:04failed to rectify the damage.
11:06Let's get back to busting some paper rhymes.
11:09Come on!
11:10Who's that girl?
11:12Who's that girl?
11:15It's Andy!
11:16Number 9.
11:16Deb's feelings for Dexter.
11:18Dexter.
11:19He may be a serial killer,
11:20but Dexter Morgan has a soft spot for his adopted sister.
11:24And after six seasons,
11:25we learned just how much of a soft spot she had for him.
11:29It's your safe place.
11:30Yeah.
11:32Since we were kids.
11:33Deborah Morgan was a character
11:34who brought out the human side of Dexter,
11:36but in the sixth season,
11:38she realized she was in love with him,
11:40kicking off a bizarre turn of events
11:42in a show that was no stranger to bizarre turns of events.
11:45God, you can't keep doing this to me.
11:48I've almost lost you twice.
11:55I love you.
11:56Murder was one thing,
11:57but this was a bridge too far for many viewers.
12:00Deborah's devotion to Dexter before was adorable,
12:03if sad.
12:04Adding this unnecessary layer
12:06only made it incredibly disturbing.
12:08Thankfully, it didn't last too long.
12:10It's like I've always been looking for someone like Dexter,
12:13or someone who's the opposite of Dexter,
12:16as a way to avoid the fact that I'm in love with him.
12:18Number eight.
12:19Nate betrays Ted.
12:21Ted Lasso.
12:22Head coach Ted Lasso treated his coaching staff like family.
12:25Among them was Nate Shelley,
12:27his protege and assistant coach.
12:29However, Nate quickly grew jealous of Ted,
12:32and it all boiled over in this penultimate season two episode.
12:35Try out your fake nine.
12:36False nine.
12:37Hey, this looks very nice.
12:40Here we go again.
12:42Give Ted yet another idea he'll take all the credit for.
12:44In a shocking and heartbreaking turn,
12:47Nate betrayed Ted by leaking news of his anxiety attacks to the press.
12:51It was a rare moment of viciousness from a character we'd come to love.
12:55You sure as hell don't belong here.
12:59But I do.
13:00I belong here.
13:02This didn't just fall into my lap, right?
13:04I earned this.
13:06Nevertheless, just like all things on Ted Lasso,
13:09the fallout ultimately concluded on a gentle note.
13:12Despite the betrayal and hurt,
13:14Ted and Nate eventually reconciled.
13:16Although the incident made fans completely second-guess
13:19the show's central theme of kindness.
13:21It's okay.
13:22Please, please.
13:23Can you just let me say it?
13:26I'm sorry.
13:28Number seven.
13:29Carrie breaks up with Aiden.
13:31Sex and the city.
13:32The columnist at the center of this HBO comedy set in New York City,
13:36often left us scratching our heads.
13:38Carrie's ongoing will-they-won't-they relationship with Mr. Big
13:41made for some rich drama,
13:43but it also hindered our understanding of her character.
13:46Wow.
13:48What's wrong with you?
13:52I get it.
13:54You've never been in love.
13:56The most egregious example of her self-serving behavior
13:59came when she broke up with Aiden,
14:01whom the show made out to be a near-perfect guy.
14:04He was sweet, handsome, and attentive.
14:07Qualities that stood in contrast to Big,
14:09who could be cold and infuriating.
14:12Aiden even forgave Carrie when she cheated on him with Big.
14:15I am yours.
14:16There is nobody else.
14:19I love you, but I can't marry you to make you trust me.
14:23So when she abruptly decided to end their relationship,
14:25it didn't make any sense.
14:27Suddenly, Carrie's hopeless romanticism just seemed ridiculous.
14:31Can't believe I'm back here again.
14:33Number six.
14:34Rory drops out of Yale.
14:36Gilmore Girls.
14:37If Lorelai Gilmore wanted anything,
14:39it was to see her daughter attend an Ivy League school
14:42and not become the spoiled rich kid her parents envisioned.
14:45This is for the best.
14:47Listen, um, I've got to get back.
14:49I have a big staff meeting in a few minutes,
14:50and I want to get back and make sure everything's set up and ready.
14:53I'll see you tonight, my one and only offspring.
14:55Well, as it turns out, those two things might go hand in hand.
14:59Having grown up believing she was inherently exceptional,
15:02Rory's response to a rotten internship experience
15:04was to impulsively steal a yacht
15:06and then act indignant when forced to take accountability.
15:10Nice and seaworthy?
15:12Not ours to take.
15:14That ever stopped you before?
15:17I think I've been a bad influence on you, Ace.
15:19Her decision to drop out of Yale was the culmination of a series of bad choices
15:23driven by a bruised ego.
15:25Now, we can cut her some slack due to her young age,
15:27but as any fan would tell you,
15:29Rory lost some of her shine after this incident.
15:32You're making a mistake.
15:33No, I'm not.
15:34This is normal.
15:35College kids take breaks like this all the time.
15:37You didn't go to college, so you don't understand.
15:39No, I didn't go to college.
15:41Number 5.
15:42Fiona endangers Liam.
15:43Shameless.
15:44Shameless threw so much at Fiona Gallagher,
15:47handing her the unofficial responsibility of sole parent
15:50over her multiple siblings.
15:52I'm not asking for your pity or your admiration.
