00:00All right, what's up? MKBHD here. Welcome back to Dope Tech. And yes, this is an Xbox Series S fully portable in the shape of a laptop with a display on it and everything.
00:14This is sent to me by the creators of the X-Screen and for a certain group of people, this is really cool.
00:20So obviously, handheld gaming is having a bit of a moment right now. I am also currently testing this little guy called the Valve Steam Deck.
00:27You might have heard about it. Leave a thumbs up if you're excited for that video.
00:30But this thing, well, this is exactly what it looks like. It's called the X-Screen for Xbox Series S.
00:36And it basically turns the console into a laptop form factor for you hardcore gamers that want to play Xbox games but not just on the couch.
00:45So basically, all you have to do is plug it in by connecting this piece to the Xbox like a puzzle piece.
00:50It has a USB plug and an HDMI plug in the back.
00:53And you plug them in to line the whole thing up.
00:55And then there's two bonus little thumbscrews, one on either side to help hold everything in place.
01:00And then you use literally the original cable that came with the Xbox.
01:03And then boom, the whole thing can light up just like this.
01:06The screen turns on and you're gaming on the go.
01:09Now this screen, it's not the highest end screen in the world on paper.
01:13Like the numbers, it's an 11.6 inch diagonal screen.
01:16And it's 1080p. It's an IPS at 60 hertz, right?
01:20But it matches the size of the Xbox obviously to achieve this form factor.
01:25And then if you think about it, 1080p, right?
01:27So the screen you might be already gaming on for a console like this is 1080p.
01:31But this is obviously way smaller.
01:33So it's actually significantly sharper, the higher pixel density.
01:37And so you can sit much closer to it like I am here.
01:40And so it's really just about convenience to match the size of the Xbox.
01:43It's got the stereo speakers up top.
01:45It also has an optional stand mode to help you get a better angle.
01:48And it's got a crosshair mode to help you better aim in shooter games if you're into that.
01:52You basically just have to plug it in and light it up and it starts gaming.
01:56So yeah, it's not a 4K or 120 hertz screen or anything like that.
02:00But I wasn't really expecting that much from something that plugs directly into an Xbox.
02:05And you know what? It still does have this nice matte finish
02:07which makes it easy to see in a variety of lighting situations it might face.
02:11The audio gets surprisingly loud.
02:13Honestly, it's easy to have a lot of fun playing this
02:16almost anywhere that you could fit a normal or super thick gaming laptop.
02:21Well, except for the fact that you do pretty much always need to be plugged in.
02:25I did see a video on the Creator's YouTube channel
02:28where they have this massive 99-watt-hour battery.
02:31And so you could, in theory, bring it and the battery on a flight.
02:35You know, get that seat back tray table going.
02:38But it lasts about 40 minutes.
02:40So if you have the seat on a plane with no outlet, this isn't exactly great.
02:44But overall, aside from the rear USB and Ethernet ports being blocked
02:49and the white color not quite exactly matching up the same as the Xbox plastic
02:54but being really close, this thing is really well built.
02:57And it's $250 for the whole kit.
03:00So it's on Kickstarter right now.
03:02That's basically the same price as the Xbox Series S is going for.
03:06It's a little bit pricey.
03:07But I'll say if you have the outlet in the back of your car
03:09and you want to play Xbox games on the go,
03:12this is the best way to actually do that.
03:15Until maybe, of course, Tesla finally ships that gaming feature
03:19they've been promising for so long.
03:21So overall, I'm going to give this 7 out of 10.
03:23If it's actually shipping and people are playing Xbox games on the go,
03:26that's pretty dope.
03:28All right, these might be the strangest but coolest earbuds design I've ever seen.
03:33These are called Sony Link Buds.
03:36They're brand new. You might have seen me tweet about them the other day.
03:38And right away, you can tell they're pretty different from normal earbuds.
03:43You're seeing things correctly.
03:44The earbud is a circle.
03:46The part that actually goes into your ear is a circle.
03:50I'll explain.
03:51So a lot of the headphones we use right now have active noise cancellation
03:54but then a separate feature that they've started adding more and more often
03:57which is some sort of transparency mode.
03:59So it uses the microphones around the earbud to pump in sound from the outside
04:03so you can walk around on the streets and still hear the cars around you
04:07or hear when your bus or train stop gets called.
04:10So these, well, these are designed so you can always hear your environment around you
04:15even when you're wearing them.
04:17So they have an 11mm circular driver and a hole in the middle.
04:21So when you put the earbuds in, without playing any music,
04:24you can still hear a lot of the outside world around you.
04:28Then when you play music, well, yeah,
04:30it sounds like the headphones are on with the transparency mode.
