00:00:39THAT WHICH PRECEDED IT, AND WHICH STILL REMAIN.
00:00:43HE REVEALED THE TORAH AND THE EVANGEL BEFORE THIS, AS A GUIDANCE OF THE PEOPLE.
00:00:50AND HE HAS REVEALED THE QURAN AS THE CRITERION OF JUDGMENT BETWEEN TRUTH AND FALSEHOOD.
00:00:56THOSE WHO DENY THE REVELATIONS OF ALLAH, THERE SURELY AWAITS THEM A SEVERE PUNISHMENT.
00:01:03MIGHTY IS ALLAH, THE LORD OF RETRIBUTION.
00:01:08AS TO ALLAH, VERILY NOTHING IN THIS EARTH NOR IN THE SPACE ABOVE IS HIDDEN FROM HIS
00:01:15VIEW.
00:01:17HE IT IS WHO FASHIONS YOU IN THE WOMBS AS HE WILL.
00:01:21THERE IS NO OTHER, CANNOT BE, AND WILL NEVER BE ONE WORTHY OF WORSHIP BUT HE, THE ALL-MIGHTY,
00:01:30THE ALL-WISE.
00:01:33HE IT IS WHO HAS REVEALED TO YOU THIS PERFECT BOOK.
00:01:38SOME OF ITS VERSES ARE DEFINITE AND DECISIVE.
00:01:41THEY ARE THE BASIC ROOT CONVEYING THE ESTABLISHED MEANINGS OF THE BOOK.
00:01:46AND OTHER VERSES ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO VARIOUS INTERPRETATIONS.
00:01:51AS FOR THOSE IN WHOSE HEARTS IS PERVERSITY, THEY FOLLOW VERSES THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO
00:01:56DIFFERENT INTERPRETATIONS, SEEKING TO CAUSE DISSENSION AND SEEKING AN INTERPRETATION OF
00:02:02THEIR OWN CHOICE.
00:02:04BUT NO ONE KNOWS ITS TRUE INTERPRETATION EXCEPT ALLAH AND THOSE WHO ARE FIRMLY GROUNDED
00:02:10IN KNOWLEDGE.
00:02:12THEY SAY, WE BELIEVE IN IT.
00:02:14IT IS ALL, THE BASIC AND DECISIVE VERSES AS WELL AS THE ALLEGORICAL ONES, FROM OUR LORD.
00:02:22AND NONE TAKE HEED EXCEPT THOSE ENDOWED WITH PURE AND CLEAR UNDERSTANDING.
00:02:28OUR LORD, THEY PRAY, LET NOT OUR HEARTS BECOME PERVERSE AFTER YOU HAVE GUIDED US, AND GRANT
00:02:36US FROM YOUR OWN SELF SPECIAL MERCY, FOR YOU ALONE ARE THE MOST LIBERAL BESTOWER.
00:02:44OUR LORD, YOU ARE INVARIABLY GOING TO ASSEMBLE ALL HUMANKIND ON THE DAY ABOUT THE ADVENT
00:02:51OF WHICH THERE IS NO DOUBT.
00:02:54SURELY ALLAH NEVER BREAKS HIS WORD.
00:02:58AS TO THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE, NEITHER THEIR POSSESSIONS NOR THEIR CHILDREN SHALL AVAIL
00:03:03THEM AT ALL AGAINST THE PUNISHMENT OF ALLAH, AND IT IS THEY THAT WILL BE THE FUEL OF THE
00:03:10FIRE.
00:03:12THEIR CONDUCT IS LIKE THE CONDUCT OF THE FOLLOWERS OF PHARAOH AND THOSE BEFORE THEM.
00:03:18THEY CRIED LIES TO OUR MESSAGES, SO THAT ALLAH TOOK THEM TO TASK FOR THEIR SINS.
00:03:25ALLAH IS SEVERE IN RETRIBUTION.
00:03:28SAY TO THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE, YOU SHALL SOON BE OVERCOME AND GATHERED TOGETHER TO BE DRIVEN
00:03:35TOWARDS JAHANNAH.
00:03:37WHAT AN EVIL ABODE IT IS.
00:03:40THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN FOR YOU A REMARKABLE SIGN IN THE TWO ARMIES THAT ENCOUNTERED EACH
00:03:46OTHER IN THE BATTLE OF BADR.
00:03:49BEHOLD, ONE ARMY IS FIGHTING IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH AND THE OTHER IS AN ARMY OF DISBELIEVERS
00:03:56WHOM THEY THE MUSLIMS SAW WITH THEIR NAKED EYES TWICE AS MANY, AND ALLAH STRENGTHENS
00:04:04WITH HIS HELP WHOMSOEVER HE WILL.
00:04:09VERILY IN THIS IS A LESSON FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EYES.
00:04:13IT HAS BEEN MADE FAIR-SEEMING TO THE PEOPLE THE LOVE OF THE DESIRED THINGS COMPRISING WOMEN,
00:04:20SONS STORED UP HEAPS OF GOLD AND SILVER, WELL-BRED HORSES, CATTLE, AND TILTH.
00:04:28THAT IS THE PROVISION OF THE PRESENT LIFE WHEREAS WITH ALLAH IS THE FAIREST GOAL OF
00:04:33LIFE.
00:04:35SAY SHALL I INFORM YOU OF SOMETHING BETTER THAN THESE?
00:04:41THERE ARE WITH THEIR LORD GARDENS SERVED WITH RUNNING STREAMS FOR THOSE WHO BECOME
00:04:46SECURE AGAINST EVIL.
00:04:49THERE THEY SHALL ABIDE FOREVER.
00:04:52AND THERE WILL BE THE RIGHTEOUS COMPANIONS PERFECTLY PURIFIED.
00:04:57AND ABOVE ALL THEY WILL ENJOY THE GOOD PLEASURE OF ALLAH.
00:05:02AND ALLAH IS MINDFUL OF HIS SERVANTS.
00:05:06WHO SAY OUR LORD WE HAVE CERTAINLY BELIEVED THEREFORE PROTECT US AGAINST THE CONSEQUENCES
00:05:14OF OUR SINS AND SAVE US FROM THE PUNISHMENT OF THE FIRE.
00:05:20AND THOSE WHO ARE PATIENTLY PERSEVERING, THE TRUTHFUL AND THE OBEDIENT, AND THOSE WHO SPEND
00:05:26LIBERALLY IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH, AND THE IMPLORERS OF DIVINE PROTECTION IN THE LATTER PART OF
00:05:32THE NIGHT AND FROM THE CORE OF THEIR HEARTS.
00:05:36ALLAH BEARS WITNESS THAT THERE IS NO OTHER, CANNOT BE, AND WILL NEVER BE ONE WORTHY OF
00:05:42WORSHIP BUT HE.
