00:43and backstabbed his way through every challenge.
00:46And it seemed to be working out for him.
00:48At least until he double-crossed Player 212.
01:00After being essentially left for dead in the prior challenge,
01:03she decided that if she's going down, she's bringing Deok-su with her.
01:17Even if she has to go through a glass pane to do it.
01:20Deok-su's end is less a fall from grace and more of a karmic plummet.
01:25But quite frankly, we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

01:30Janice.
01:30Mr. Robot.
01:41Manipulation.
01:43Murder.
01:43Manipulating others to murder.
01:45Janice ran the gamut as far as despicable villains are concerned.
01:49But from a dark army handler, what else would you expect?
01:53Poor Dom got the brunt of it,
01:55facing several horrible threats on the lives of her loved ones.
01:58Little did Janice know, Dom's a gambler.
02:02When betting on her life, Darlene's, and lifelong servitude to the dark army,

02:25if only for the image of the Handler finally becoming the Handled.

02:32Midnight Mass.
02:37You're going to need a lot more than thoughts and prayers to get through a sermon with Bev Keen.
02:42The sinful zealot used her position in the church to cover up all sorts of nasty happenings,
02:47including actual bloodsuckers.
02:50This verse in the bible just kind of stuck with me.
02:54He makes the sun rise in the evil and the good.
02:58So it's only fitting that she burns away in the sunlight,
03:01while literally digging her own grave.
03:03Although from a Mike Flanagan series, we shouldn't even be surprised.
03:07This is the same guy who showed that torturing your faithful wife
03:10causes you to lose a part of yourself.
03:13In Frederick Usher's case, that's no hyperbole.
03:16Flanagan knows how to give a villain their comeuppance, that's for sure.

03:30I learned about suffering.
03:34Not mine, mind you, but the general conceit.
03:39If you value your life, you should never get on a cannibal's bad side.
03:43Then again, something tells us no one shed any tears at Mason Verger's funeral.
03:48Putting aside the fact that he raises man-eating pigs,
03:51Mason's continued harassment of his sister is simply unforgivable.
03:55Luckily, that's where Hannibal Lecter came in.
03:57He's your patient, doctor.
04:01You do what you think is best for him.
04:04One quick spine snap later,
04:06Mason's left bedridden in the care of the same sister he once tormented.

04:51As you can imagine, Octavia didn't appreciate losing her beloved,
04:55and she said as much with the pointy side of her blade.
04:58Ever the pragmatist though,
04:59Octavia used Pike as an extra set of hands during an attempted AI takeover.

05:24Blue Hawk.
05:25The Boys.
05:25Superheroes often have to make like split-second decisions when fighting crime,
05:30and I apologize if any of mine have been perceived as being racist.
05:38While apologizing to residents of a Black community,
05:41Blue Hawk lost his cool and started lashing out at everyone.
05:44A-Train is able to stop the rageful soup from taking a life.
05:48Unfortunately, the speedy hero's brother is so severely injured
05:52that he loses his ability to walk.
05:54Unable to contain his anger,
05:56A-Train finds Blue Hawk and takes him on a little jog to get revenge.
06:00You hurt a lot of people.
06:02You hurt my brother.
06:04They're gonna get away with it.
06:05Not this time.
06:06While we can't show what happens,
06:08trust us when we say there isn't much of the racist soup left.
06:12The loathed Madeline was also brutally murdered by a soup in an instant.
06:16However, A-Train's kill is more memorable
06:19because he once got away with a similar crime.
06:21The speedy hero is ultimately forced to live with the reality
06:24of the danger of irresponsible soups.
06:26Which is why you're gonna love this.
06:28Blue Hawk will live on because we gave you his heart.
06:33Number 24, Gregory, The Walking Dead.
06:36I built this place.
06:38None of this would exist if it wasn't for me.
06:41You're just Rick's lackey.
06:43Walkers have nothing on this guy.
06:45Despite being introduced as the leader of the hilltop community,
06:49Gregory's only relevant life skills are groveling,
06:52betrayal, and more groveling.
06:54He's a spineless snake who would sooner sell out everyone he meets.

07:02than inconvenience himself.
07:04Just ask Negan or the hilltop community
07:07or really anyone who's ever had the displeasure of working with him.
07:10When Gregory's lack of loyalty finally catches up with him,

07:19and he blew every single one of them.
07:21Given that trust is the only currency in The Walking Dead,
07:24Gregory's execution was long overdue.

