00:00Men of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested a 26-year-old boy who allegedly set his mother
00:06ablaze at Mwazu village in Sunetankaka local government area of Jigawa State.
00:12The Jigawa State Police Command in a news release said, the Commissioner of Police has
00:18directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID to investigate the crime
00:24he described as unfortunate incident.
00:27On the 8th of October 2024 at about 1600 hours, the command was notified of a sad and regrettable
00:35incident that occurred in Mwazu village, Dangwanki ward, Sunetankaka local government area.
00:42That one Nura Masiot, male, aged 26 years of Mwazu village, Sunetankaka local government
00:49area, went to his family house with a petrol canister and suddenly poured it on his grandmother,
00:56Zuaira Muhammad, female, aged 60 years of the same address, and set her ablaze.
01:03The elderly woman eventually passed away while being admitted as a result of the conflagration.
01:09The medical doctor on call certified her death and the corpse was released to relatives for
01:14burial according to Islamic rites.
01:17A team of police detectives from Sunetankaka division quickly arrested the suspect and
01:22detained him in the cell.
01:25He was later ferried to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for a discrete
01:31investigation.
01:32During the interrogation, the suspect admitted to committing the alleged offense against
01:38him.
01:39A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect suffers from mental illness and
01:44has been receiving treatment at Kazare Psychiatric Hospital.
01:48The suspect's father stated that the late grandmother upset him by expressing concern
01:54about his physical appearance and health, which he did not want.
01:59He warned her on several occasions, but she refused.
02:02Thus, he purchased gasoline, poured and ignited her.
02:07The Jagawa State Commissioner of Police, CPAT Abdulahi PSC, Director, the State Criminal
02:14Investigation Department, DUTSE, to thoroughly investigate the case and vigorously prosecute
02:20the perpetrator in order to deter others from repeating it, DSP Lawanshi Aizu Adam,

02:31Meanwhile, in another news release, the police command stated that, following discrete and
02:38actionable intelligence, operatives from the State Intelligence Department, SID, DUTSE
02:44arrested notorious armed robbery suspect terrorizing DUTSE and ringing Emirates.
02:48The suspect, identified as Buhari Young, male, of Dosei Fulani Settlement Camp, Ringim Local
03:01Government Area, was apprehended following an armed robbery that claimed the life of
03:06a 40-year-old Motala Ja'afa at Kwanashafa along Ringim-Dutse Road, Ringim Local Government
03:12Area on the 8th of June 2024, and the recovery of one fabricated pistol in his residential
03:19house when searched by a team of policemen from Ringim Division on the 12th of June 2024.
03:26During an interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID-DUTSE, the
03:32suspect admitted to participating in armed robberies along Ja'on-Gujungu, Dindibis-Gamboji,
03:40and Shorin-Underskokiawa Roads with four of his gang members.
03:45He also mentioned one Al-Hassan Idris, aka Al-Hajijau, male, aged 40 years of GIA Village,
03:53Ajuti Local Government Area, Kano State, who disposed of him the two fabricated firearms
04:01at the rate of 450,000 naira.
04:07The aforementioned Al-Hajijau was also arrested by detectives from SCID-DUTSE.
04:14The duo are in police custody and have been given useful information.
04:19On the 16th of September 2024, at about 18.00 hours, one Idris Musa, male, aged 43 years
04:28of Galambi Quarters, Guaram Local Government Area, reported to Guaram Divisional Police
04:34Headquarters that, on the same date, at about 3.00 hours, when his wife awoke to ease herself,
04:41she saw two, two armed men in their house with knives.
04:46The hoodlums ordered her to bring them the sacks of sesame brought by her husband or
04:51they would stab her with the knife.
04:53She showed them where it was stored and then cut it away with the sesame.
04:58Similarly, the same perpetrators trespassed into the house of one Gambo Sel, male, 42
05:05years of Galambi Quarters, stole his TECNO mobile phone and an unspecified amount of
05:11money and then fled to an unknown location.
05:15Upon receipt of the report, the patrol team was directed to the scene in order to apprehend
05:20the suspects.
05:22The violent team combed the affected area and apprehended the suspects with the aforementioned
05:27sesame and knives, which were used as evidence.
05:31The suspects were identified as Abdurrahman Kawu, male, age 19 years, and Idris Sel, male,
05:39age 18 years, all of Galambi Quarters in Guaram Local Government Area.
05:45When interrogated, the suspects admitted to committing the offence.
05:50Between 17th to 26th Nd September, 2024, the Command's anti-cattle rustling in collaboration
05:57with the policemen from Malam Madori, Vanua, Dutse and Bambura Division as well as Vigilante
06:04Group and Local Hunters, burst the syndicate of a notorious cattle rustlers in Hadidja,
06:09Dutse, and ringing anger rates particularly in Malam Madori, Vanua, Dutse and Bambura
06:15Local Government Areas.
