00:48Public Relations Unit of the Police Command stated.
00:52The command had reported that a tragic and devastating incident occurred on October 15,
00:582024, at about 2230 hours, involving a petroleum tanker with registration number KMC6412F driven
01:08by one Yousuf Maud, male, aged 32 years of hotel quarters, Kano State.
01:15The tanker was traveling from Kano to Nguru, Yobe State, when the driver lost control near
01:21Khadija University in Magia Town, Toronoko government area, causing it to overturn and
01:27spill fuel.
01:29The petrol entered through the drainage to the outskirts of the village.
01:34Unfortunately, villagers attempted to scoop petrol from the drainage, resulting in a flame
01:40that engulfed the area and many people were reportedly perished.
01:44Area Commander Rengim, Divisional Police Officer Gujungu and their men swiftly rushed
01:50to the scene.
01:51One hundred and five, one oh five, corpses have been evacuated, while 50 injured persons
01:58were rushed to Rengim and Hadejian General Hospitals for medical attention.
02:03The fire was successfully extinguished through the combined efforts of police officers, firefighters,
02:10and good Samaritans.
02:12The Commissioner of Police for Jigawa State, CPAT Abdullahi, has expressed his condolences
02:18to the people of Magia Town and the state as a whole, and he prays that the departed
02:24souls rest in perfect peace.
02:26Additionally, he prayed to the Almighty Allah to prevent such an incident from happening
02:32in the near future.
02:34The CP therefore, cautions the well-meaning citizens of the state to stay away from the
02:39area where gas tankers have fallen due to the potential hazards related to petroleum
02:44products.

02:52Meanwhile, mourners on Wednesday gathered to bury the victims who died after a fuel
02:57tanker exploded in northern Nigeria's Jigawa State.

03:06Assembly in a statement said, Yesterday, I visited Magia Town in Jigawa State to extend
03:13my condolences to over 100 families who tragically lost loved ones in the tanker explosion in

03:21This heartbreaking incident has left an indelible mark on the community, and my thoughts and
03:27prayers are with the grieving families during this difficult time.
03:31Along with my condolences, I have contributed 10 million Naira to assist the surviving victims
03:37who are currently receiving treatment in hospitals across the state.
03:42I also visited the Jigawa State Government House to extend my condolences to the Governor
03:47of Jigawa State, His Excellency Uma Namadi Anmoy.
03:52We discussed the ongoing efforts to provide relief and assistance to the affected families
03:57and survivors.
03:59In the face of this tragedy, we stand united.
04:03I will continue to collaborate with the relevant authorities to ensure that those affected
04:08receive the necessary support.

04:42The incident has led to severe casualties, and despite being overwhelmed, our doctors
04:48in General Hospitals Ringim, Hadeja, Rashid Sheikhouni Federal University Teaching Hospital
04:55Dutsi, Federal Medical Centers Maninkudu and Uguru, Aminu Kando Teaching Hospital, AKTH
05:01and the Orthopedics Hospital Lala have stepped up in this time of crisis to provide critical
05:06care to the victims.
05:08We salute the courage, resilience, and commitment of all the medical professionals on the front

05:59The Inspector General of Police, INJP Kayode Adeolu Egmetokun has, on behalf of the Nigeria
06:05Police Force, commiserates with the government and good people of Jigawa State, most especially
06:11the families of victims of the Tanka explosion which occurred at about 11.30pm on October
06:1715, 2024, in Majia, Tora local government area of Jigawa State claiming several lives
06:23and leaving many injured.
06:25The Carlitis incident reportedly claimed the lives of over 100 people, while over 70 persons
06:32were seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals in the state.
06:38Also, the IJP commends the efforts of the police personnel and other emergency responders
06:44for their swift action in extinguishing the fire, evacuating the victims, and ensuring
06:50normalcy is swiftly restored in the area.
06:53The IJP, while praying for the souls of the departed ones, reassures the general public
07:00of robust sensitization programs on the hazardous effects of oil scooping and other similar
07:05activities.
07:07He equally urges motorists and road users to always exercise caution and adhere to let
07:12down safety guidelines in their daily conduct, the force public relations officer, Olumuwa
07:18Adejobi said in a statement on Thursday.
07:21Kano State Governor Aba Kabi Yusuf visited Jigawa State and donated N100 million to help
07:28the victims of the incident.
07:30In a statement issued on Thursday, he said, alongside the Deputy Governor, His Excellency
07:37Aminu Abdusalam, I led a high-powered delegation from the Kano State government to condone
07:43with the government and people of Jigawa State over the recent fire disaster in Majia, Tora
07:48local government area.
07:51While extending our sympathies to Governor Uma Namadi Danwadi at the government house
07:55in Dunse on Thursday, I also announced a donation of N100 million from the Kano State government
08:02to the victims of the incident.
08:04The donation is meant to provide relief to the families of those who lost their lives
08:09and to support the treatment of those injured in the fire.
08:13We once again extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offer strength
08:18to those recovering from injuries.