07:32Number 23, Lester Nygaard, Fargo.
07:36I think I, uh, she's in the basement, Dad.
07:40And, uh, look, I'm freaking out here.
07:42I don't know what to do.
07:43He may be the protagonist, but don't get it wrong.
07:46Lester Nygaard is no hero.
07:48Sure, we all have bad days,
07:50but murdering your wife and framing your brother
07:52is more than your average mood swing.
07:54On the bright side, Lester does face justice for his crimes,
07:58just not in the court of law.
08:00After becoming a pathetic crybaby and running from authorities,
08:03Lester tries cutting across a frozen lake.
08:06Stop!
08:08It's not safe!
08:13Let's just say that a few cracks later,
08:15he goes for his last swim ever.
08:18It's so abrupt, it's almost funny.
08:20Rest assured, Fargo's version of a life sentence
08:22is just as vindicating as the real thing.
08:25Number 22, Martin Kimi, Lost.
08:28Do you see me?
08:31Yeah, I see you.
08:34All right, Mr. Linus, these are my terms.
08:36You're gonna step out the front door,
08:37put your hands above your head,
08:38and you're gonna walk straight to me.
08:41Once I have you in my custody,
08:43then I promise you that no one else in that house will be harmed.
08:46Fighting over a mystical island is dirty work,
08:48but no matter how intense things got,
08:50Ben Linus and his rival, Charles Widmore,
08:53always kept their families out of it.
08:55Hired mercenary Martin Kimi, however,
08:57had a different moral compass.
08:59He's a heartless, irredeemable villain
09:01who has no qualms shooting Alex Linus

