00:00In celebrating the auspicious event of World Food Day, the Department of Agriculture showcased
00:05a number of homegrown snacks or delicacies in its central office to revive public interest
00:12on such food many of us grew up on, such as carabao's milk, pandesal, and local white
00:17cheese, gruel, and a local corn kernel dessert with shredded or grated coconut toppings.
00:24These local delights were highlighted by the DA to gin up support for farmers who rely
00:29on the income from crops that yield the ingredients essential in cooking or creating these local
00:35food items or treats to include a wide array of veggies and fruits.
00:40Likewise, the department launched or opened 500 kadiwa stores all across the country,
00:4640 of which are selling rice at 29 a kilo and grains under the Rice for All program
00:52at 41 to 43 pesos per.
00:561,500 kadiwa stores are the department's end target.
01:00The DA is also pushing its products in the international market, such as the latest durian
01:06deal with the New Zealand government and mangoes in Zambales and Guimaras that are up for export, too.
01:13We hope to tap other agencies and offices of the government that are in the more population area.
01:24We would like to bring down the price of rice, particularly rice, from all over the country.
01:30Because the price of rice is too high, we want to bring it down to at least 42 or 40
01:39so that people will have affordability.
01:42Because in the market now, it's still at 55.
01:45What we really want is that our mangoes will be able to be exported to other countries
01:50because the quality is so good.
01:52It should be accepted in Australia, the U.S. and other countries where we need mangoes.
