00:24The Department of Agriculture calls on meat sellers to avoid excessive hike on

00:29the prices of pork as the holiday season approaches. The DA is working hard to increase

00:34the supply of pork and make prices more affordable by giving out breeding pigs through the INSPIRE

00:39program. The DA will also expand the areas for vaccination against African Swine Fever or ASF.

00:46This October, the agency eyes to inoculate 490,000 hogs under the repopulation program.

00:53Secretary Francisco Chu Laurel Jr. said 2024 is critical to the Department of Agriculture,

01:00which faced many challenges but helped reduce inflation to 1.9 percent by stabilizing food

01:06prices. The sector had a record rice harvest and over 500,000 jobs generated in 2023.

01:13Secretary Chu Laurel highlighted efforts against smuggling and animal diseases and stressed the

01:19need for adaptation to challenges, emphasizing food security and support for farmers.

01:25The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation estimated an indemnity of P93.8 million

01:31pesos to support more than 10,000 Typhoon Julian-affected farmers in three regions.

01:36Damage in Region 1 was estimated around P62.3 million pesos. Agriculture Secretary Chu Laurel

01:43stressed the need for quick payments to help farmers recover and build trust in the PCIC,