00:05:45AND SO DO THE ANGELS AND THOSE POSSESSED OF TRUE KNOWLEDGE, MAINTAINING JUSTICE.
00:05:52THERE IS NO OTHER, CANNOT BE, AND WILL NEVER BE ONE WORTHY OF WORSHIP BUT HE, THE ALL-MIGHTY,
00:06:00THE ALL-WISE.
00:06:04DECIDEDLY THE TRUE FAITH ACCEPTABLE TO ALLAH IS ISLAM.
00:06:09THOSE WHO WERE GIVEN THE SCRIPTURE WERE NOT AT VARIANCE EXCEPT AFTER THE KNOWLEDGE HAD
00:06:13COME TO THEM.
00:06:15THEIR DIFFERENCES WERE DUE TO MUTUAL ENVY AND TO SPITE ONE ANOTHER.
00:06:21AND WHO SO DENIES THE MESSAGES OF ALLAH SHOULD BEAR IN MIND THAT THEN ALLAH INDEED IS QUICK
00:06:28AT RECKONING.
00:06:30BUT IF THEY DISPUTE WITH YOU SAY, I HAVE COMPLETELY SUBMITTED MYSELF TO THE WILL AND GUIDANCE
00:06:37OF ALLAH, AND SO HAVE THOSE WHO FOLLOW ME.
00:06:41AND SAY TO THOSE WHO HAD BEEN GIVEN THE SCRIPTURE AND TO THE UNLETTERED, HAVE YOU ALSO SUBMITTED
00:06:47YOURSELVES?
00:06:50INDEED THEY WILL BE FOLLOWING TRUE GUIDANCE IF THEY SUBMIT THEMSELVES TO THE WILL OF GOD.
00:06:57BUT IF THEY TURN BACK THEN YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IS ONLY TO CONVEY THE MESSAGE.
00:07:03ALLAH IS EVER WATCHFUL OF HIS SERVANTS.
00:07:08SURELY THOSE WHO DENY THE MESSAGES OF ALLAH AND SEEK TO KILL THE PROPHETS WITHOUT A JUST
00:07:13CAUSE AND SLAY THOSE AMONG THE PEOPLE WHO ENJOIN EQUITY AND JUSTICE ANNOUNCE TO THEM
00:07:19A GRIEVOUS PUNISHMENT.
00:07:21IT IS THEY WHOSE DEEDS GO IN VAIN IN THIS WORLD AND IN THE HEREAFTER, AND THEY SHALL
00:07:28HAVE NONE TO HELP THEM.
00:07:31HAVE YOU NOT CONSIDERED THE CASE OF THOSE WHO WERE GIVEN A PORTION OF THE SCRIPTURE?
00:07:37WHEN THEY ARE CALLED TO THE BOOK OF ALLAH, THAT IT MAY JUDGE BETWEEN THEM, YET A PARTY
00:07:43OF THEM TURN AWAY IN SHEER AVERSION.
00:07:47THEY DO SO BECAUSE THEY SAY, THE FIRE WILL NOT EVEN BRUSH US EXCEPT FOR A LIMITED NUMBER
00:07:54OF DAYS.
00:07:56THEIR OWN LIVES THAT THEY USED TO FORGE HAVE DELUDED THEM IN THE MATTER OF THEIR FAITH.
00:08:02THEN HOW WILL THEY FAIR WHEN WE GATHER THEM TOGETHER FOR THE DAY ABOUT THE ADVENT OF WHICH
00:08:07THERE IS NO DOUBT, AND WHEN EVERY SOUL SHALL BE PAID IN FULL FOR WHAT IT HAS ACCOMPLISHED,
00:08:15AND THEY SHALL NOT BE DEALT WITH UNJUSTLY.
00:08:19SAY, O ALLAH, THE LORD OF ALL POWER, YOU GRANT POWER TO WHOMSOEVER YOU WILL, AND YOU
00:08:27TAKE AWAY POWER FROM WHOMSOEVER YOU PLEASE, AND CONFER HONOR AND DIGNITY ON WHOMSOEVER
00:08:33YOU WILL, AND DISGRACE WHOMSOEVER YOU WILL.
00:08:38ALL GOOD LIES IN YOUR HAND.
00:08:41VERILY YOU ARE THE POSSESSOR OF FULL POWER TO DO ALL YOU WILL.
00:08:48YOU CAUSE THE NIGHT TO MERGE INTO THE DAY, AND CAUSE THE DAY TO MERGE INTO THE NIGHT,
00:08:55AND BRING FORTH THE LIVING FROM THE DEAD, AND BRING FORTH THE DEAD FROM THE LIVING,
00:09:01AND PROVIDE ALL SORTS OF PROVISIONS TO WHOMSOEVER YOU WILL, WITHOUT MEASURE.
00:09:08LET NOT THE BELIEVERS TAKE THE DISBELIEVERS FOR ALLIES, IN PREFERENCE TO THE BELIEVERS
00:09:13UNLESS YOU VERY CAREFULLY GUARD AGAINST EVIL FROM THEM.
00:09:18INDEED, HE WHO ACTS LIKEWISE IN A CARELESS MANNER, LET HIM REMEMBER HE HAS NOTHING TO
00:09:25DO WITH ALLAH, AND ALLAH CAUTIONS YOU AGAINST HIS PUNISHMENT, FOR TO ALLAH IS THE EVENTUAL
00:09:32RETURNING.
00:09:35SAY WHETHER YOU CONCEAL THAT WHICH IS IN YOUR BOSOMS OR WHETHER YOU REVEAL IT ALLAH KNOWS
00:09:41IT, AND HE KNOWS WHATEVER IS IN THE HEAVENS AND WHATEVER IS IN THE EARTH.
00:09:48ALLAH IS THE POSSESSOR OF FULL POWER TO DO ALL THAT HE WILL.
00:09:54BEWARE OF THE DAY WHEN EVERY SOUL SHALL BE CONFRONTED WITH WHAT GOOD IT HAS DONE, AND
00:10:00SIMILARLY WHATEVER IT HAS DONE OF EVIL IT WILL EARNESTLY WISH THERE WOULD BE A LONG
00:10:07DISTANCE BETWEEN IT AND BETWEEN THAT.
00:10:11ALLAH CAUTIONS YOU AGAINST HIS PUNISHMENT, AND ALLAH IS MOST COMPASSIONATE TO HIS SERVANTS.
00:10:19SAY FOLLOW ME IF YOU LOVE ALLAH.
00:10:23IF YOU DO SO ALLAH WILL LOVE YOU AND GRANT YOU PROTECTION FROM YOUR SINS.
00:10:30ALLAH IS GREAT PROTECTOR, EVER MERCIFUL.
