00:00Does my role say that I'm typecasted? I don't. I think I have done, Baraat Kampni was a film
00:12I did a nice glamorous role. I have done Asoor where I'm playing like Kamini, I'm playing
00:18a cop in and then I have so and I have done many other short films where I'm extremely
00:25glamorous. So I don't think so anybody can typecast. So what you're trying to ask me
00:30is that so what happens is when say for Ashram came out after that I was offered roles where
00:35I was asked to play a Yogi. So I said no, because it's up to me, should I be able to
00:42should I just continue doing that one role and get comfortable in that and be known through
00:45that or should I break. So I have always felt that once I have done a role, I must try something
00:53new so that it should also excite me. It can't be like okay, I did one cop, now I'll
00:59do a cop in the other, a cop in the third. Then people's vision is what you show them.
01:05If I keep showing them that I am only a Kavita from Ashram or a cop, then they will only
01:10see me in that light. It's up to me also and also yes, you have to be courageous enough
01:15to say no because many a times they pay you a bomb for a crap role. So you just say no
01:24you just live a simpler life and focus on the work that you want to do. That's what I do.
01:35So in Rocketry, my part was of Mariam Rashida. She is the one who is responsible for the
01:41turmoil and all the accusation in Mr. Nambinarayan's life. I just played the part. I think Madhavan
01:49sir has done a fantastic job by bringing this subject to light and giving the respect
01:55that the great man deserved, Nambinarayanan sir. Beyond that, I don't think so I have
02:00any say in that because it's a much bigger project and many respectable names are at
02:06stake for me to say anything but I think it's a fantastic film and more films like that
02:11should be made where the truth of an honest person is told to people because when I told
02:19people that have you all seen this film, a lot of people actually did not know about
02:22Nambinarayanan. So it speaks about how much we are also aware of the good people in our
02:29history. We are only talking about the fighters and the wars and all of that but we rarely
02:35talk about the silent heroes who suffer silently and still work for the nation. So this is
02:40one of those films and I am very proud to be a part of it.
02:42So it's not about Bollywood, it's about the audience's acceptance. So if for example,
02:54on a Diwali, if I am showing a film which is socially relevant but it has intimate scenes,
03:02people are not going to watch it with family. So the audiences are limited. So maybe when
03:07a producer wants to make a film which is a super hit, they are going to shy away from
03:11showing these things for obvious reasons so that they can attract more audiences. Yes,
03:17the audiences have become more mature and they are exposed to a wide variety of cinema
03:27after the OTT has come into play after the lockdown. When the theatre shut down, we were
03:32exposed to everything like all the international cinema and stuff like that. So now the audiences
03:37are still more accepting. But I still remember that I still can't sit and see a film where
03:43there is an intimate scene happening with my family. I still cannot. I am an actor and
03:47I have done it and I still cannot. So this is how deep it is. So they do shy away but
03:55the reason for them to shy away is I think this because then the audiences are limited
04:00and then if you cannot pull audiences to the theatre or to watch the film, then the whole
04:06purpose of making the cinema goes away. But having said that, there can always be ways
04:10to showcase it.
04:12As an actor, there is no value system. My first thing is Anurita can not do things but
04:23if I am doing a Kamini's role in Asur, I have to kill. Because it's not me, it's the character,
04:30the director, the writer has written, the director has to do and I just have to play
04:34it. So it's a story and we are just parts playing our parts in the story. So I don't
04:42have a value system when I am going to play. Yes, but if for example, there are many web
04:49series where they abuse and sexual content is unnecessary. So I do not agree to that.
05:00And hence when you ask me that is there a pressure, I say no. Because to me there is
05:05no pressure. For me because I think I always choose a role if it connects to me, if my
05:12gut feeling says that yeah do it. If it says no, then I just don't do it.
05:22I have just produced one short film. So for now, I don't know much about producing. The
05:26moment I get into producing films and further, then I will probably address this issue. Being
05:32an actor or being in this film industry is not easy, but it's very fulfilling. It takes
05:40a long time. It really, really takes a long time because especially because everybody
05:44is telling you, do this, do that. So for a person to understand what they really want
05:49to do takes a long time. But once you know that what you really want to do, you must
05:53do that. And that's what I have done. And every profession has challenges, I think.
06:02So it's okay. If there are no challenges, then how will we learn? How will we grow if
06:05we don't face the challenges? Only, you know, if you climb 10 stairs every day, then you'll
06:10only reach the 10th, like 10th stair. Only once you climb 20 stairs, then you know there's
06:16another floor. Then there's another floor. So it's only through obstacles and overcoming
06:21the obstacles. Every profession has obstacles.
06:29I really have beautiful memories of Chhatt Puja because my home in Katihar, where I was
06:36born and brought up, we had a small pond just next to our home and we used to sleep and
06:41wake up with the Chhatt Puja chant. Abhi Chhatt Puja ke din hi Sharda Sinha ji passed away
06:48and I was very like, it's a sad feeling because she's the one voice, jino ne Chhatt Puja ke
06:54gaano ko internationally logon tak sunaya hai. So, but yeah, I feel that Chhatt Puja
07:00is bahuti, bahuti, it's a very, it's very close to my heart. And it's a very beautiful
07:05festival jahan pe abhi bahut bahut woh thekwa, maine apne Instagram bhi dala bhi, koi thekwa
07:10khila do, toh do teen dosto ne bheja bhi. So it's a, it's a very beautiful, I have fond
07:15memories of it and happy Chhatt Puja to everyone.
07:23To my fans, thank you so much for accepting me, all my roles, loving me always. I always
07:29read your messages on my DM and even if you don't like my roles or whatever, I'm okay
07:34because every time I, okay, this one thing I definitely want to share because it's helped
07:42me a lot. Like many a times when I have been low in my life, suddenly some, like I was
07:46in Kumbh Mela, I was sitting and suddenly a boy came, person, ladka, he came and he
07:55looked up to me and his face brightened up and he said, Gangs of Assepur. And that time
07:59I was feeling very low. I was like, why don't I have work and all of that? And he said then
08:03and I said, oh, okay, I'm an actor. Let's get back to acting. So my fans have always,
08:09from somewhere or the other, they give me a lot of love. So thank you so much. Keep watching me.
08:20AK 47 is a web series that's based on the politics of Bihar and I'm playing a college
08:26graduate who's also involved in the political drama. After that, there's Ashram 4, which
08:31everybody loves. Every post I do on social media, people are like, when is Ashram 4 coming?
08:37And then there's my film Hawa Mithai that I've written and I'm currently in the process
08:44of developing it with NFDC Screenwriters Lab. And that's about it. And many more. You'll
08:51hear about it soon.