04:33Now, I found it's not actually as good as, say, AirPods Pro
04:37because those microphones are actually amplifying your environment.
04:41So with these, you know, if there's music playing,
04:43you still hear a little bit of what's around you
04:45but you can actually drown it out if you turn the volume up loud enough.
04:48But I really have been impressed with how well these actually work.
04:52I mean, clearly the physics makes sense.
04:54There's a hole through it.
04:56But, yeah, now you're letting in constantly a non-adjustable amount of sound
05:01from the outside world.
05:02So it's great for listening to music while cars are around you
05:07or on public transportation so you can still hear
05:09when your bus stop gets full or something like that.
05:11It's consistent.
05:13So then the idea with these is even when you're done using them,
05:15done listening to music or taking a phone call or whatever it is you're doing,
05:18you can just leave them in your ears because you'll have transparency mode.
05:22You'll have the ability to hear what's going on around you all the time
05:25even when the earbuds are in.
05:26And it doesn't take extra battery power to do that.
05:30So now you're just having a normal conversation.
05:32Now the other thing you may have noticed is these earbuds are pretty tiny,
05:35like the buds themselves are very small,
05:37and the recycled plastic case they fit in as a result is also very pocketable.
05:42But the downside is that there's no space on the buds themselves
05:46for media controls anywhere.
05:48But that's where the second crazy feature comes into play.
05:52You can adjust volume by tapping the skin around your ears.
05:59So the Sony Connect app lets you program a double-tap or a triple-tap
06:04of your own skull on the right or left-hand side,
06:07and these earbuds are sensitive enough of their own position
06:09that you can map a double-tap on the right-hand side to be volume.
06:13A double-tap on the left-hand side could be skipping tracks
06:17or even opening Google Assistant or accepting a phone call.
06:20It's awesome. Overall, as crazy as these are,
06:22they are surprisingly usable.
06:24They're $179.
06:26Small case, no wireless charging, but it does have USB Type-C,
06:29and it gives you a 5-hour total battery life with these.
06:32Sound quality is solid, if anything, it's lacking a little bit of bass
06:36because it's not getting into your ear like normal earbuds might.
06:39But, yeah, if you can get the touch controls to work well,
06:42they're finicky sometimes, but you got to tap, like, right up next to your ear.
06:47They're pretty cool. I'm going to give these an 8 out of 10.
06:50Okay, this next product I know is absolutely not meant for me,
06:54but I can still respect it anyway.
06:56This is a super high-end gaming tablet,
07:00and I just need you to know that this is real,
07:02and this is something that actually exists.
07:04So this is the Asus ROG Flow Z13.
07:08This thing has an up to 14-core Intel Core i9 processor,
07:14a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card,
07:17a 1080p 120Hz display or a 4K 60Hz option,
07:23up to 1TB of M.2 SSD storage,
07:27and a vapor chamber cooling solution on the back.
07:30So, yes, it's a full-fledged gaming computer running Windows.
07:34You can think of it kind of like a Surface Pro,
07:36but just way more gaming-focused.
07:38Now, I can't imagine battery life will be killer on something like this most of the time,
07:43but, hey, gaming laptops don't typically have amazing battery life either,
07:46so that's not a huge surprise.
07:48I'm really into this design, though.
07:50The aesthetics of how they managed to shove all that power into a tablet-sized package.
07:56It's got some thickness to it, of course,
07:58and it's definitely not lightweight,
08:00but, you know, it's a reasonable layout.
08:02There's a power button and volume rockers on the right side,
08:04along with a combo microphone-headphone jack and a speaker at the bottom,
08:08and then there's a single USB Type-C Thunderbolt port on the left side,
08:12along with this labeled XGM port,
08:14which is going to let you plug in different external GPUs.
08:17There's pins and magnets at the bottom for docking a keyboard accessory,
08:20just like the Surface,
08:22and there's no ports up top, but just heat dissipation,
08:24just heat sinks, heat radiating out the top.
08:26And look at that.
08:28LEDs, PCB, and the angular cutout in the kickstand,
08:32that is a really nice touch.
08:34And I'm not just saying that because it's red and black,
08:36although that certainly helps,
08:37but they've made as many clever incisions for ventilation
08:40and angular gamer aesthetic as possible,
08:43and they seem to have gotten away with it.
08:45Now, 3050 Ti isn't the highest-end graphics card in the world, I get that.
08:49If you want to play The Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk or something like that on high settings,
08:53you're going to need more power,
08:55probably something in a laptop form factor.
08:57But that's why this thing can plug into those external GPU attachments,
09:01the same stuff that the ROG Flow thin and light laptop could plug into,
09:05because this is meant to actually game on.
09:07You should definitely watch Dave2D's full video on it.
