00:00The relief efforts of the government for those affected by the typhoon Kristine are already in full swing.
00:07We got the latest update from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary, Irene Dumlao.
00:14Good evening, ma'am.
00:16Good evening, Sheila. Good evening to everyone who is watching this program.
00:21Ms. Irene, how many relief goods have you prepared for those affected by the typhoon?
00:29Yes, in the Department of Social Welfare and Development, we have a national stockpile of family food packs,
00:36which is more than 2 million.
00:39These can be found in different places in our country,
00:44and of course, in our National Resource Operations Center and our Disaster Response Center.
00:51We are continuously producing family food packs so that we could immediately replenish
00:58our stockpiles that can be used as part of our disaster response operations.
01:03I mentioned that we have prepositioned in various parts of the country
01:11because we have existing relief prepositioning agreements with local government units.
01:16That is why we are using their warehouses and we have prepositioned there.
01:23So that anytime that the local government units would request for augmentation support from the national government,
01:28we can easily send our food packs.
01:33You mentioned that this is for the whole country.
01:36So, what are the places where you have distributed your relief goods?
01:42Currently, we have received a report from our field office 5
01:48where, as of 12 noon today, a total of P199,000 worth of relief assistance
01:57were already provided to affected families and individuals.
02:02We have also received assistance from evacuation centers
02:07and more than 2,500 individuals were stranded in ports here in Cabigulan.
02:17Do you have specific areas that you are focusing on?
02:22Of course, we are looking at the whole country that potentially will be affected by typhoon Christine.
02:29But of course, it depends on our coordination, on our trust,
02:34and of course, our coordination with our field offices and the local government units.
02:40We are focusing on Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa,
02:47and of course, Region 5 and Region 8.
02:52We are coordinating with our field offices.
02:55We are gathering information from the ground when it comes to our disaster response operations.
03:03As I mentioned, we have prepositions in various parts of the regions that I mentioned.
03:11But we just like to continue assuring our local partners, the local government units,
03:17that the help from the government is ready
03:22and we are ready to provide augmentation support to the local government units.
03:27Last question.
03:28Albay has declared a state of calamity.
03:32Do you have any extra help that you will be providing to them?
03:36Yes, actually, as I mentioned, for Region 5, we have prepositions of family food packs
03:44that are more than P160,000.
03:46The food packs that are strategically prepositioned.
03:51These are the ones that we will be using as part of our disaster response operations.
03:57And if we need to add more NROC or BDRC,
04:02that will be done by the DSWD.
04:06At any rate, the coordination of our field office 5 is continuous
04:11with the local officials here in the region
04:16so that we can distribute additional food packs to China.
04:22Thank you very much, DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumla.