00:10:34SAY OBEY ALLAH AND THIS PERFECT MESSENGER.
00:10:39BUT IF THEY TURN AWAY THEN REMEMBER THAT ALLAH DOES NOT LOVE THE DISBELIEVERS.
00:10:46TRULY ALLAH CHOSE ADAM, NOAH AND THE FAMILY OF ABRAHAM AND THE FAMILY OF AMRON ABOVE
00:10:54ALL PEOPLES OF THE TIME.
00:10:58THEY ARE A LINEAGE CO-RELATED WITH ONE ANOTHER.
00:11:02ALLAH IS ALL-HEARING, ALL-KNOWING.
00:11:07ALLAH LISTENED WHEN A WOMAN OF THE FAMILY OF AMRON SAID, MY LORD, I DO HEREBY VOW TO
00:11:14YOU WHAT IS IN MY WOMB TO BE DEDICATED TO YOUR SERVICE, SO DO ACCEPT IT OF ME.
00:11:21YOU ALONE ARE THE ALL-HEARING, THE ALL-KNOWING.

00:11:43I HAVE NAMED HER MARY, AND I DO COMMEND HER TO YOUR PROTECTION, AND ALSO HER OFFSPRING
00:11:50TO BE SAVED FROM SATAN THE ACCURSED.
00:11:54SO HER LORD ACCEPTED HER WITH A GRACIOUS ACCEPTANCE AND MADE HER GROW INTO AN EXCELLENT
00:12:00FORM AND ASSIGNED HER TO THE CARE OF ZACHARIA.
00:12:05EVERY TIME ZACHARIA VISITED HER IN THE CHAMBER HE FOUND HER WITH HER PROVISIONS.

00:12:33PURE AND PIOUS DESCENDANT.
00:12:35YOU ALONE ARE INDEED THE HEARER OF PRAYERS.
00:12:40SO THE ANGELS CALLED TO HIM AS HE STOOD PRAYING IN THE SANCTUARY, ALLAH BEARS YOU THE GLAD
00:12:46TIDINGS OF JOHN, WHO SHALL CONFIRM THE WORD OF GOD, AND WHO SHALL BE NOBLE, UTTERLY CHASTE,
00:12:54A PROPHET FROM AMONG THE RIGHTEOUS.
00:12:56LORD, HE SAID, HOW SHALL I HAVE A SON, NOW THAT OLD AGE HAS ALREADY COME UPON ME AND
00:13:04MY WIFE IS BARREN?
00:13:07THE LORD SAID, SUCH ARE THE WAYS OF ALLAH, HE DOES WHAT HE WILL.
00:13:13HE SAID, MY LORD, GIVE ME SOME INSTRUCTION.
00:13:19THE LORD SAID, THE INSTRUCTION FOR YOU IS THAT YOU SHALL NOT SPEAK TO THE PEOPLE FOR
00:13:24THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS, EXCEPT BY GESTURES, AND REMEMBER YOUR LORD A GOOD DEAL AND GLORIFY
00:13:31HIM IN THE EVENING AND EARLY IN THE MORNING.
00:13:36RECALL THE TIME WHEN THE ANGELS SAID, O MARY, SURELY ALLAH HAS CHOSEN YOU AND HAS RID YOU
00:13:43OF ALL IMPURITIES AND HAS PREFERRED YOU TO THE WOMEN OF ALL CONTEMPORARY PEOPLE.
00:13:50O MARY, BE DEVOUT TO YOUR LORD AND PROSTRATE YOURSELF AND BOW ALONG WITH THE CONGREGATION
00:13:56OF THE WORSHIPERS OF GOD.
00:14:00THESE ARE SOME OF THE IMPORTANT ACCOUNTS OF THE THINGS UNSEEN WE HAVE REVEALED TO YOU.
00:14:05YOU WERE NOT PRESENT WITH THEM WHEN THEY, THE PRIESTS, CAST THEIR QUILLS TO DECIDE AS
00:14:11TO WHICH OF THEM SHOULD HAVE MARY IN HIS CHARGE TO ARRANGE HER MARRIAGE.
00:14:17AND YOU WERE NOT WITH THEM WHEN THEY, THE EXALTED ASSEMBLY OF THE ANGELS, WERE ENGAGED
00:14:23IN A DISCUSSION OVER THE ISSUE OF MUHAMMAD BEING ENTRUSTED WITH THE DIVINE MISSION.
00:14:30RECALL THE TIME WHEN THE ANGELS SAID, O MARY, ALLAH GIVES YOU GOOD TIDINGS THROUGH A PROPHETIC
00:14:36WORD FROM HIM ABOUT THE BIRTH OF A SON, WHOSE NAME IS THE MESSIAH JESUS, SON OF MARY.
00:14:46HE SHALL BE WORTHY OF REGARD IN THIS WORLD AND IN THE HEREAFTER AND ONE OF THE NEAREST
00:14:51ONES TO HIM.
00:14:54AND HE WILL SPEAK TO THE PEOPLE WHEN IN THE CRADLE AS A CHILD AND WHEN OF OLD AGE AND
00:15:00SHALL BE OF THE RIGHTEOUS.
00:15:03SHE SAID, MY LORD, HOW CAN I AND WHENCE SHALL I HAVE A CHILD WHILE NO MAN HAS YET TOUCHED
00:15:12ME?
00:15:14THE LORD SAID, SUCH ARE THE WAYS OF ALLAH.
00:15:18HE CREATES WHAT HE WILL.
00:15:21WHEN HE DECREES A THING HE SIMPLY COMMANDS IT BE AND IT COMES TO BE.
00:15:28THE ANGELS CONTINUED, AND HE WILL TEACH HIM THE ART OF WRITING AND READING AND THE WISDOM
00:15:34OF THE TORAH AND THE EVANGEL.
00:15:38AND HE WILL APPOINT HIM A MESSENGER TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.
00:15:42WITH THE MESSAGE, I HAVE COME TO YOU WITH A SIGN FROM YOUR LORD.
00:15:46I HAVE COME SO THAT I DETERMINED FOR YOUR BENEFIT FROM CLAY, A PERSON, AFTER THE MANNER
00:15:53OF A BIRD.
00:15:55AND I SHALL BREATHE INTO HIM A NEW SPIRIT, SO THAT HE BECOMES A FLYER, A SPIRITUAL PERSON,
00:16:02BY THE AUTHORITY OF ALLAH.
00:16:05AND I ABSOLVE THE BLIND AND THE LEPROUS.
00:16:08AND I QUICKEN THE SPIRITUALLY DEAD BY THE AUTHORITY OF ALLAH.
00:16:13AND I INFORM YOU AS TO WHAT YOU SHOULD EAT AND WHAT YOU SHOULD STORE IN YOUR HOUSES.