15:56I just want to be able to give these kids everything that they deserve
15:59because they're great kids.
16:00Given her circumstances, we forgave her when she occasionally went off the rails.
16:05In a show full of characters constantly going off the rails,
16:08Fiona's missteps kind of felt earned.
16:10However, in season four, her actions took a more troubling turn
16:14as she cheated on her boyfriend with his brother
16:16and ended up in possession of narcotics.
16:18He's gonna be okay, right?
16:20Her youngest brother Liam accidentally ingests the drugs
16:24she carelessly left out,
16:26resulting in his hospitalization and Fiona's arrest.
16:29Watching her grapple with overwhelming guilt was moving,
16:32but it was the natural conclusion to a series of really dumb decisions.
16:36Mr. Gallagher, please tell him that I love him, okay?
16:41And I'm so, so sorry.
16:42Please, please, Liam.
16:44Number 4.
16:45We were on a break.
16:47Friends.
16:48Hindsight is 20-20.
16:49Ross Geller was a lovable, if somewhat goofy, paleontologist
16:53who spent the whole series pining after Rachel,
16:56even when he was marrying another woman.
16:58I, Ross.
17:00I, Ross.
17:01Take thee, Emily.
17:02Take thee, Rachel.
17:08Emily.
17:09But when the two were broken up, or on a break depending on who you ask,
17:13and Ross slept with someone else,
17:15a lot of people started to see he wasn't all he was cracked up to be.
17:18Then, on top of that, he almost expects her to be grateful
17:21for his efforts to keep the affair hidden.
17:24Like I wanted him to tell you, I ran all over the place
17:26trying to make sure that didn't happen.
17:30Oh, that is so sweet.
17:34I think I'm falling in love with you all over again.
17:38Ross continuously digging his heels in over the semantics
17:41may have launched a catchphrase,
17:43but it also really made him look like a jerk.
17:45Oh, I'm sorry, were you speaking to me or sleeping with someone else?
17:48No.
17:50We were on a break.
17:52You know, Ross, why don't you just put that on your answering machine?
17:55Hey, hey, it's valid, okay?
17:56Number 3.
17:57Spike Attacks Buffy.
17:59Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
18:01Prior to this season 6 episode, Spike, the vampire, was a fan favorite.
18:05The forbidden romance between him and his slayer Buffy
18:08was fraught and teased out for most of the series.
18:11Are you hurt?
18:12You're not moving so well.
18:15Get out.
18:17We have to talk.
18:19I really don't.
18:21However, the dynamic took a darker turn in this particular episode
18:24when Spike makes aggressive advances towards Buffy,
18:28before pinning her to the floor.
18:30If their relationship wasn't doomed before among the fans,
18:33this incident seemed to seal the deal for many.
18:36What have I done?
18:37Despite the show's array of frightening monsters from hell,
18:39this was perhaps the most unsettling moment across all seven seasons.
18:43Actor James Marsters, who portrayed Spike,
18:46found the scene so difficult to shoot
18:49that he vowed to never do anything similar again.
18:52And she shall look on him with forgiveness,
18:57and everybody will forgive and love.
18:59Number 2.
19:00Alex Leaves Joe for Izzy.
19:02Grey's Anatomy.
19:03Dr. Alex Karev arrived at Seattle Grey's Hospital
19:07as a cocky and generally unlikable intern.
19:10Over the next 16 seasons,
19:12we witnessed his transformation into a caring and loving partner
19:15to Dr. Izzy Stevens.
19:17Today I become a husband.
19:20Today I become accountable to someone other than myself.
19:25Today I become accountable to you.
19:27After Katherine Heigl, the actress who portrayed Izzy,
19:30exited the show,
19:32viewers had to adjust to Karev's tumultuous romance
19:34with Dr. Joe Wilson.
19:36However, all of that progress was undone
19:38when Karev abruptly left Joe via a letter.
19:42The last thing on earth I want to do is hurt you,
19:45but I'm leaving.
19:48I already left, actually.
19:51I'm gone.
19:52Not only did he depart without a proper goodbye,
19:54but he also reunited with Izzy,
19:56who had left him years before
19:58and had been raising his secret children the whole time.
20:01Even fans of Karev and Izzy's relationship
20:03thought it was an unfortunate mishandling
20:05of a key character's exit.
20:07And I'm applying to the hospital nearby.
20:12I wanted to be mad at Izzy for keeping them from me,
20:14but I can't because all I am is grateful she made them.

20:35Daenerys Destroys King's Landing
20:37Game of Thrones
20:38Witnessing the conclusion of HBO's epic fantasy series
20:42was bittersweet for us all.
20:43Jaime Lannister's character development was all but undone
20:46by his decision to die with his sister, Cersei.

20:54Nothing else matters.

20:57Daenerys Targaryen, on the other hand,
20:59always bore a bit of her family's darkness.
21:02Instead of taking us on that ride with her

21:07the show chose to fast-track her descent
21:09into a snarling madwoman.

21:19as she ordered her army and her dragons
21:21to ravage the city of King's Landing.
21:23We were always destined to fall out of love with Daenerys,
21:27but the rushed final season made it impossible
21:29to really process that loss.