09:25and shooting a defenseless girl,
09:27Kimi's demise elicits more applause than anything else.
09:30Number 21, Gemma Teller-Morrow,
09:33Sons of Anarchy.
09:34You gotta decide what you want, sweetheart.
09:38You hear me?
09:40Vulnerability is a liability.
09:43Protecting the Sons Motorcycle Club
09:45means making tough calls.
09:47Calls like going full mob boss
09:49and killing your daughter-in-law
09:51for being a suspected turncoat.
09:52While Gemma was never a very good person to begin with,
09:56Tara's murder marked the real point of no return for her.
09:59And Sons of Anarchy didn't forget it.
10:02In one of the series' greatest scenes,
10:04Gemma's own son, Jax, avenges his wife
10:07and ends his mother's blood-soaked reign
10:09in one pull of the trigger.
10:11My baby boy.
10:16It's time.
10:17It's a bit tragic, a lot gratifying,
10:20and sold by the idea that Sons of Anarchy
10:23couldn't have ended any other way.
10:25Rest in peace, Gemma.
10:26Number 20, Steve Newlin, True Blood.
10:30Newlin begins the series as a talented orator
10:33and televangelist who openly speaks
10:35against the rights of vampires.
10:37You vampires cast the first stone by killing my family.
10:41The lines have been drawn.
10:42You're either with us or against us.
10:45He's a hateful bigot, a fraud,
10:47and the leader of the Soldiers of the Sun,
10:49an elite paramilitary group of vampire hunters.
10:52He eventually becomes a vampire himself
10:55and becomes a subject of study for the vampire police.
10:58In retaliation for some major deaths,
11:00Eric prevents Steve from drinking some life-saving blood,
11:04and he burns to death under direct sunlight
11:06while proclaiming his love for Jason.
11:09Few things are as narratively satisfying
11:11as watching the downfall of a bigot.
11:14I love you, Jason Snackhouse!
11:21Number 19, Dr. Oliver Threadson,
11:23American Horror Story, Asylum.
11:26Often regarded as one of the best seasons
11:28of American Horror Story,
11:29Asylum contains a terrific villain
11:31in Zachary Quinto's Oliver Threadson.
11:34I think I made a wrong turn.
11:36I see you found my little hobby.
11:39Threadson is a professional psychiatrist
11:41who declares Kit Walker insane
11:43to frame him as Bloody Face.
11:45Threadson is the real Bloody Face,
11:47who skins his female victims
11:49and makes furniture out of their remains.
11:52He also torments Lana,
11:53resulting in her unwanted son, Johnny Morgan.
11:56Morgan himself takes his father's mantle
11:59as the second Bloody Face in 2012.
12:01Like his father,
12:02Morgan meets a satisfying and violent fate
12:05with Lana shooting him in the head.
12:07Rewarding revenge also had something to do with it.
12:10I have no use for you anymore.
12:13Best you should just be known as my last victim.
12:17Number 18, Ritchie April, The Sopranos.
12:20Nobody really likes Janice Soprano,
12:22but she did everyone a major favor
12:25by whacking Ritchie April.
12:26The Sopranos is filled with detestable people
12:29and hateful villains,
12:30and Ritchie April is certainly one of them.
12:37Belligerent from the start,
12:39Ritchie never listens to orders
12:40and directly goes against Tony at every turn.
12:43He's also incredibly vicious and violent,
12:45even by Sopranos' standards,
12:48not to mention homophobic towards his own son.
12:51In fact, it's his hateful traits
12:52that result in his surprising death,
12:54as a ticked off and recently punched Janice
12:57whacks him during dinner.
12:59It wasn't the death we were expecting,
13:01but it was wonderfully satisfying nonetheless.
13:04Number 17, Jonathan Blackjack Randall, Outlander.
13:08This historical drama is based on a series of novels
13:11by Diana Gabaldon.
13:13She describes her creation of Blackjack Randall
13:16as a, quote,
13:17sadistic bisexual pervert,
13:19and that's really all you need to know.
13:29Played to perfection by Tobias Menzies,
13:32Randall has the appearance of a noble British officer,
13:35but he's actually a remorseless man
13:37with sadistic tendencies.
13:39In fact, he seeks sexual gratification
13:41by inflicting both physical and spiritual pain
13:44on his victims,
13:45breaking them down both mentally and physically.
13:48Jamie finally got his revenge in the season three premiere
13:50by stabbing Randall in the gut.
13:52He dies holding the man he long tormented,
13:55and we were glad to finally see him go.
14:03Number 16, Principal Snyder, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
14:07Congratulations to the class of 1999.
14:10You all proved more or less adequate.
14:12The principal of Sunnydale High School,
14:14Snyder often covered up the supernatural goings-on
14:17through flimsy excuses and an authoritarian regime.
14:21Snyder hates teenagers,
14:23despite being a high school principal,
14:25and holds the reputation of his high school
14:27in greater regard than the health
14:28and safety of his students.
14:30Put simply, this was everyone's hated principal
14:33elevated to a near satiric degree.
14:35It was intensely satisfying then
14:37to watch him get eaten alive by the Ascended Mayor.
14:40It was hilarious, ridiculous, and even a little shocking,
14:43a combination in which Buffy often excelled.
14:57Number 15, Ian Reid, Luthor.
15:00Serving as the primary antagonist of the first season,
15:03Ian Reid is a fellow police officer
15:05and a close friend of Luthor's.
15:07However, his mental state collapses
15:09following an orchestrated robbery
15:11that resulted in numerous deaths.
15:13He turns viciously cold-blooded and paranoid,
15:16even offing Bill and Sugarman to keep his secret.
15:19Reid lost all semblance of sympathy
15:21after taking out Luthor's wife, Zoe,
15:23and framing him for the death.
15:25In the end, Reid allows himself to die
15:27at the hands of Alice Morgan,
15:29deciding that death was a better outcome than prison.
15:32He died on his terms,
15:33which was certainly a bit frustrating,
15:35but it was still nice
15:36getting him out of the picture for good.
15:42Number 14, Killgrave, Jessica Jones.
15:46Despite being a Marvel property,
15:47Jessica Jones is a down-to-earth
15:49and dramatic glimpse into trauma and PTSD.
15:52These themes are mostly traced to antagonist Killgrave,
15:56real name Kevin Thompson.
15:57Thompson received mind-controlling powers
16:00after being subjected to experiments,
16:02and he kept Jessica Jones as his prisoner.
16:05You call making me murder a woman ending roughly?
16:09No, no, let's be clear.
16:10I did not tell you to kill Reva.
16:12What?
16:12If you remember, I said take care of her,
16:14not kill her.
16:15You chose to punch her.
16:16This horrific experience left Jones a broken woman,
16:19and breaking from superhero tradition,
16:21she kills Killgrave in cold blood by snapping his neck.
16:25It was narratively and personally fulfilling,
16:28but it too left a permanent mental stain on Jones,
16:31who began to grapple with her murderous intentions.
16:33This type of narrative complexity
16:35helped make Jessica Jones both a challenging
16:38and rewarding experience.
16:39Smile.
16:43Number 13.
16:44Yvonne V. Parker.
16:46Orange is the New Black.
16:48Taking place inside a prison,
16:49Orange is the New Black contains its fair share
16:52of hateable villains, but none were as bad as V.
16:55Serving as the main antagonist of the second season,
16:58V is a manipulative sociopath
17:00who easily controls others.
17:02She gets into a war with Red
17:04over the prison's smuggling operation,
17:06and starts a cult-like family,
17:07turning Tasty against Poussey,
17:10and manipulating Suzanne into doing her violent bidding.
17:13I'm telling you, do not let her drag you into that shit.
17:18She is not your real friend.
17:20Like all the greatest villains,
17:21V is smart and hard to beat,
17:23but her empire eventually crumbles,
17:25and after escaping from the prison,
17:27she's run over by a fleeing Rosa
17:29in one of the show's most darkly hilarious sequences.
17:32She finally got her comeuppance,
17:33and it was glorious.
17:37Number 12.
17:38Arthur Mitchell.
17:39Dexter.
17:40The fourth season of Dexter is often heralded
17:42as its greatest,
17:44and John Lithgow's Arthur Mitchell,
17:46also known as the Trinity Killer,
17:48is its most famous antagonist.
17:50Part of that reputation is owing
17:51to Lithgow's incredible performance,
17:54as he masterfully balances everyday normality,
17:57remorse, and unhinged psychopathy.
17:59Mom, Becca, me!
18:00You're killing us!
18:05And part of it is undoubtedly due
18:07to Rita Morgan's death,
18:08which is arguably Dexter's most famous
18:10and shocking moment.
18:12In total, Trinity is attributed
18:14to a staggering 279 deaths.
18:17In the end, Trinity is bludgeoned with a hammer,
18:19and television fulfillingly disposed
18:21one of its most depraved characters.
18:24Now it's over.
18:25Number 11.
18:26Rosalind Shays.
18:28L.A. Law.
18:29An enormous hit throughout the late 80s
18:31and early 90s,
18:32L.A. Law was a legal drama
18:34that explored many important
18:35hot-button issues of the time.
18:37If you believe,
18:39like our founding fathers,
18:42that government is the responsibility
18:44of the governed,
18:45and that includes paying for it,
18:48then you'll find Upton Weeks guilty.
18:50It's both a thrilling drama
18:52in its own right,
18:53and a glorious glimpse
18:54into late 80s America.
18:56The show's main antagonist
18:57was Rosalind Shays,
18:59a money-hungry, controlling,
19:01and merciless woman
19:02whom audiences loved to hate.
19:04And her death, while satisfying,
19:06was also unquestionably random.
19:09After speaking with Leland,
19:10Rosalind turns to enter the elevator,
19:12only the elevator isn't there,
19:14and Rosalind plummets to her death.
19:16It was wonderful getting the icy Rosalind
19:19out of the picture,
19:20but the show soon becomes a reality.
19:22The show soon veered into ridiculous
19:24soap opera territory,
19:25and never quite recovered.
19:26I really didn't want to talk about it.