00:16:20BEHOLD, THESE FACTS SHALL SURELY SERVE YOU AS A DEFINITE SIGN IF YOU ARE BELIEVERS.
00:16:27AND I COME CONFIRMING THAT WHICH IS BEFORE ME, NAMELY THE TORAH, AND THAT I DECLARE LAWFUL
00:16:32FOR YOU SOME OF THE THINGS THAT HAD BEEN FORBIDDEN TO YOU.
00:16:36I COME TO YOU WITH A SIGN FROM YOUR LORD, SO TAKE ALLAH AS A SHIELD AND OBEY ME.
00:16:44Surely Allah is my Lord as well as your Lord, therefore worship Him.
00:16:49This is the right path."
00:16:52But when Jesus felt disbelief on their part, and thought his people would renounce him,
00:16:58he said, Who are my helpers in calling the people towards Allah?
00:17:04The disciples said, We are the helpers in the cause of Allah.
00:17:09We have believed in Allah.
00:17:11We witness that we are the submitting ones to his will.
00:17:16The disciples then prayed, Our Lord, we believe in that which you have revealed, and we follow
00:17:23this messenger, so count us with the witnesses of the truth.
00:17:28And they, the persecutors of Jesus, planned to crucify him, and Allah planned to save
00:17:34him, and Allah is the best of the planners.
00:17:39Remember the time when Allah said, O Jesus, I will cause you to die a natural death,
00:17:46and will exalt you to myself, and I will clear you of the unchaste accusations of those who
00:17:52disbelieve.
00:17:53I am going to make your followers prevail over the disbelievers till the day of resurrection.
00:18:00Then to me, O people, shall be your return, and I will judge all of your differences.
00:18:07Then as for those who disbelieve, I will punish them sternly in this world and in the hereafter,
00:18:14and they shall have no helpers.
00:18:17As for those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will pay them their rewards in full.
00:18:24Allah loves not the unjust.
00:18:28That is what we recite to you, the messages and the reminder full of wisdom.
00:18:37Only the case of Jesus is as the case of Adam in the sight of Allah.
00:18:42He fashioned him out of dust, then he said to him, Be, and he came to be.
00:18:50O reader, this is the real truth from your Lord, hence do not be of the disputers at
00:18:57all.
00:19:00Now whoso disputes with you in this matter of Jesus after there has come to you true
00:19:05knowledge, then say to him, Come, let us summon our sons and your sons, our women
00:19:13and your women, and our people and your people.
00:19:17Then let us pray fervently one against the other, and invoke the disapproval of Allah
00:19:23upon the liars.
00:19:25Verily, this which we have told is certainly the true account.
00:19:32There is no other, cannot be, and will never be one worthy of worship but Allah, and surely
00:19:39it is Allah who is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
00:19:45But if they turn away, then remember that Allah of course knows the mischief-makers.
00:19:50Say, O people of the scripture, let us agree to a proposition common to us both, that we
00:20:01worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partner with him, and that some of us
00:20:08shall not hold others as lords besides Allah.
00:20:13But if they turn away refusing, say, Bear witness that we are the only submitting ones
00:20:18to one God.
00:20:21O people of the scripture, why do you argue about Abraham, while the Torah and the evangel
00:20:28were not revealed till after him?
00:20:31Have you no sense?
00:20:33Behold, you are such as have argued about that whereof you have a little knowledge,
00:20:40now why do you argue about that whereof you have no knowledge at all?
00:20:46Indeed, Allah knows the truth, while you do not.
00:20:52Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was upright, who had submitted to the
00:20:59will of God, and he was not one of the polytheists.
00:21:05The people nearest to Abraham are surely those who followed him in the days of his prophethood,
00:21:11and this prophet, and those who believe in him.
00:21:15Indeed Allah is the patron of the believers.
00:21:19Believers, a section of the people of the scripture would fain lead you astray, and
00:21:25it is only the people like themselves that they lead astray, only they perceive not.
00:21:32O people of the scripture, why do you deny the revelations of Allah, while you are witnessing
00:21:38their truth?
00:21:41O people of the scripture, why do you confound the truth with falsehood, and conceal truth,
00:21:48and that too deliberately?
00:21:52A section of the people of the scripture said to their companions in confidence, avow belief
00:21:58in that which has been revealed to the believers in the early hours of the day, and deny it
00:22:04in the latter part of it, so that they, the newly converted Muslims, may return to disbelief.
00:22:13Yet avow this belief only for the sake of those who follow your creed.
00:22:18Say, surely the true guidance is Allah's guidance.
00:22:23And they also said, do not believe that anyone will ever be given the like of that gift of
00:22:29prophethood which you have been given, or that they will ever be able to prevail upon
00:22:36you in argument before your Lord.
00:22:39Say, eminence of prophethood and sovereignty is entirely in the hands of Allah.
00:22:46He confers it to whomsoever He will.
00:22:49And Allah is all-embracing, all-knowing.
00:22:56Allah has singled out for His grace of the bestowal of divine revelation, one whom He
00:23:01has pleased, for Allah is the Lord of great eminence.
00:23:08And among the people of the scripture, there is He who if you trust Him with a huge treasure,
00:23:14He will surrender it to you.
00:23:17Yet there is another among them, that if you entrust Him with a single dinar, He will not
00:23:23surrender it to you unless you keep on pressing Him.
00:23:28They do that because they say, we are not liable to be called to account in the matter
00:23:33of the unlettered.
00:23:36And they tell a lie in the name of Allah deliberately.
00:23:40Nay, they will indeed be called to account.
00:23:45Yet whoso discharges his obligations and guards against evil, he will find that Allah in fact
00:23:54loves those who guard against evil.
00:23:58On the contrary, those who take paltry gains for shaking off their covenant with Allah
00:24:04and their oaths, it is these for whom there shall be no big share in the hereafter.
00:24:11Allah will never speak to them lovingly, nor look at them with affection on the day of
00:24:16resurrection, nor will He treat them as pure.
00:24:20There awaits them a woeful punishment.
00:24:24There are some among them who twist their tongues while reciting their scripture, that
00:24:30you may think that what they recite is a part of the scripture, whilst it is no part
00:24:35of the scripture.
00:24:37And they say, this is from Allah, whereas it is not from Allah.
00:24:44They tell a lie in the name of Allah deliberately.
00:24:49It is not given to a human being that Allah should give him the book, the sovereignty
00:24:55and the prophethood, and then he should say to the people, be servants to me besides Allah.
00:25:02He would rather say, be you the sole devotees of Allah, the Lord, for you teach the book
00:25:10and because you study it.
00:25:13Nor would it be possible for him that he bid you take the angels and prophets as your lords.
00:25:21Would he bid you disbelieve, after you have submitted yourselves?