09:09He gets 120 FPS on this tablet in Overwatch.
09:13It's a tablet. It's hilarious. I'll link it below.
09:16So the thing is a tablet when you want it to be,
09:18but can plug into this ROG XG mobile graphics dock,
09:22which gives you up to an RTX 3080.
09:24Basically, you're buying a gaming laptop in two parts, if that makes sense.
09:28But I keep coming back to everything I like about just the back of this tablet,
09:32the subtle texture of the metal,
09:34the rock-solid stand with this window cutout,
09:38and under the kickstand,
09:39there's a bunch of outlines giving you a peek at what's inside.
09:42So the M.2 SSD, the battery,
09:45and of course an opening to a micro SD card slot.
09:48There's also a set of coordinates on the back,
09:50which if you Google them,
09:51appears to direct you to Asus' headquarters in Taiwan.
09:54Best part though,
09:56they still included the camera on the back,
09:58because somewhere out there,
09:59there's somebody who would spend a bunch of money.
10:02There isn't even a price for this thing yet,
10:04but a bunch of money probably,
10:06on a super high-end gaming tablet,
10:09but still would take pictures with it.
10:12Anyway, I'm giving this thing like a 9 out of 10,
10:15just for the aesthetic, I'm a huge fan.
10:16But then, last thing I want to mention,
10:18this USB-C power cable with the display readout on the end,
10:22has been awesome.
10:23So basically, ever since I showed it in my everyday carry video,
10:26I've been carrying it,
10:27and it's low-key, just like nerdy fun,
10:30to just be able to plug in and see exactly
10:31what sort of wattage you're getting from your charger on any device.
10:34You know, we always talk about peak charging
10:36versus actual overall average charging rates.
10:39This is so obviously unnecessary and overkill,
10:42but being able to see exactly
10:43what type of power you're drawing at any given moment,
10:46maybe it's 30 watts, maybe it's 22,
10:49maybe it's your laptop,
10:50you're pulling over 100 from low battery.
10:52I don't know, it's just so entertaining.
10:53Now, the thing about this,
10:54every time I link it anywhere, it sells out.
10:57So I'm trying to do my best
10:58to keep an updated link in the description
11:00for wherever I can find it in stock.
11:02I'll do that again with this video,
11:03but no promises.
11:04If you want this,
11:05you'll probably have to act pretty fast.
11:07Good luck.
11:08Okay, really, truly, last but not least,
11:09as a reward for making it this far into the video,
11:12giveaway time.
11:13What better way to cap it off?
11:15So I'm teaming up with Aaron from MrWho'sTheBoss,
11:19who just recently hit 10 million subscribers.
11:22Huge shout out to him and congrats.
11:24It's an incredible milestone.
11:25And we're also going to be teaming up with dbrand,
11:28the logistics kings in tech that make this all possible.
11:31And why not just do a massive giveaway to celebrate it all?
11:35And by massive giveaway,
11:36I mean possibly the biggest tech giveaway of all time.
11:40So up for grabs is 10 iPhone 13 Pro Maxes,
11:44all with matte black dbrand skins applied.
11:4710 Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultras,
11:50all with the new atomic grip case,
11:52which is super nice.
11:53But then there's way more.
11:5420 PlayStation 5s with dbrand's dark plates.
11:58Don't ask me how we got these.
11:5930 of the new OLED Nintendo Switch.
12:0250 dbrand grip cases made for whatever phone you've got right now.
12:0680 pairs of the latest AirPods 3,
12:09all dbranded and 100 t-shirts.
12:13But not just any t-shirts,
12:1450 limited edition of a new design from Aaron
12:17and 50 of the iconic histogram shirt from myself.
12:21All you have to do to enter is hit the link in the description.
12:23Tons of chances to win.
12:25And it's super easy to hit the link and come back
12:27and just to check on the progress.
12:28Of who's been winning what as the giveaway goes on.
12:31Now as a bonus,
12:32Aaron's idea was that for every single one of you that enters,
12:35he'd be donating 2 cents to a charity called SolarAid,
12:39which gives solar powered lights to families in need
12:42who would otherwise have to burn dangerous fuels and risk fires.
12:45So this is a great cause.
12:47And for me, it was kind of a no brainer that I would match that.
12:50So between the two of our channels,
12:512 cents from him and 2 cents from me
12:54for every single one of you that enters this giveaway.
12:57It's a pretty positive impact we're able to make.
13:00How about that?
13:01Tech giveaway that actually has a little bit of a positive impact on the planet.
13:04So get entered below.
13:05Good luck.
13:06Thanks for watching Dope Tech.
13:08And I'll catch you guys in the next one.
13:10Peace.