19:34Number 10
19:35Dr. Robert Romano
19:37ER
19:38Arguably the most famous medical procedural
19:40in television history,
19:41ER ran for 15 seasons
19:43and 331 episodes
19:45between 1994 and 2009.
19:48For seven of those seasons,
19:49Paul McCrane starred
19:51as everyone's favorite grump,
19:52Robert Romano.
19:53I'm sorry, I just assumed as a prosthetist
19:56that you would have some rudimentary
19:57knowledge of medicine.
19:59I have a degree in bioengineering.
20:01Oh, okay.
20:01Well, then you have a vague civilian concept
20:03of what doctors do.
20:04See, I'm what's called a surgeon.
20:05That's why I was very specific
20:06about needing a Utah arm.
20:08Eventually serving as the chief of staff,
20:10Romano is the ultimate boss from hell,
20:12known for his unkind comments
20:14and relentless sarcasm.
20:16Romano loses his arm in a helicopter accident
20:18in the ninth season premiere,
20:20a moment that skirts the line
20:21between shocking and soap opera silliness.
20:24And right before he can lodge a complaint
20:26against Greg,
20:26Romano dies by a falling helicopter.
20:29No, seriously, that's how he goes out.
20:31It's totally random and completely bizarre,
20:34but also undeniably enjoyable.
20:39Number nine,
20:40Todd Alquist, Breaking Bad.
20:42Just so you know, this isn't personal.
20:46For a good chunk of Breaking Bad's run,
20:49the antagonist role is filled by Gus Fring,
20:51the methamphetamine magnate
20:53who's blown up in a nursing home.
20:57Gus was a beloved character,
20:59but there's no denying
21:00the satisfaction of that death,
21:02especially the famous face
21:03or lack thereof reveal.
21:05On the other hand,
21:06Todd is a malicious villain
21:07who inflicts suffering on Jesse,
21:09fraternizes with white supremacists,
21:11and worse.
21:15Unlike Gus,
21:15viewers desperately wanted to see him go.
21:18So it was a welcome surprise
21:19when Jesse strangled Todd
21:21with his own handcuffs.
21:22There's a certain poetic beauty
21:24to Jesse taking out Todd
21:25with the very symbol of his torment
21:27and enslavement.
21:36Number eight,
21:36Ralph Cifaretto, The Sopranos.
21:39As horrible as Richie April was,
21:41he has nothing on Ralph Cifaretto.
21:44Played by the legendary character actor
21:46Joe Pantoliano,
21:47Ralph was a psychopath from the start.
21:59Like Richie,
22:00he was openly belligerent
22:01and often made a public point
22:02of antagonizing Tony.
22:04But his worst moment came in season three
22:06when he viciously beat Tracy to death
22:08outside the Bing.
22:09It's often regarded as one of the darkest
22:11moments on The Sopranos,
22:13and it permanently altered
22:14how audiences viewed Ralph.
22:16His surprising death in season four
22:18was a long time coming,
22:19and just as Ralph did to Tracy,