00:25:27Recall the time when Allah bound the people to a covenant through the prophets, saying,
00:25:33Indeed, whatever I have vouchsafed to you of the book and the wisdom, and then there
00:25:38comes to you a messenger fulfilling that which is with you, you shall surely believe in him
00:25:43and have to help him.
00:25:45The Lord further said, Do you agree and do you undertake the heavy responsibility of
00:25:52my covenant on these terms?
00:25:55They said, We do agree.
00:25:58God said, Bear witness to it, and I am with you among the witnesses.
00:26:04Now those who turn away and break their pledge after this will be the real transgressors.
00:26:12Do they then seek a creed other than Allah's, while all those that are in the heavens and
00:26:17on the earth submit to him willingly or unwillingly, and to him they shall be made to return?
00:26:24Say, We believe in Allah, and in that which has been revealed to us, and in that which
00:26:31was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and his children, and in
00:26:39that which was given to Moses and Jesus, and to all other prophets from their Lord.
00:26:47We make no distinction between any one of them in believing them, and to him alone do
00:26:52we submit.
00:26:55And whosoever seeks a faith other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and he
00:27:02shall be of the losers in the hereafter.
00:27:06How is Allah to guide a people who renounce their faith after having accepted it, and
00:27:11after testifying to the truth of the messenger, and after clear and sound proofs had come
00:27:18to them?
00:27:19And Allah never guides a people who cannot discriminate between right and wrong.
00:27:26It is these whose recompense is that the disapproval of Allah shall be upon them, and that of the
00:27:33angels and of the people altogether.
00:27:38They shall abide there for long, their punishment shall not be reduced, nor shall they be reprieved.
00:27:47Accept those who repent after this, and make amends.
00:27:52Such will find that surely Allah is the great Protector, ever merciful.
00:27:59Verily those who chose disbelief after they had believed, and then go on increasing in
00:28:06disbelief, their repentance shall not be accepted, and these are the people who are completely
00:28:12lost.
00:28:14Verily as to those who have disbelieved, and die while they are disbelievers, there shall
00:28:21not be accepted from any one of them, even an earth full of gold, if he would ransom
00:28:26himself thereby.
00:28:28There awaits them a woeful punishment, they shall have no helpers either.
00:28:36Never shall you attain the highest state of virtue, unless you spend in the cause of Allah,
00:28:42out of that which you love, and whatever you spend, Allah indeed knows it well.
00:28:50All the pure food, which is lawful in Islam, was lawful for the children of Israel, except
00:28:56what Israel forbade himself before the advent of Torah.
00:29:01Say bring then the Torah and read it if you are right in your assertions.
00:29:07Now whoso forges a lie against Allah after that, it is they who are the unjust.
00:29:14Say now that it has been proved that Allah has declared the truth, therefore follow the
00:29:22creed of Abraham the upright, and he was not of the polytheists.
00:29:28Verily the first house founded for the good of humankind is the one at Beqa.
00:29:33It is the house full of blessings, and a means of guidance for all the peoples.
00:29:39Therein are clear memorials.
00:29:41The first is the place where Abraham stood for prayers, secondly whosoever enters it
00:29:48is in a state of peace and security, thirdly pilgrimage to the house is due to Allah from
00:29:57every one of humankind who is physically, financially, and in many other ways able,
00:30:04and has the means to make the journey thereto.
00:30:07And whosoever disobeys, let him remember that Allah is independent of the worlds.
00:30:14Say, O you people of the scripture, why do you deny the messages of Allah while Allah
00:30:21is witness to all that you do?
00:30:24Say, O people of the scripture, why do you hinder him who believes from following the
00:30:31path of Allah?
00:30:33You try to seek crookedness in it while you yourselves are witnesses to its truth, and
00:30:39Allah is not at all unmindful of what you do.
00:30:44O you who believe, if you obey a section of those who have been given the scripture, they
00:30:50will turn you back into disbelievers after having believed.
00:30:56And how would you disbelieve while the messages of Allah are rehearsed to you, and his messenger
00:31:02is present in your midst?
00:31:06And whosoever holds fast to Allah is indeed guided on to the exact right path.
00:31:14O you who believe, observe your duty to Allah as it ought to be observed, and let not death
00:31:21overtake you unless you be in a state of complete submission to your Lord.
00:31:28Hold fast to the means of access to Allah altogether, and do not be disunited.
00:31:35And remember Allah's favors to you when you were enemies one to another.
00:31:41He united your hearts in love, so that by his grace you became brethren.
00:31:47And you were on the brink of a pit of fire.
00:31:50He saved you therefrom.
00:31:53Thus does Allah explain to you his messages and miracles, that you may be guided aright.
00:32:01And let there always be a community of such people among you who should call people to
00:32:06goodness and enjoin equity and forbid evil.
00:32:10It is these who shall attain to their goal.
00:32:14And do not be like those who were disunited and fell into variance after clear proofs
00:32:20had come to them.
00:32:22It is these for whom a great punishment awaits.
00:32:27On the day when some faces shall be lit up by happiness, and some faces shall be clouded
00:32:33because of sorrow, it will be said to those faces who are clouded, is it not true that
00:32:40you disbelieved after your belief?
00:32:43Taste now the punishment because you disbelieved.
00:32:48And as for those whose faces shall be lit up, they shall come under the mercy of Allah,
00:32:54and in it they shall abide forever.
00:32:58Such are the revelations of Allah comprising the truth.
00:33:02We rehearse them to you.
00:33:04And Allah means no injustice to any of his creatures.
00:33:09And to Allah belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.
00:33:16And all matters stand referred to Allah.
00:33:22You are the noblest people raised up for the good of humankind.
00:33:28You enjoin equity and forbid evil, and you believe truly in Allah.
00:33:34Had the people of the scripture also believed, it would surely have been best for them.
00:33:41Some of them are believers, yet most of them are disobedient.
00:33:47They shall do you no harm except a trifling hurt, and if they fight you, they will show
00:33:54you their backs and flee.
00:33:56They shall never be helped then.
00:33:59Smitten are they with ignominy wherever they are found unless they have a bond of protection
00:34:06from Allah or a bond of security from the people.
00:34:11They have incurred the displeasure of Allah and have been condemned to humiliation.
00:34:17That is so because they would disbelieve in the messages of Allah and would seek to kill
00:34:24the prophets without any just cause, and that is so because they rebelled and had been transgressing
00:34:30as usual.
00:34:32They, the people of the scripture, are not all alike.
00:34:37Among these people of the scripture there are some upright people.
00:34:41They rehearse the message of Allah in the hours of the night, and they prostrate themselves
00:34:46in His worship.
00:34:48They believe in Allah and the last day, and enjoin good and forbid evil, and they vie
00:34:56one with another in doing good deeds.
