00:00The city of Baguio is continuing to prepare for the possible effects of Hurricane Christine in the area.

00:13The local government of Baguio City is preparing for the possible effects of Hurricane Christine in the city.

00:20According to Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong,

00:23the city needs to prepare for the possible effects of the rain that could cause landslides in different parts of the city.

00:30While the wind is not a major concern, it's the rain, the heavy rain.

00:38Because looking at the latest forecast, there's still a rainfall of 48 mm and that's quite alarming.

00:48Because of the storm, the mayor canceled his trip to Canada to monitor the situation of the city.

00:55The affected residents in landslide-prone areas also need to be warned before the storm hits.

01:02I'm expecting a strong rainfall of 24-25.

01:07So maybe there will be a cancellation of classes.

01:11Maybe one day before, we need to let them know.

01:14Meanwhile, Baguio City is hoping for tourists who are planning to visit Baguio City to stay away from the city

01:22because of the possible effects of the storm.

01:25The Office of the Civil Defense Cordillera is alerted for any possible effects of the storm.

01:30The office is targeting provinces in Cordillera that are prone to flooding,

01:35such as Abra, Calinga, Apayaw, and Ifugaw.

01:39In landslides, it's all provinces.

01:42The office is in a red alert status due to bad weather.

01:46The office is currently conducting a pre-disaster risk assessment.

01:51The Cordillera Administrative Region, through the Regional DRM Council, is now prepared.

01:57We already issued preparedness directives for October 19, 2024.

02:02We are hoping to increase our alert status to blue alert

02:06while we are waiting for the possible effects of the storm.

02:12The OCD CAR assured that the LGUs in Cordillera are ready

02:16based on the latest monitoring and presentation by the local governments.

02:21According to the data obtained by the OCD to the LGUs,

02:24food and non-items are enough for affected residents

02:29in case they are in need due to the effects of the storm.

02:34We were also given local government units, particularly LGUs and tourists.

02:39The DSWD Cordillera assured that all food and non-food items are pre-positioned in all provinces.
