Cardiff has some amazing sights, and it’s always great to get a new look at those landmarks. Cardiff is lucky to have plenty of water nearby, so we’re taking a boat trip up the taff to get a new view of the city. The aquabus leaves hourly from Bute park near the castle, and goes all the way to the bay, so off we go.

00:00 Yeah, so this boat here is Aquabus. We have many different boats owned by Cardiff Cruises,
00:11 but this one here, we do a 25 minute boat ride, starting off here at Cardiff Castle
00:17 in Bute Park. We make our way down the River Taff, past the Principality Stadium, and we
00:22 head off down to Cardiff Bay, where we make a stop off at Mermay Quay, let passengers
00:28 on and off the boat. We're travelling up the Taff on the Aquabus, headed to Cardiff Bay.
00:33 The service works a bit like a bus between the centre and Cardiff Bay, but also doubles
00:37 up as a bit of a sightseeing tour, giving passengers a different perspective on parts
00:42 of the city you don't normally see. Yeah, so a lot of people use it as a bus service
00:48 to and from the bay, but we do get a lot of people, especially this end in the town, who
00:53 just want a boat ride and they get to see all the different sights of the town, you
00:56 get to see Cardiff Bay from a different view, and they come up and down and a lot of time
01:02 we get them coming back on the boat if they're ever back in Cardiff as well.
01:06 Plenty of locals use the service, but with it being a bit different, it can be quite
01:11 a popular tourist attraction for people visiting the city.
01:13 Yeah, it's a lot of tourists, particularly in the summer, you get a lot of them. We tend
01:19 to have particularly a lot of French, a lot of American, a lot of Australia come on board,
01:25 and they come down and they're just nicely surprised that it's here. They don't know
01:31 that it's here in Cardiff until they're here most of the time.
01:36 Coming into the bay is a particularly striking part of the journey. Being right in the middle
01:40 of the water, seeing the Norwegian church, the Senedd, and the Pierhead building and
01:44 the rest all in one glance is usually impossible from the quay in the bay, but this is a really
01:49 unique perspective.
01:54 And then at the other end we get here to Cardiff Bay, which of course is one of the iconic
01:58 parts of Cardiff. It's the perfect place to grab lunch and see the sights, and it only
02:02 takes 20 minutes or so to get here by boat, so you can't really ask for much more, can
02:06 you?
02:07 Yeah, particularly as you sort of go along you get to see, because Cardiff is a growing
02:12 city and you can't really see it from the roads, but there's a lot of new builds going
02:17 on. From the river you get to see it all, and as you get into the bay, obviously when
02:22 you're in the middle of the bay, you're right in the middle of the water, so you get almost
02:26 like a panoramic view of what the bay looks like, rather than being on land.
02:32 Brian says it's always a pleasure being able to meet plenty of people on the boat every
02:35 day and gets to see this unique view of Cardiff while at work.
02:39 Oh yes, of course, I've been here many years, and particularly in the summer everyone's
02:45 happy, everyone's getting on the boat and they're enjoying the views and they're all
02:49 chatty. It's great to hear people coming on board and saying how great the service is.