00:35:00And it is these who are of the truly righteous.
00:35:04And whatever good they do, they shall not be denied its due recognition.
00:35:09And Allah knows well those who guard against evil.
00:35:15Verily as to those who disbelieve, neither their possessions nor their children shall
00:35:20avail them aught against the punishment of Allah.
00:35:25And it is they who are the fellows of the fire.
00:35:28Therein shall they live long.
00:35:32That which they spend for the present life bears likeness with the wind wherein is freezing
00:35:39cold which smites the tilth of the people who have done injustice to themselves, so
00:35:46it destroys it.
00:35:49Allah does no injustice to them, but they wrong themselves.
00:35:54O you who believe, do not hold other people as confidants of your secrets to the exclusion
00:36:01of your own honest folk.
00:36:04Such people shall not be remiss to corrupt you.
00:36:08They love all that by which you get into trouble.
00:36:12Gross hatred has already expressed itself through the utterances of their mouths, and
00:36:19what their hearts conceal is far worse.
00:36:23Now we have explained the messages fully to you, if you would only understand.
00:36:31You are those who love them, while they do not love you, though you believe in every
00:36:37divine book, in the whole of it.
00:36:40And when they meet you, they say, we believe, and when they are alone, they bite their fingertips
00:36:47out of rage against you.
00:36:50Say, perish in your rage, surely Allah knows the inmost secrets of your hearts.
00:36:58If anything good contacts you, it hurts them, but if an evil afflicts you, they rejoice
00:37:04thereat.
00:37:05However, if you patiently persevere and ward off evil, their machination will do you no
00:37:13harm at all.
00:37:15Verily, Allah encompasses all their activities.
00:37:20And recall the time when you, O Prophet, went forth early in the morning from your family
00:37:26assigning to the believers their battle post in the battle of Uhud.
00:37:31And Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.
00:37:35When two groups from among you were disposed to show cowardliness, and Allah was the protecting
00:37:42friend of them both, and in Allah the believers should put their trust.
00:37:49Surely Allah had already helped you at the battle of Badr, while you were utterly weak.
00:37:56Therefore, take Allah as a shield, so that He may bless you and you may give Him thanks.
00:38:03Recall the time when you said to the believers, does it not suffice you that your Lord should
00:38:08reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down by Him?
00:38:15Indeed it does.
00:38:16And if you patiently persevere and guard against evil, and they, the enemies, come upon you
00:38:23suddenly and in hot haste of theirs, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand
00:38:30swooping and havoc-making angels.
00:38:34And Allah meant not this help by the angels, except as good tidings of victory for you,
00:38:41and to set your hearts at ease therewith.
00:38:45There is no real help and victory except from Allah alone, the Almighty, the All-Wise.
00:38:54God will do accordingly at Uhud, with the result that He may cut off a section of those
00:39:01who disbelieve, and their leaders, and vanquish others with humiliation, so that they might
00:39:08go back utterly frustrated.
00:39:10O Prophet, you have no say whatsoever in the matter.
00:39:15It is up to Him alone, whether He turns towards them with mercy or punishes them because they
00:39:21are certainly wrongdoers.
00:39:24And to Allah belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.
00:39:30He protects against sins, whom He will, and punishes whom He will.
00:39:36Allah is Great Protector, Ever Merciful.
00:39:42O you who believe, do not practice usury and interest involving multiple additions, and
00:39:49keep your duty to Allah, and take Him as a shield, so that you may prosper.
00:39:56Be on your guard against the fire which has been prepared for the disbelievers.
00:40:01And obey Allah and this Messenger, that you may be shown mercy.
00:40:08Wing your way to the protection of your Lord, and to the paradise whose expanse is as vast
00:40:14as the heavens and the earth.
00:40:16It is prepared for those who become secure against evil.
00:40:22Those who spend in the cause of Allah, in prosperity and adversity, and those who suppress
00:40:28anger and pardon the offenses of the people.
00:40:32And Allah loves such doers of good to others.
00:40:36And those who when they commit any act of indecency or do injustice to themselves, remember
00:40:43Allah and implore Him for protection against their sins.
00:40:47And who can protect against sins except Allah?
00:40:51And they do not deliberately persist in wrongdoing.
00:40:56It is these whose reward is protection from their Lord, and gardens served with running
00:41:02streams.
00:41:03Therein they shall live forever.
00:41:06How excellent is the reward of the painstaking in the right direction.
00:41:13Surely there have been diverse dispensations before you, so travel in the land and see
00:41:18how evil was the fate of those who cried lies to the prophets.
00:41:24This Quran is a clear exposition of the truth for humankind to follow, and a means to guidance,
00:41:31and an exhortation to those who guard against evil, and are dutiful to God and people.
00:41:39Therefore slacken not, nor grieve, and when you are true believers you shall certainly
00:41:44be triumphant.
00:41:47If you have received an outer injury, surely the disbelieving people have already received
00:41:53a similar injury.
00:41:56These days of vicissitudes are those which we cause to alternate among the people.
00:42:02It is so that you may be admonished, and that among other things, Allah may distinguish
00:42:07those who really believe, and so that He may raise martyrs from among you.
00:42:13And Allah does not love the unjust.
00:42:17And it is so that Allah may purge all the impurities of those who truly believe, and
00:42:23so that He may wipe off the disbelievers gradually.
00:42:29Do you suppose that you would enter paradise while Allah has not yet distinguished those
00:42:36of you who strive hard in the cause of Allah, and has not yet distinguished the patiently
00:42:41persevering?
00:42:44And you used to long for death before you met it, but now you have seen it and you will
00:42:50see yet many more wonders happen.
00:42:54And Muhammad is but a messenger.
00:42:57Surely all messengers have passed away before him.
00:43:01Would you recant it if he dies or be killed?
00:43:05And he who recants shall do no harm at all to Allah, and Allah will certainly reward
00:43:12the grateful.
00:43:14Nor can a living being die save by the leave of Allah, a decree with a prescribed term.
00:43:22And he who desires the reward for his deeds of this world, we grant him thereof.
00:43:29And he who desires the reward of the hereafter, we grant him thereof, and we will certainly
00:43:35reward the grateful.
00:43:38There has been many a prophet beside whom many worshippers of the Lord fought.
00:43:43They were neither unnerved on account of all that befell them in the cause of Allah, nor
00:43:48did they weaken, nor did they show inconsistency against their adversary.
00:43:54Allah certainly loves such patiently persevering ones.
00:43:59Their word of prayer was only that they said, Our Lord, grant us protection against the
00:44:06consequences of our sins and our excesses in our conduct, and make our foothold firm,
00:44:15and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.
00:44:19So Allah granted them the reward of this world as also an excellent reward of the hereafter.
