Plans for a giant new energy storage facility in Cardiff have gotten the go ahead, which would make it one of the biggest anywhere in the world. The site will sit just to the east of Cardiff, but there are concerns that the massive project would have a huge impact on local wildlife.

00:00The Welsh Government have had net zero targets for a number of years now and have officially
00:06declared it a climate emergency, so plans are being put in place to reach those targets
00:11in the next few decades.
00:14The latest massive project is an energy storage facility aimed at providing a stable level
00:18of clean energy for the city and its surrounding areas, and will be one of the biggest of its
00:23kinds anywhere in the world when built.
00:26The plans were officially passed last week, but there are concerns from within the council
00:31who agreed to building of the site that local wildlife would be negatively impacted.
00:37One council though said that despite negative impact, the positives would drastically outweigh
00:42those issues and believed it would be a great opportunity for Cardiff.
00:48Storage site would be a security level for the area when a reliance on renewable energy
00:52and there is hope they will create a number of local jobs in the process.
