00:00I play the role of Strawberry's mother. I've been with Stage Rite Youth Theatre for 10
00:08years now. The thing I love most about it is the community feel it has, and how we're
00:14really a family. This is my last production, and one of the greatest things about it is
00:23the themes that it portrays to its audience. So it's really about loving yourself and
00:28becoming one with yourself.
00:38In the show I sing two songs, one duet with
00:42Strawberry describing her attributes, and it's called Perfect, and another one called
00:48Once Upon a Time. Once Upon a Time is a reflecting song about don't waste the time you have when
00:56you're young.
00:59I play the role of Jake. Jake's sort of a nerdy character, and he's Freckle Face Strawberry's
01:06good friend, so he's always by her side throughout the production.
01:15It's a lot different from what I'm used to. I'm used to playing older sort of characters,
01:20but it's good to have a bit of a change.
01:27Each song has a different genre, a different
01:30style of music. So there's one song where one scene is like a ballet scene, and then
01:36the next one is sort of a bit more upbeat, rocky kind of song. It's just a wide variety
01:42of genres.
01:48Being a seven year old has probably been the
01:50most challenging part, because you have to do a lot of things that you wouldn't normally
01:55do. Just, you know, the way you act, the way you, even the way you talk and the way
02:01you sing.
02:08One that I sing myself is called Be Yourself,
02:11and that's telling Strawberry that, you know, she shouldn't change who she is no matter
02:17what anyone tells her.
02:19She's not a fairy, it's okay.
02:23I started here because I loved acting and
02:26drama, and then I think I just kept coming back because, you know, I've made so many
02:31good friendships with people, and every year there's a different production and a different
02:36sort of production, and it's a really good experience.
02:40I don't like to lie, but the truth you can't erase.
02:43Just like all these freckles all over my face.