00:44:26And Allah loves the doers of good to others.
00:44:30O you who believe, if you obey those who have disbelieved, they will make you turn
00:44:36apostates so that you will become losers.
00:44:40Nay, Allah is your patron and protector, and He is the best of the helpers.
00:44:48We shall certainly strike terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, because
00:44:54they have associated with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority.
00:45:00Their abode is the fire, and how dismal is the lodging of the wrongdoers.
00:45:06And certainly Allah had made good His promise to you when you were slaying them to pieces
00:45:12by His leave in the battle of Uhud, until when you became lax and disagreed among yourselves
00:45:20about the implications of the order of the Prophet, and you disobeyed your leader Abdullah
00:45:25bin Jubair, after he had brought that victory which you desired within your sight, he withdrew
00:45:32his help from you.
00:45:35There were some among you who desired the present life, and among you were those who
00:45:40desired the life to come.
00:45:42Then he turned you away from gaining clear victory over them, the enemy, that he might
00:45:48reveal your true selves.
00:45:51Yet he surely pardoned you, Allah is gracious to the believers.
00:45:57When you were going hard and far in pursuit of the enemy in the battle of Uhud, and you
00:46:02would not cast even a side glance at, and wait for anyone while the messenger was calling
00:46:09out to you from your rear to come back.
00:46:12So he gave you greater sorrow which proved unreal later on in place of the sorrow you
00:46:17had already, in order that you should not grieve over what you had missed of clear victory,
00:46:23nor over what befell you of the hardships.
00:46:27And Allah is well aware of what you do.
00:46:31Then after the sorrow he sent down tranquility upon you, a slumber which overwhelmed a party
00:46:39of you, while another party of the hypocrites, whom their own personal interest had made
00:46:45anxious, entertained unjustly false notions about Allah like the false notions they used
00:46:52to bear in the days of ignorance.
00:46:55They said, Have we any authority in the execution of the matter of administration?
00:47:01Say the whole authority rests with Allah.
00:47:06They hide in their minds thoughts which they would not disclose to you.
00:47:12They say, If we had any authority in the execution of the matter of administration
00:47:18we would not have been killed here.
00:47:21Say, Even if you had been confined in your homes, surely those who were ordained to be
00:47:27slain would have, nevertheless, gone forth to the places where they were destined to
00:47:32fall.
00:47:33And all this that took place in the battle of Uhud was that Allah might reveal what was
00:47:40in your hearts, and so that he might purge what was in your minds.
00:47:45And Allah knows well what is in the minds of the people.
00:47:49Surely those of you who turned their backs on the day when two armies met in the battlefield
00:47:54of Uhud, it was Satan indeed who sought to seduce them to do so, without any intention
00:48:01on their part, because of certain other doings of theirs, and most certainly Allah has already
00:48:07pardoned them.
00:48:09Surely Allah is great Protector, ever-forbearing.
00:48:12O you who believe, do not be like those who have concealed the truth, and who say of their
00:48:21brethren when they, the latter, travel in the land, or go forth on any campaign, and
00:48:27fall martyrs, Had they been with us, they would not have died or been killed.
00:48:33They say it so that Allah makes this a cause of intense regret in their hearts.
00:48:40The fact, however, is that it is Allah who gives life and causes death.
00:48:45Allah sees well all that you do.
00:48:48And if you are killed in the cause of Allah, or you die, surely you will find that the
00:48:54protection from Allah and his mercy, which fall to your lot, are far better than what
00:49:00they who have concealed the truth amass.
00:49:06Indeed whether you die or be killed, verily you shall be gathered together and brought
00:49:11before Allah.
00:49:12So, O Prophet, it is owing to the great mercy of Allah that you are gentle towards them.
00:49:21Had you been harsh, hard-hearted, they would have certainly dispersed from around you.
00:49:26Hence, pardon them and ask protection for them, and consult them in matters of administration,
00:49:33and when you are determined after due consultation, put your trust in Allah.
00:49:39Verily Allah loves those who put their trust in him.
00:49:44If Allah goes on helping you, there is none to overcome you, and if he forsakes you, then
00:49:50who is there that will help you besides him?
00:49:53Let the believers put their trust in Allah alone.
00:49:58It is not possible for a prophet to be guilty of a breach of trust.
00:50:03But whoever else is guilty of a breach of trust, he will have to bring forth that about
00:50:09which he had been guilty on the day of resurrection, when every soul shall be paid in full for what
00:50:15it has accomplished, and there shall not be done any injustice.
00:50:21Can the person who always follows the good pleasure of Allah be like the person who has
00:50:26incurred the displeasure of Allah, and whose abode is Jahannah?
00:50:31What an evil destined abode it is!
00:50:35They, the believers and the prophets, have exalted degrees of rank and grace with Allah,
00:50:42and Allah sees well of all that they do.
00:50:47Verily, Allah has bestowed a favor on the believers when he has raised amongst them
00:50:53a great messenger from amongst themselves, who recites to them his messages and purifies
00:50:59them and teaches them the book and the wisdom, although before this they were steeped in
00:51:06flagrant error.
00:51:09So what when you suffered a loss at the battle of Uhud, you had already inflicted a loss
00:51:15upon your enemy twice as heavy as that at the battle of Badr.
00:51:21You began to say, Whence is this?
00:51:25Say, It is of your own making.
00:51:29Surely Allah is the possessor of full power to do all that he will.
00:51:35And that which befell you on the day when the two armies met at Uhud was so by the leave
00:51:41of Allah, and it happened thus so that he might distinguish the believers, and that
00:51:48he might distinguish those who practice hypocrisy.
00:51:52Indeed it was said to them, Come forward, fight in the cause of Allah, or at least help
00:51:58the defenses.
00:52:00They said, If we but knew that it would be a fight we would surely follow you.
00:52:07But the Muslims were going to a sure destruction.
00:52:11On that day they were nearer to disbelief than to belief.
00:52:16They say with their mouths that which is not in their minds, and Allah knows best all that
00:52:23they conceal.
00:52:26It is these who said of their brethren whilst they themselves stayed behind declining the
00:52:31field.
00:52:32If they had obeyed us they would not have been killed.
00:52:37Say, Then avert death from yourselves if you are right.
00:52:44And think not of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead.
00:52:49Nay they are alive, enjoying the company of their ever-living Lord, and well-provided
00:52:56as they deserve to be for an everlasting life.
00:53:01Yet because of that which Allah has given them out of His grace, they are receiving
00:53:06glad tidings also about those believers similar to themselves who are still left behind them
00:53:13in this world, and have not yet joined them, that they shall have no cause of fear nor
00:53:19shall they grieve, rather they will be victorious and will see the promise of Allah fulfilled.
