00:00My immediate reaction was I think shock and disbelief and yeah and then I felt

00:15something very novel which I don't think I've felt in so many years of my life so

00:20it was a very special day for me. It's a day that I'll always remember.

00:30Personally it means a lot to be recognized for doing things differently

00:38for choosing different things from the regular and for still achieving this or

00:47coming here so personally I felt that I felt validated I felt that I was at

00:56least you know someone up there was saying okay good girl you did you're

01:01okay you did the right things but yeah professionally I think you know I've

01:07been here for a very long time and I've been here for many years and I've done

01:11lots of films so I generally you know feel like people by now recognize what I

01:21can contribute to a film and they I already I always get that get my due is

01:30what I feel this is like a just a feather in the cap like it's just

01:35something that adds to that

01:42it was certainly a character that I needed to really get away from my

01:49comfort zone a little bit it took me a minute to sort of snap out of being me

01:56and to be Shobana which is a character which is very very different from me the

02:03mannerisms the small little mannerisms the little things so nowhere in the film

02:09you will see Nitya at any point you'll always see Shobana and that is that is

02:14not something it's a very subtle thing and it's small and it it's not

02:19noticeable but it's you know a very conscious thing so I had to I I

02:25definitely had to be a little bit shaken out of my comfort zone to get into this

02:30character

02:35it's very difficult to talk about special moments because we do so much

02:41multiple films and all of that and the film was two years back but I I think

02:47the song that we shot for at night in the streets that was when we were

02:54shooting it itself it felt special and it felt magical because it was kind of

03:02choreographed and done on the spot and it was done with the two of us and what

03:08was comfortable for us and what we could do and what looked cute and Nitya do

03:14this you know do that and like oh okay okay just jump just okay just stay I'll

03:19do this so it was kind of it just got worked out right then and there and when

03:25we finished the shot and we came out everyone looked like everyone was

03:30beaming and so there was something very magical about that shot and once the

03:37film released that is the one that got the most picked up and became so viral

03:45I wouldn't say there's like one person but when you watch things that are made

03:54with so much heart and soul and when you watch really good work good writing good

04:00direction great acting that inspires you to say okay this is what I want to do as

04:06well so you know this is what I should aspire to be a part of

04:15I hope so I really hope it does open new doors for me I'm very lucky in the

04:24sense that people do give me recognition for everything I've done until now but I

04:30do hope new doors open yes

04:35I would say please choose the profession because you are really good at

04:44the work and if you can contribute something towards the art itself don't

04:52go into it trying to take something from it for yourself go into it because you

04:59can give something to it and also be yourself and be be fearless about being

05:06yourself I think I'm hoping that it makes people notice and see that you

05:21know just notice and say okay who won it this year and who is this actor and you

05:26know if they can recognize whatever work I've done or see some potential or see

05:33potential for for working together I would be very excited to work in any

05:38regional cinema in any language so I'm hoping that that happens for sure

05:49nothing I mean every industry has some beautiful things and every every place

05:58is different every culture is different and I fit in everywhere I think equally

06:04well I can I can be comfortable anywhere so I find there's beauty everywhere

06:15I think I would love to work with there are obviously people who stand out and

06:21people whose work that have I find very beautiful they make such beautiful films

06:27I really do hope that they you know are able to see some some potential in me so

06:36that you know I would be able to work with them there's definitely there I

06:41can't think of like just specific people or one or two people I would love to

06:46work with people who want to collaborate with artists and make something special

06:57well there's there are multiple films that are coming up and in Tamil I have

07:06like two three films that are about to be going into shoot one of them is

07:12Dhanush film which is which he's directing so that's a special one there's

07:17Vijay Sethupathi's films I'm looking forward to working with him again in a

07:21film and yeah a film with Jaim Ravi these are all Tamil projects and there's

07:29probably something coming up in Hindi as well but it hasn't been announced yet
