00:00 So, when you've got off the train or the bus into town, where better to come than here
00:06 in Bute Park for a nice walk around one of Wales' finest city-based green spaces.
00:11 There's plenty to be doing here and you really could fill up a full day just wandering
00:14 around this beautiful park.
00:17 There are plenty of things to be getting up to in Bute Park, or you can spend a few hours
00:21 doing absolutely nothing, taking in the scenery with a picnic or a sit-down somewhere on the
00:26 fields.
00:28 If you do fancy taking a little walk around, you'll find something new on every path you
00:31 take.
00:32 You can tour around trying to find all the champion trees as well that are dotted around
00:36 the park.
00:37 Champion trees are the tallest of their kind found anywhere in the UK and Ireland, and
00:41 Bute Park has the highest number of any across the British Isles.
00:46 And then when you're done exploring this amazing park, we'll be catching the Aquapurs just
00:49 over there into Cardiff Bay.
00:51 What better way to get around the city than a trip down the Taff.
00:55 The boat trip takes about 25 minutes down to the bay, where you'll get a totally unique
01:00 view of some of Cardiff's landmarks, not least the Principality Stadium sat right next to
01:05 the river.
01:07 On the trip down you'll see swans and ducks swimming down the river before opening out
01:10 into the middle of Cardiff Bay, which is one of the best sights you'll see anywhere in
01:15 the whole city.
01:16 You can see the Senedd, St David's Hotel, the Norwegian Church, the Big Wheel, the Millennium
01:21 Centre and the Pierhead building all from one place.
01:25 There's literally nowhere else in the city where you can see so many sights and such
01:29 a beautiful view from one spot.
01:31 When you get to Cardiff Bay, of course, you can explore the plenty of bars and restaurants
01:35 or take in some of the more cultural sights.
01:37 You can visit the Norwegian Church, get a tour of the Senedd, find out all about the
01:41 Pierhead building or get an ice cream and take in a view of the bay.
01:45 What more could you ask for?
01:48 And then when you finish with Cardiff Bay and you get back to the city centre, there's
01:50 loads to be doing.
01:52 You could visit Cardiff Castle, which has a history dating all the way back to the Roman
01:56 times.
01:57 Cardiff Castle has always been one of the major visitor attractions in Cardiff and nowadays
02:02 it's getting even more important to the city.
02:04 With events throughout the summer, from gigs to festivals, the castle is definitely somewhere
02:08 worth stopping.
02:11 Or you can come here to the National Museum, which is of course free, so spend half an
02:15 hour or a few hours wandering around, taking in the history of Wales and some of the finest
02:19 art you'll see anywhere in the country.
02:23 The museum is home to an entire history of Wales, way back from the formation of the
02:28 earth.
02:29 So if you're looking to find out more about our country, this is definitely the place.
02:33 Plus it's perfect for those wet Welsh summer days and you can spend a good few hours inside
02:38 dodging the rain.
02:39 So there are clearly so many things to be doing in Cardiff but we didn't even do them
02:43 all.
02:44 There's Rowth Park, a half an hour walk from the city centre, of course plenty of shopping
02:48 to be done in town and just outside the main city area there are places like St Fagans
02:52 that you can spend a full day exploring.
02:56 Whatever you're after, of course Cardiff has you covered.