06:18During the operation, 13, 13 suspected cattle rustlers were arrested along with 7, 7 cows
06:25and one golf wagon green in colour with range number RSH 510HZABJ.
06:32The suspects were identified as follows, Musa Ibrahim, M, age 30 years of Hadidja Town,
06:40Awal Mohamed, M, age 40 years of Kachakama Village, Ado Issa, M, age 30 years of Tugus
06:49Village, Maman Rewanu, Fia underscore Fia, M, age 35 years of Tako Village, Amubaka Alhaji
06:58Uma, M, age 37 years of Kago Village, Sune Basso Elias Saki, M, of Injeri Fulani Settlement,
07:08Dawsel, M, of Sumo Village, Amubaka Dahiru, M, of Kankare Madubi Village, Usman Abdullahi,
07:17M, of Sumo Village, Sani Inusa, M, age 27 years of Yawa Fulani Settlement, Sadiq Amini,
07:27M, age 20 years of Barbari Quarters, Yawani, M, age 26 years of Dakachau Village, Kano
07:36State, Ibrahim Alhamdu, M, age 30 years of Bagauda Village, Kano State.
07:43On interrogation at the Divisional Police Headquarters, the suspects confessed to the
07:48commission of the offence allegedly against them.
07:52On 17 September 2004 at about 1530 hours, detectives from Malang Madori Division apprehended
08:00Savio Alhassan, M, 27 years of Marjorin Kaba Village, Malang Madori Local Government Area,
08:08at Kor Village, Gaki Local Government Area, in possession of one boxer motorcycle which
08:14was strongly suspected of being possessed under false pretenses.
08:18Prior to his arrest, on 9 September 2024 at about 11 o'clock hours, one Mohamed Nassi,
08:27M, age 20 years of Kampala Quarters, Malang Madori Local Government Area reported at the
08:33division that the above-mentioned suspect deceived him and collected his boxer motorcycle
08:38red in colour, valued at 300,000 naira, 300,000 nairas, and fled away with it.
08:45During his interrogation at the Divisional Crime Branch, the suspect confessed to the
08:50crime.
08:52On 18 September 2024 at about 2300 hours, one Man Musa Belu, M, age 45 years of Gidanruwa
09:01Quarters, Kazaure Local Government Area reported at the Kazaure Division that on the same date
09:07at about 2230 hours, unknown criminal elements stole his life and motorcycle, black in colour.
09:14When the report was received, policemen on patrol were informed with a view to intercept
09:19the motorcycle and apprehend the perpetrators.
09:23When the team invaded the area, they were fortunate to intercept one Sani Jafa, M, age
09:3045 years and one Ruhu Abdullahi, M, age 30 years-old of Gidanruwa, who were attempting
09:37to flee with the stolen motorcycle.
09:40During interrogation at the division, the duo admitted to committing the offence.
09:46On 23 September 2024 at about 1700 hours, credible information at the command's disposal
09:54revealed that a suspected first was sighted in a new park along Shuaren Road in Dunsey
09:58Metropolis attempting to load four heavy solar inverter batteries into a commercial vehicle
10:04bound for Kandu State.
10:06Following receipt of the report, a team of policemen from Dunsey Divisional Police Headquarters
10:12dashed to the motor park.
10:14When the team arrived, one Sani Idris, M, age 28 years of Fatera Housing Estate was
10:21arrested, along with the four batteries he was carrying.
10:26The suspect and exhibits were taken to the division for further investigation.
10:31On interrogation, the suspect confessed to having stolen the said solar batteries at
10:37Fatera Housing Estate, Dunsey local government area.
10:41On 23 September 2024 at about 1130 hours, a case of robbery and motorcycle snatching
10:49was reported at Gwiwa Division.
10:51That on 28 September 2024 at about 1945 hours, a cyclist, one Motela Usman, M, age 27 years
11:01of Dunia Village, Gwiwa local government area carried two passengers from Dodsey Market
11:06Katsina State to Badu Village, Gwiwa local government area.
11:11On the way to the destination, one of the passengers grabbed the cyclist and turned
11:15off the motorcycle, while the other tried to hit him with the whole handle.
11:21In the process, the hoodlum overpowered him, snatched his unregistered boxer motorcycle
11:26worth 800,000 naira, 800,000 nairas, and fled to an unknown location.
11:33Following a take-off, on the said 23 September 2024 at about 1830 hours, detectives from
11:42Gwiwa Division arrested one Amayaw, Yusuf Mel, age 32 years of Subut Village, Gwiwa
11:48local government area in connection with case.
11:52The suspect was transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Dunsey for
11:58discrete investigation.
12:01The case is under investigation.
12:03Upon completion of thorough investigation, all the suspects will be arraigned in court
12:08for prosecution.
12:09DSP Lawanshi Aiso Adam, Police Public Relations Officer, Jagawa State Police Command, Dunsey
