00:00Politicians or elected officials still in office, beware of dipping your hands into petty cash or funds of your local government office to help bankroll your campaign for the position or office you seek in next year's midterm polls.
00:14The Comlick has this stern reminder, careful what you spend that is not from your pocket.
00:20If you use government money in your campaign, your candidacy will be invalidated as we hear more from our Luisa Erispe.
00:30The Commission on Elections has a reminder for aspiring candidates for the 2025 national and local elections to police or inhibit themselves from using state funds for their campaigns.
00:42The Comlick issued this statement after several aspirants started campaigning even before the official start of the election period.
00:50It is wrong to abuse and use state resources. That is what we want to stop in the future, the misuse of state resources.
01:00The Comlick will not hesitate to disqualify candidates like the ones we showed because of misuse of state resources.
01:09The Comlick also said it will not hesitate to disqualify any candidates seen utilizing government funds for their campaign,
01:16especially in times of disasters such as the Typhoon Christine laying waste to some parts of the country.
01:22If there are programs they wish to continue during the election period, the Comlick will accept requests for exemption from the ban the Commission declares on government programs.
01:33This is an exemption from the Commission's law department based on our guidelines.
01:44But it is still too early because we will still issue new guidelines on social services approval.
01:50We will still issue those in November and we will start accepting applications in January.
01:56Meanwhile, the Comlick said even their offices, especially in Bicol region, have been affected by Typhoon.
02:02As of now, they have requested the DPWH for the safekeeping of their documents.
02:07We asked the DPWH and the PNP for help in securing our equipment in every office of the Comlick in different municipalities where the Comlick's office is located.
02:22Those equipment are very important to us, especially the applications for registration of voters.
02:28Another thing the Comlick vowed to follow through is the temporary restraining order released by the Supreme Court on their resolution to disqualify candidates with a perpetual disqualification ruling from the office of the Ombudsman.
02:40The Comlick said with the lifting of the resolution, there will be more than a hundred aspirants added to their list of final candidates for the upcoming elections.
02:49We will not remove all candidates with a perpetual disqualification from the office of the Ombudsman until the Supreme Court's decision is final and the temporary restraining order is lifted.