00:53:27And they, the martyrs, are also receiving glad tidings that those who have been left
00:53:32behind in the world are happy because of the favors of Allah and His great bounty, and
00:53:39that Allah does not suffer the reward of the believers to be lost.
00:53:45Those who responded to the call of Allah and the messenger after they had received an injury
00:53:51at Uhud, for those amongst them who did their duty well and warded off evil by pursuing
00:53:58the enemy forces the next day, there awaits a great reward.
00:54:06Those to whom at the time of the expedition said, People have assembled against you, so
00:54:12fear them, but this threat of danger increased their faith and they said, Allah is sufficient
00:54:18for us, and He is an excellent disposer of affairs.
00:54:24Hence they returned with a mighty blessing from Allah and a great bounty.
00:54:29They suffered no harm whatsoever, and they followed the good pleasure of Allah, indeed
00:54:36Allah is the possessor of great bounty.
00:54:40Now you have come to know that it is Satan in fact who merely threatens through his friends,
00:54:46so do not fear them, rather fear me if you are true believers.
00:54:52And do not let those who vie with one another in following the ways of disbelief grieve
00:54:58you, surely they shall not be able to do the slightest harm to Allah.
00:55:03It is Allah's will to assign them no portion in the hereafter, rather there awaits them
00:55:09a great punishment.
00:55:12Those who preferred disbelief to belief will not be able to do the least harm to Allah,
00:55:19a grievous punishment awaits them.
00:55:24And do not let those who disbelieve think that the respite we give them is good for
00:55:29them, surely we grant them respite, but they do not avail it, with the result that they
00:55:36add to their sins, a humiliating punishment awaits them.
00:55:42And Allah is not going to leave you, the believers, as you are, unless he has distinguished the
00:55:50corrupt from the good, nor is Allah going to reveal fully to every one of you the unseen.
00:55:58But Allah chooses for His messages such of His messengers as He will.
00:56:04Believe therefore in Allah and His messengers, and remember if you believe truly and guard
00:56:11against evil then there is for you a great reward.
00:56:17And do not let those who behave niggardly in spending what Allah has granted them of
00:56:22His bounty think that it is good for them, nay, it is bad for them.
00:56:28They shall certainly have the things that they were niggardly about hung about their
00:56:33necks like halters on the day of resurrection.
00:56:37And to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth, indeed Allah is well aware
00:56:44of all that you do.
00:56:48Allah has most certainly heard the words of those who said, Allah is poor and we are rich.
00:56:56Certainly we shall record what they say and their efforts towards seeking to kill the
00:57:01prophets unjustly, and we shall say at the time of retribution, taste now the punishment
00:57:08of burning.
00:57:10This punishment is because of that which your own hands have sent forward, and the fact
00:57:15is that Allah is not at all unjust to His servants.
00:57:21These are the very Jews who said, Surely Allah has enjoined us not to believe in any messenger
00:57:28unless he brings us an offering which is consumed by the fire.
00:57:33Say, surely messengers have come to you before me with clear signs, and with that of which
00:57:40you speak.
00:57:42Why then did you seek to kill them, if you have been right in your demand?
00:57:48But if they cry lies to you, you need not be disheartened.
00:57:52Even so lies were cried to many messengers before you, who came with clear signs, with
00:57:59the books full of wisdom, and with the glorious scripture.
00:58:04Every living being is destined to taste death, and you shall verily be paid in full your
00:58:11rewards on the day of resurrection.
00:58:14Then whoso is removed away from the fire and is admitted to paradise, he has of course
00:58:22successfully attained his goal, and the life of this world is nothing but a vain provision
00:58:28causing negligence.
00:58:31You shall certainly be tried in your substance and lives, and you shall certainly hear from
00:58:37those who were given the scripture before you, and from those who set up equals to God,
00:58:43a good deal of hurtful abuse.
00:58:46But if you are patiently persevering, and guard against evil, then this attitude is
00:58:52worth being followed with constancy and firm determination.
00:58:57Recall the time when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the scripture that
00:59:02you must explain the teachings of this scripture to the people and not conceal it.
00:59:08But they threw it away behind their backs, and accepted a paltry price for it.
00:59:15How evil is that which they have chosen!
00:59:19You should not think, indeed, you should not think that those who exalt in what they have
00:59:27brought about, and love to be praised for what they have not done, are secure from punishment.
00:59:36Rather a woeful punishment awaits them.
00:59:39The sovereignty of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah alone, and Allah is the possessor
00:59:46of full power to do all that he will.
00:59:50Surely in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of the night
00:59:56and the day, there are many signs for people of pure and clear understanding.
01:00:03These are the persons who remember Allah standing and sitting and lying on their sides,
01:00:10and reflect upon the creation of the heavens and the earth, and say, Our Lord, you have
01:00:18not created all this in vain.
01:00:21Glory be to you, save us from the punishment of the fire.
01:00:26Our Lord, whomsoever you cause to enter the fire, you have truly disgraced him, and there
01:00:33will be none to help these unjust.
01:00:37Our Lord, certainly we heard a crier calling to the faith, saying, Believe in your Lord,
01:00:44and we have believed.
01:00:46Our Lord, protect us against the sins, and rid us of our evils, and cause us to die,
01:00:54and after death count us with the virtuous.
01:00:58Our Lord, grant us what you have promised us through your messengers, and do not disgrace
01:01:05us on the day of resurrection.
01:01:07Surely you do not break your promise.
01:01:11Their Lord then accepted their prayer for them, saying, I will not most certainly suffer
01:01:16the deed of any doer of good from among you, whether male or female, to be lost.
01:01:23The one of you being as the other.
01:01:26Hence those who have emigrated, and have been driven out of their homes, and have been persecuted
01:01:33in my cause, and who have fought and been killed, surely I will absolve them of their
01:01:39evils, and will, of course, admit them into gardens served with running streams, a reward
01:01:46from Allah, and Allah with him is the fairest reward to offer.
01:01:53Do not let the moving about in the land of those who have disbelieved deceive you.
01:01:59It is a brief provision, then Jahanna shall be their abode, what an evil place of rest.
01:02:09But those who took their Lord as a shield shall have gardens served with running streams,
01:02:16therein shall they live for ever, an entertainment from Allah himself, and that which is with
01:02:23Allah is better still for the virtuous.
01:02:27There are some among the people of the scripture who believe in Allah, and in that which has
01:02:33been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves
01:02:38before Allah, they barter not the messages of Allah for a paltry price.
01:02:45It is these whose reward is due with their Lord, indeed Allah is swift in reckoning.
01:02:53O you who believe, be patiently persevering, and strive to excel the disbelievers, in being
01:03:01patiently persevering, and guard the frontiers, and ward off evil, and keep your duty to Allah,
01:03:10so that you may attain your goal.
