38:22It's familiar to the audience at this point when we bring an idea back with the same cast.
38:42What I don't think I've ever done before is bring the exact same group of people back
38:47to do a wholly new game.
38:49And in the case of Erica and Becca and Izzy, this game was very nearly inspired by the
38:55three of them.
38:56What this game required for me was people who were daring.
39:01I think not only are these three players daring, but they have a sort of manner in which they
39:06egg each other on.
39:07You're good.

39:21So this was a combination of two pitches.
39:24The Mike Trap pitch was the first act of the game and the sort of game mechanic of if they
39:30fulfill upon their promise, they win the point.
39:34If not, the other two players do.
39:36The Ben Joseph piece was this idea of they're signing up for something and they don't know
39:41what.
39:42So we took those two ideas and mashed them together and created this notion of the redacted
39:48prompt.
39:49We've done a lot of Game Changer episodes that involve punishments.
39:55It gets kind of hard to keep thinking of interesting challenges and punishments to give the players
40:01that haven't already been done and that are visually stimulating and cool and fun and
40:07also funny and not too torturous.
40:10We knew that we had to inject some positive little rewards into this episode so that the
40:16contestants didn't just say a low number every time.
40:18We had to be listening in for whatever number they said and finding that number, placing
40:26it on our table or whatever in a matter of seconds and running it out there.
40:31We're always running around back there.
40:33It's just tables and tables and tables of props.
40:37And there's so many props because all these episodes, that's the game, it's like changing,
40:41moving parts.
40:42Sam was very proud of the way in which he censored the prompt.
40:47Ever so slightly, you could kind of see the letters behind the black bar.
40:52Our players kind of saw those little pieces of letters peeking out and they were able
40:56to tell what it said.
40:57So then we have to be like, pause, hold on.
41:00We didn't think you'd be able to read this.
41:02How many?
41:03Should I guess?
41:04Oh, I rate it.
41:05How many?
41:06Yeah, it's how many people in the crew can I name?
41:07For those of you at home, we took a little break to make sure that our censor bars were
41:25covering up more of those letters in order so that this game could serve its intended
41:28purpose.
41:29I never guessed that our players would be quite so intuitive.
41:33We always have to have an upper limit.
41:35Like what's the maximum number they could possibly do?
41:39We knew that nobody was going to be able to put on a hundred t-shirts, but what if someone's
41:44doing it and then someone else decides to counter or they want to do it out of solidarity
41:50or they think they can do it better.
41:51We always have to have quadruple the amount of whatever we think is going to be the maximum.
41:56A wild moment from that episode is Izzy saying that she would stay after wrap for eight hours.
42:05You'll recall that she says, how much do you want to shoot trailer today?
42:11And what she's referring to is we shot one episode that day and spent the second half
42:18of the day shooting stuff specifically for the trailer.
42:22She was essentially calling my bluff, being like, if I stay here for eight hours, you're
42:27not going to be able to do that and so not believing.
42:29We made her stay for a while, not eight hours, but about as long as the schedule could afford.
42:36Sourcing the hot sauce was kind of a challenge, trying to figure out what was the accurate
42:41Scoville and what we were going to be prepared to give to people, you know, just because
42:49they chose the number and then here they are eating a hot sauce.
42:53We wanted to make sure we had their consent.
42:55It would be very, very unwise for you to go up to the number that we have.

43:02Sam wanted us to get enough variables of Scovilles to, you know, have it so that any number they
43:10named would be crazy for them to consume.
43:13But then last minute, it was like, oh no, are we going to really hurt them?
43:17I think one of my absolute favorite moments from Name Number was the professional tag
43:22player at the very end.
43:24I'm really glad that that landed with Becca.
43:28I think she took the assignment very seriously.
43:32And that shot, it feels like our Children of Men.
43:39Every season of Game Changer, as I'm doing my spiel with players where I talk them through
43:44what my expectations are of them outside of them knowing the concept of the game before
43:48we start shooting, is always safety and consent.
43:52All anyone had to do is make this gesture and say timeout in order to ask for a timeout,
43:58whether it's because they want to discuss something or whether it's because they're
44:02not comfortable with something.
44:04Sometimes we do take risks on the show, but we ultimately want everybody to be safe.
44:08What a delightful ending to the episode that it ended up being a tie.
44:11That all three of them got to enjoy the glory of a victory.
44:14It's just one of those moments that you're like, this is our show.