24:39You dare!
24:41You give command to me.
24:43To me?
24:46You do not command the dragon.
24:48I am Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.
24:49Hoping to reclaim Westeros
24:51for the Targaryen name,
24:52Viserys orchestrated an army
24:54consisting of Khal Drogo
24:55and his Dothraki.
24:57Viserys was horrible towards Daenerys,
24:59even offering her body to Khal Drogo
25:01in exchange for his army.
25:03But Viserys's ego proves too great,
25:05and he drunkenly accosts Drogo.

26:11her flawed attempts to turn Opie against the club.
26:14But Opie gets his revenge in one of television's most gratifying sequences, directly referencing
26:19Donna's death right before shooting Stahl in the back of the head.
26:23Finally, after three seasons and lots of complex conniving, Agent Stahl was finished.

26:33Philip Blake, The Walking Dead
26:35Take off your shirt, or I'll bring Glenn's hand in here.
26:40This zombie show has long made the argument that humans are more dangerous than the undead,
26:44and that theme is perfectly personified through the Governor, also known as Philip Blake.
26:49The Governor earned his nickname by leading the fortified town of Woodbury.
26:53But don't let that noble distinction fool you.
26:56The Governor is an unhinged psycho who commits horrific acts of violence.
27:01Even the utopic nature of Woodbury is flawed, and it contains a brutal underbelly overseen
27:05by the authoritarian Governor.
27:08While invading the prison, the Governor is stabbed in the back by Michonne, and millions
27:12the world over cheered as he lay dying.
27:15He is finally put down by Lily, and The Walking Dead was rid of one of its most hateable
27:19villains.

27:25Red John, The Mentalist
27:27Tiger, tiger, burning bright, in the forests of the night, what immortal hand or eye could
27:36frame thy fearful symmetry?
27:39The Mentalist concerns a fraudulent psychic medium who helps the California Bureau of
27:43Investigation solve murders.
27:46Red Mentalist is named Patrick Jane, and his wife and daughter died at the hands of
27:50Red John.
27:51Red John is believed to have taken upwards of 70 lives throughout the southwestern United
27:56States and Mexico, and Jane's pursuit of the elusive Red John provides tantalizing
28:01mystery for the first five seasons of the show.
28:04Audiences and Jane eventually learn that Red John is Napa County Sheriff Thomas McAllister,
28:09and he's strangled to death by Jane in retaliation for the deaths of his family.
28:29We don't know who was more relieved, the audience or Jane.

29:08pain, suffering, and psychological torment.
29:16For three seasons, audiences couldn't stand the sight of Joffrey, and he was widely heralded
29:21as television's biggest baddie.
29:24That is, until he drank a cup of poison in season four and died gasping in his mother's
29:28arms.
29:29The death is horrific and grotesque, but watching Joffrey finally squirm in pain and panic offered
29:35a certain kind of satisfaction.
29:40Sorry Cersei, but everyone agreed that your son had to go.
